1 ശമൂവേൽ 30
1 മൂന്നാംദിവസം ദാവീദും അനുയായികളും സിക്ലാഗിലെത്തി. അപ്പോഴേക്കും അമാലേക്യർ തെക്കേദേശവും സിക്ലാഗും കടന്നാക്രമിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. അവർ സിക്ലാഗിനെ ആക്രമിച്ച് അതിനു തീയിട്ടു.
On the third day David and his men arrived in Ziklag, and the Amalekites had raided the Negev, attacked Ziklag, and burned it down.
2 സ്ത്രീകളെയും അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാവരെയും വൃദ്ധരെയും ചെറുപ്പക്കാരെയും ഭേദമില്ലാതെ സകലരെയും അടിമകളായി പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയി. അവരിൽ ആരെയും അമാലേക്യർ കൊന്നില്ല. അവരെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് തങ്ങളുടെ വഴിക്കുപോയി.
They had taken captive the women and all who were there, both young and old. They had not killed anyone, but had carried them off as they went on their way.
3 ദാവീദും അനുയായികളും സിക്ലാഗിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അതിനെ തീയിട്ടു നശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതായും തങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും പുത്രീപുത്രന്മാരെയും അടിമകളായി പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നതായും കണ്ടു.
When David and his men came to the city, they found it burned down and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.
4 ദാവീദും കൂട്ടരും ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിലപിച്ചു; കരയാൻ ശക്തിയില്ലാതായിത്തീരുന്നതുവരെ അവർ കരഞ്ഞു.
So David and the troops with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no strength left to weep.
5 യെസ്രീൽക്കാരി അഹീനോവം, കർമേൽക്കാരിയും നാബാലിന്റെ വിധവയുമായ അബീഗയിൽ എന്നീ ദാവീദിന്റെ രണ്ടു ഭാര്യമാരും അടിമകളായി പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.
David’s two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel, had been taken captive.
6 ജനം തങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രീപുത്രന്മാരെ ഓർത്ത് വ്യസനിച്ചിരുന്നതിനാൽ ദാവീദിനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊല്ലണമെന്നുംകൂടി അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം അത്യന്തം വിഷമത്തിലായി. എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിൽ ശരണപ്പെട്ടു ബലംപ്രാപിച്ചു.
And David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of every man grieved for his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
7 പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അഹീമെലെക്കിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്യാഥാർ പുരോഹിതനോട്, “ഏഫോദു കൊണ്ടുവരിക” എന്ന് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു. അബ്യാഥാർ അത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.
Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought it to him,
8 അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് യഹോവയോട്: “ഞാൻ ഈ സമൂഹത്തെ പിൻതുടരണമോ? എനിക്കവരെ പിടികൂടാൻ സാധിക്കുമോ?” എന്നു ആലോചന ചോദിച്ചു. “പിൻതുടരുക. നീ തീർച്ചയായും അവരെ പിടികൂടും; സകലരെയും വിമോചിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിൽ വിജയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും,” എന്ന് യഹോവ ഉത്തരംനൽകി.
and David inquired of the LORD: “Should I pursue these raiders? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” the LORD replied, “for you will surely overtake them and rescue the captives.”
9 ദാവീദും കൂടെയുള്ള ആ അറുനൂറുപേരും ബസോർ മലയിടുക്കിലെത്തി. അവിടെ ചിലർ പിന്നിലായിപ്പോയി.
So David and his six hundred men went to the Brook of Besor, where some stayed behind
10 കാരണം ഇരുനൂറുപേർ ആ മലയിടുക്കു താണ്ടാൻ കഴിയാത്തവിധം പരിക്ഷീണരായിത്തീർന്നിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ദാവീദും ബാക്കി നാനൂറുപേരും പിൻതുടർന്നു.
because two hundred men were too exhausted to cross the brook. But David and four hundred men continued in pursuit.
11 അവർ വയലിൽ ഒരു ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാരനെ കണ്ടെത്തി. അവർ അയാളെ ദാവീദിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അവർ അയാൾക്ക് കുടിക്കാൻ വെള്ളവും ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഭക്ഷണവും,
Now his men found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David. They gave the man water to drink and food to eat—
12 ഒരു കഷണം അത്തിപ്പഴക്കട്ടയും രണ്ട് ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിയടയും കൊടുത്തു. അതു തിന്നപ്പോൾ അയാൾക്ക് ജീവൻ വീണ്ടുകിട്ടി; മൂന്നുരാവും മൂന്നുപകലും അയാൾ യാതൊന്നും തിന്നുകയോ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തിരുന്നില്ല.
a piece of a fig cake and two clusters of raisins. So he ate and was revived, for he had not had any food or water for three days and three nights.
13 ദാവീദ് അയാളോടു ചോദിച്ചു: “നീ ആരുടെ ആളാണ്? എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു?” അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞാനൊരു ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാരനാണ്; ഒരു അമാലേക്യന്റെ അടിമ. മൂന്നുദിവസംമുമ്പ് ഞാൻ രോഗിയായിത്തീർന്നപ്പോൾ എന്റെ യജമാനൻ എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
Then David asked him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?” “I am an Egyptian,” he replied, “the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me three days ago when I fell ill.
14 ഞങ്ങൾ കെരീത്യരുടെ തെക്കേദേശവും യെഹൂദ്യയുടെ അധീനതയിലുള്ള പ്രദേശങ്ങളും കാലേബിന്റെ തെക്കേനാടും ആക്രമിച്ചു കൊള്ളചെയ്തു. സിക്ലാഗ് ഞങ്ങൾ ചുട്ടുകരിച്ചു.”
We raided the Negev of the Cherethites, the territory of Judah, and the Negev of Caleb, and we burned down Ziklag.”
15 ദാവീദ് അയാളോട്: “ഈ കൊള്ളസംഘത്തിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു നീ വഴികാട്ടിത്തരുമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “അങ്ങ് എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ലെന്നും എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ പക്കൽ എന്നെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുകയില്ലെന്നും ദൈവമുമ്പാകെ ശപഥംചെയ്താലും! എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അവരുടെ അടുത്തേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകാം,” എന്ന് അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
“Will you lead me to these raiders?” David asked. And the man replied, “Swear to me by God that you will not kill me or deliver me into the hand of my master, and I will lead you to them.”
16 അയാൾ ദാവീദിനെ അവിടേക്കു നയിച്ചു. അവരോ, ഫെലിസ്ത്യനാടുകളിൽനിന്നും യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്നും അപഹരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോരുന്ന വലിയ കൊള്ളമുതൽകൊണ്ട്, തിന്നും കുടിച്ചും ബഹളംവെച്ച് ആ പ്രദേശമാകെ ചിതറി താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു.
So he led David down, and there were the Amalekites spread out over all the land, eating, drinking, and celebrating the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and the land of Judah.
17 ദാവീദ് അന്നുസന്ധ്യമുതൽ പിറ്റേദിവസം വൈകുന്നേരംവരെ അവരോടു പൊരുതി. ഒട്ടകപ്പുറത്തേറി പലായനംചെയ്ത നാനൂറു യുവാക്കളല്ലാതെ, അവരിൽ ആരും ജീവനോടെ ശേഷിച്ചില്ല.
And David struck them down from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man escaped, except four hundred young men who fled, riding off on camels.
18 തന്റെ രണ്ടു ഭാര്യമാരുൾപ്പെടെ അമാലേക്യർ അപഹരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയ സകലതും ദാവീദ് വീണ്ടെടുത്തു.
So David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives.
19 ബാലനോ വൃദ്ധനോ ആൺകുട്ടിയോ പെൺകുട്ടിയോ കൊള്ളമുതലോ അവർ കൊണ്ടുപോയിരുന്നതിൽ യാതൊന്നും കിട്ടാതെപോയില്ല. എല്ലാം ദാവീദ് തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
Nothing was missing, young or old, son or daughter, or any of the plunder the Amalekites had taken. David brought everything back.
20 അവരുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെയും അദ്ദേഹം അപഹരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ മറ്റു കാലിക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം അവയെയും തെളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് മുമ്പേപോയി. “ഇതു ദാവീദിന്റെ കൊള്ള,” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
And he recovered all the flocks and herds, which his men drove ahead of the other livestock, calling out, “This is David’s plunder!”
21 ദാവീദിനെ അനുഗമിക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്തവിധം പരിക്ഷീണരായി പിന്നിൽ ബസോർ മലയിടുക്കിൽ തങ്ങിയിരുന്ന ഇരുനൂറുപേരുടെ അടുത്ത് അദ്ദേഹമെത്തി. ദാവീദിനെയും കൂടെയുള്ളവരെയും സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതിനായി അവർ ഓടിയിറങ്ങിവന്നു. ദാവീദും കൂട്ടരും അടുത്തുവന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം അവരെ അഭിവാദനംചെയ്തു.
When David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him from the Brook of Besor, they came out to meet him and the troops with him. As David approached the men, he greeted them,
22 എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അനുയായികളിൽ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരും നീചരുമായവർ: “അവർ നമ്മോടുകൂടെ വരാതിരുന്നതിനാൽ നാം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന കൊള്ളയുടെ ഓഹരി അവർക്കു കൊടുത്തുകൂടാ. എന്നാൽ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും മക്കളെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
but all the wicked and worthless men among those who had gone with David said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered, except for each man’s wife and children. They may take them and go.”
23 ദാവീദ് അതിനു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, അങ്ങനെ അരുത്. യഹോവ നമുക്കു നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്ന വകകൾകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ അപ്രകാരം ചെയ്യരുത്. നമുക്കെതിരേ വന്ന സൈന്യങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് അവൻ നമ്മെ രക്ഷിച്ചു; അവരെ നമ്മുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുതന്നു.
But David said, “My brothers, you must not do this with what the LORD has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiders who came against us.
24 നിങ്ങൾ ഈ പറയുന്ന വാക്കുകൾ ആർ ചെവിക്കൊള്ളും? യുദ്ധത്തിനു പോകുന്നവന്റെയും സാധനസാമഗ്രികളുടെ അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നവന്റെയും ഓഹരി തുല്യമായിരിക്കണം. എല്ലാവരും തുല്യമായി വീതംവെച്ചെടുക്കണം.”
Who will listen to your proposal? The share of the one who went to battle will match the share of the one who stayed with the supplies. They will share alike.”
25 അന്നുമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ദാവീദ് ഇതിനെ ഇസ്രായേലിന് ഒരു ചട്ടവും നിയമവും ആക്കിത്തീർത്തു.
And so it has been from that day forward. David established this statute as an ordinance for Israel to this very day.
26 ദാവീദ് സിക്ലാഗിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ കൊള്ളയിൽ ഒരംശം തന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരായ യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാർക്കു കൊടുത്തയച്ചു. “യഹോവയുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ കൊള്ളചെയ്തതിൽനിന്ന് ഇതാ നിങ്ങൾക്കൊരു സമ്മാനം,” എന്നു പറയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
When David arrived in Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying, “Here is a gift for you from the plunder of the LORD’s enemies.”
27 ബേഥേൽ, തെക്കേ രാമോത്ത്, യത്ഥീർ ഇവിടങ്ങളിലുള്ളവർക്കും
He sent gifts to those in Bethel, Ramoth Negev, and Jattir;
28 അരോയേർ, സിഫ്-മോത്ത്, എസ്തെമോവാ, രാഖാൽ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലുള്ളവർക്കും
to those in Aroer, Siphmoth, and Eshtemoa;
29 യരഹ്മേല്യരുടെയും കേന്യരുടെയും പട്ടണങ്ങളിലുള്ളവർക്കും,
to those in Racal and in the cities of the Jerahmeelites and Kenites;
30 ഹോർമാ, ബോർ-ആശാൻ, അഥാക്ക്, ഹെബ്രോൻ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലുള്ളവർക്കും
to those in Hormah, Bor-ashan, and Athach;
31 ദാവീദും അനുയായികളും സഞ്ചരിച്ചിരുന്ന ദേശങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം ഉള്ളവർക്കും ദാവീദ് ഓഹരി കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.
and to those in Hebron and in all the places where David and his men had roamed.
