1 യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ അപ്പൊസ്തലനായ പത്രോസ്, പൊന്തോസ്, ഗലാത്യ, കപ്പദോക്യ, ഏഷ്യ, ബിഥുന്യ എന്നീ പ്രവിശ്യകളിൽ പ്രവാസികളായി ചിതറിപ്പാർക്കുന്ന തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടവർക്ക്, എഴുതുന്നത്:
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the elect who are exiles of the Dispersion throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, chosen
2 പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പൂർവജ്ഞാനത്തിന് അനുസൃതമായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടവരായ നിങ്ങൾ, പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാലുള്ള വിശുദ്ധീകരണത്താൽ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ അനുസരിക്കുന്നവരും അവിടത്തെ രക്തത്താൽ വിശുദ്ധി ലഭിച്ചവരും ആയിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ. നിങ്ങൾക്കു കൃപയും സമാധാനവും സമൃദ്ധമായി ഉണ്ടാകുമാറാകട്ടെ.
according to the foreknowledge of God the Father and sanctified by the Spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by His blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
3 നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിനു സ്തോത്രം! ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹാകരുണയാൽ, മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് യേശുക്രിസ്തു പുനരുത്ഥാനംചെയ്തതിലൂടെ ജീവനുള്ള പ്രത്യാശയിലേക്കു നമുക്കു പുതുജനനം നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 ഈ പ്രത്യാശ, അനശ്വരവും നിർമലവും പ്രഭ മങ്ങാത്തതും സ്വർഗത്തിൽ സൂക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതുമായ ഓഹരി നാം സ്വന്തമാക്കേണ്ടതിനാണ്.
and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,
5 അങ്ങനെ, അന്ത്യകാലത്തു വെളിപ്പെടാൻ സജ്ജമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി, വിശ്വാസത്താൽ നാം ദൈവശക്തിയിൽ സംരക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
who through faith are shielded by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 ഇപ്പോൾ ചുരുങ്ങിയ സമയത്തേക്ക് വിവിധ കഷ്ടതകൾമൂലം വ്യാകുലപ്പെടേണ്ടിവന്നാലും നിങ്ങൾക്കു ലഭിക്കാനിരിക്കുന്ന രക്ഷയിൽ അത്യന്തം ആനന്ദിക്കുക.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in various trials
7 ഈ സഹനം നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ മാറ്റുരയ്ക്കലാണ്. അഗ്നിയിൽ സ്ഫുടം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്ന, നശ്വരമായ തങ്കത്തെക്കാൾ അമൂല്യമാണ് നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധി. യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയിൽ അത് സ്തുതിക്കും മഹത്ത്വത്തിനും ബഹുമാനത്തിനും കാരണമാകും.
so that the proven character of your faith—more precious than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
8 നിങ്ങൾ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലെങ്കിലും അവിടത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു, നിങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ അവിടത്തെ കാണുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു, അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ തേജോമയവും അവർണനീയവുമായ ആനന്ദത്താൽ നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
9 കാരണം നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ അന്തിമഫലമായ പ്രാണരക്ഷ കരസ്ഥമാക്കുകയാണല്ലോ.
now that you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉണ്ടാകാനിരിക്കുന്ന കൃപയെക്കുറിച്ച് വളരെ ശ്രദ്ധചെലുത്തി സസൂക്ഷ്മം അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടാണ് ഈ രക്ഷയെക്കുറിച്ച് പ്രവാചകർ പ്രവചിച്ചത്.
Concerning this salvation, the prophets who foretold the grace to come to you searched and investigated carefully,
11 അവരിലുള്ള ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ആത്മാവ്, ക്രിസ്തു നേരിടാൻ പോകുന്ന കഷ്ടതയെയും അതിനെ തുടർന്നുള്ള മഹത്ത്വത്തെയുംകുറിച്ചു പ്രവചിക്കുകയും അതിന്റെ സമയവും സന്ദർഭവും കണ്ടെത്താൻ ശ്രമിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
trying to determine the time and setting to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, when they foretold the things now announced by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
13 ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അചഞ്ചലചിത്തരായി, പൂർണസുബോധത്തോടെ, യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ലഭിക്കാനിരിക്കുന്ന കൃപയിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രത്യാശ ഉറപ്പിക്കുക.
Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober-minded. Set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
14 നിങ്ങൾ അജ്ഞതയിൽ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നപ്പോൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ദുഷ്ടമോഹങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുരൂപമാകാതെ നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരണയുള്ള മക്കളായിത്തീരുക.
As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance.
15 നിങ്ങളെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ദൈവം വിശുദ്ധനാകുകയാൽ, നിങ്ങളും സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളിലും വിശുദ്ധിയുള്ളവരാകുക.
But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do,
16 “ഞാൻ വിശുദ്ധൻ ആകുകയാൽ നിങ്ങളും വിശുദ്ധർ ആയിരിക്കുക” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തിൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
17 ഓരോരുത്തരുടെയും പ്രവൃത്തികൾക്ക് അനുസൃതമായി, പക്ഷഭേദംകൂടാതെ ന്യായംവിധിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തെ നിങ്ങൾ പിതാവെന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു. അതിനാൽ ഭൂമിയിലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാസജീവിതം ഭയഭക്തിയോടെ ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ.
Since you call on a Father who judges each one’s work impartially, conduct yourselves in reverent fear during your stay as foreigners.
18 നിങ്ങളുടെ പൂർവികരിൽനിന്നു സ്വായത്തമാക്കിയ അർഥശൂന്യമായ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ വിമോചനം സാധിച്ചത് സ്വർണം, വെള്ളി മുതലായ നശ്വരമായ വസ്തുക്കൾകൊണ്ടല്ല,
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers,
19 പിന്നെയോ, നിർമലവും കളങ്കരഹിതവുമായ ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന കുഞ്ഞാടിന്റെ അമൂല്യരക്തത്താൽ ആണ്.
but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot.
20 ലോകാരംഭത്തിനു മുമ്പുതന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവിലയാകാൻ ദൈവം ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ഈ അന്തിമദിനങ്ങളിലാണ് ദൈവം ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രത്യക്ഷനാക്കിയത്.
He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake.
21 ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് ഉയിർപ്പിക്കുകയും തേജസ്കരിക്കുകയുംചെയ്ത ദൈവത്തിൽ, ക്രിസ്തു മുഖാന്തരം നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസവും പ്രത്യാശയും ദൈവത്തിൽ ആയിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him; and so your faith and hope are in God.
22 നിങ്ങൾ സത്യം അനുസരിച്ചതിലൂടെ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വിശുദ്ധീകരണം ലഭിച്ചു; അത് നിഷ്കപടമായ സഹോദരസ്നേഹത്തിനുവേണ്ടിയാണ്, അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ ഹൃദയശുദ്ധിയോടെ പരസ്പരം ഗാഢമായി സ്നേഹിക്കുക.
Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.
23 നിങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടും ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് നശ്വരബീജത്താലല്ല; അനശ്വരവും ജീവനുള്ളതും ശാശ്വതവുമായ ദൈവവചനത്താൽത്തന്നെ. (aiōn g165)
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. (aiōn g165)
24 “എല്ലാ മാനവരും തൃണസമാനരും, അവരുടെ സർവമഹിമയും വയലിലെ പൂപോലെയും! പുല്ലു വാടുന്നു, പൂക്കൾ കൊഴിയുന്നു;
For, “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,
