1 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 1

1 ദാവീദുരാജാവു വയോധികനായി; സേവകർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കമ്പിളികൾകൊണ്ടു പുതപ്പിച്ചെങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കുളിരുമാറിയിരുന്നില്ല.

And king David [is] old, entering into days, and they cover him with garments, and he hath no heat,

2 അതുകൊണ്ട് സേവകർ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ! അടിയങ്ങൾ കന്യകയായ ഒരു യുവതിയെ അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ! അവൾ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ തിരുമേനിയെ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുകയും അവിടത്തേക്ക് കുളിരുമാറത്തക്കവണ്ണം ചേർന്നുകിടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ” എന്നു നിർദേശിച്ചു.

and his servants say to him, 'Let them seek for my lord the king a young woman, a virgin, and she hath stood before the king, and is to him a companion, and hath lain in thy bosom, and my lord the king hath heat.'

3 അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇസ്രായേലിലെല്ലാം സുന്ദരിയായ ഒരു കന്യകയെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു, ശൂനേംകാരിയായ അബീശഗിനെ കണ്ടെത്തി. അവളെ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

And they seek a fair young woman in all the border of Israel, and find Abishag the Shunammite, and bring her in to the king,

4 ആ യുവതി അതിസുന്ദരിയായിരുന്നു; അവൾ രാജാവിന്റെ പരിചാരികയായി ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്തു. എന്നാൽ രാജാവ് അവളുമായി ശാരീരികബന്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നില്ല.

and the young woman [is] very very fair, and she is to the king a companion, and serveth him, and the king hath not known her.

5 ഇതേസമയം ദാവീദിന് ഹഗ്ഗീത്തിൽ ജനിച്ച മകനായ അദോനിയാവ്: “ഞാൻ രാജാവായിത്തീരും” എന്നു നിഗളത്തോടെ പറഞ്ഞു. തന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ഓടുന്നതിന് രഥങ്ങളോടും കുതിരകളോടുംകൂടെ അൻപത് അകമ്പടിക്കാരെയും അദ്ദേഹം ഒരുക്കിനിർത്തി.

And Adonijah son of Haggith is lifting himself up, saying, 'I do reign;' and he prepareth for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men running before him,

6 എന്നാൽ പിതാവായ ദാവീദ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒരിക്കലും ശാസിക്കുകയോ, “നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്തിന്?” എന്നു ചോദിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല. അദോനിയാവ്, അബ്ശാലോമിനുശേഷം ദാവീദിനു ജനിച്ച മകനും അതികോമളനും ആയിരുന്നു.

and his father hath not grieved him [all] his days, saying, 'Wherefore thus hast thou done?' and he also [is] of a very good form, and [his mother] bare him after Absalom.

7 അദോനിയാവ് സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ യോവാബിനോടും പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിനോടും സ്വകാര്യമായി ആലോചന നടത്തിപ്പോന്നു; അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പിന്തുണ നൽകിയിരുന്നു.

And his words are with Joab son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, and they help after Adonijah;

8 എന്നാൽ പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കും യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവും പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാനും ശിമെയിയും രേയിയും ദാവീദിന്റെ പ്രത്യേക അംഗരക്ഷകസേനയും അദോനിയാവിന്റെ പക്ഷംചേർന്നിരുന്നില്ല.

and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty ones whom David hath, have not been with Adonijah.

9 ഒരു ദിവസം അദോനിയാവ് ഏൻ-രോഗേൽ അരുവിക്കരികെയുള്ള സോഹേലെത്ത് പാറയ്ക്കു സമീപത്തുവെച്ച് ആടുമാടുകളെയും കൊഴുപ്പിച്ച കാളക്കിടാങ്ങളെയും യാഗമർപ്പിച്ചു. രാജകുമാരന്മാരായ തന്റെ സകലസഹോദരന്മാരെയും യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തുള്ള രാജകീയ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരായ സകലരെയും അദ്ദേഹം യാഗവിരുന്നിനു ക്ഷണിച്ചിരുന്നു.

And Adonijah sacrificeth sheep and oxen and fatlings near the stone of Zoheleth, that [is] by En-Rogel, and calleth all his brethren, sons of the king, and for all the men of Judah, servants of the king;

10 എന്നാൽ പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാനെയോ ബെനായാവിനെയോ രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രത്യേക അംഗരക്ഷകരെയോ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശലോമോനെയോ അദ്ദേഹം ക്ഷണിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and Solomon his brother, he hath not called.

11 അപ്പോൾ പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാൻ ശലോമോന്റെ അമ്മയായ ബേത്ത്-ശേബയോടു ചോദിച്ചു: “നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ് അറിയാതെ ഹഗ്ഗീത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അദോനിയാവ് തന്നെത്താൻ രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടില്ലേ?

And Nathan speaketh unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, saying, 'Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath reigned, and our lord David hath not known?

12 അതുകൊണ്ട് വരിക; സ്വന്തജീവനെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ മകനായ ശലോമോന്റെ ജീവനെയും എങ്ങനെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ കഴിയുമെന്ന് ഞാൻ ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞുതരാം.

and now, come, let me counsel thee, I pray thee, and deliver thy life, and the life of thy son Solomon;

13 നിങ്ങൾ ദാവീദുരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽച്ചെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ഈ വിധം പറയണം: ‘എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, “തീർച്ചയായും നമ്മുടെ മകനായ ശലോമോൻ എനിക്കുശേഷം രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവൻ എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കും,” എന്ന് അങ്ങ് ഈ ദാസിയോട് ആണയിട്ടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നല്ലോ? പിന്നെ, ഇപ്പോൾ അദോനിയാവ് രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?’

go and enter in unto king David, and thou hast said unto him, Hast thou not, my lord, O king, sworn to thy handmaid, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne? and wherefore hath Adonijah reigned?

14 നീ അവിടെ രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ ഞാൻ അകത്തുവന്ന് നീ സംസാരിച്ച കാര്യങ്ങൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കി ഉറപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളാം.”

Lo, thou are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after thee, and have completed thy words.'

15 അങ്ങനെ ബേത്ത്-ശേബ രാജാവിനെ കാണുന്നതിന് പള്ളിയറയിൽച്ചെന്നു. അവിടെ ശൂനേംകാരിയായ അബീശഗ് രാജാവ് വയോവൃദ്ധനാകുകയാൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

And Bath-Sheba cometh in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the king [is] very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king:

16 ബേത്ത്-ശേബ കുനിഞ്ഞ് രാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു. “നിനക്കെന്താണു വേണ്ടത്?” രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു.

and Bath-Sheba boweth and doth obeisance to the king, and the king saith, 'What — to thee?'

17 അവൾ രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ‘അങ്ങയുടെ മകനായ ശലോമോൻ അങ്ങേക്കുശേഷം രാജാവായി വാഴുമെന്നും അവൻ അങ്ങയുടെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമെന്നും ഈ ദാസിയോട് അങ്ങയുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ആണയിട്ടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നല്ലോ!’

And she saith to him, 'My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to thy handmaid: Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

18 എന്നാൽ, ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അദോനിയാവ് രാജാവായിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന് അതേക്കുറിച്ച് യാതൊരറിവുമില്ല.

and now, lo, Adonijah hath reigned, and now, my lord, O king, thou hast not known;

19 അദ്ദേഹം അനേകം കാളകളെയും കൊഴുപ്പിച്ച കാളക്കിടാങ്ങളെയും ആടുകളെയും യാഗമർപ്പിക്കുകയും സകലരാജകുമാരന്മാരെയും പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിനെയും അങ്ങയുടെ സൈന്യാധിപനായ യോവാബിനെയും യാഗത്തിനു ക്ഷണിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്നാൽ, അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസനായ ശലോമോനെ അദ്ദേഹം ക്ഷണിച്ചതുമില്ല.

and he sacrificeth ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab head of the host — and for Solomon thy servant he hath not called.

20 ഇപ്പോൾ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ! അങ്ങയുടെ കാലശേഷം ആരാണ് അങ്ങയുടെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നത് എന്നതിനെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള പ്രഖ്യാപനത്തിനായി എല്ലാ ഇസ്രായേലും കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel [are] on thee, to declare to them who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;

21 അതു ചെയ്യാത്തപക്ഷം പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവ് നാടുനീങ്ങിയശേഷം ഞാനും എന്റെ മകൻ ശലോമോനും കുറ്റവാളികളായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടും.”

and it hath been, when my lord the king lieth with his fathers, that I have been, I and my son Solomon — [reckoned] sinners.'

22 ബേത്ത്-ശേബ രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ, പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാൻ കൊട്ടാരത്തിലെത്തി.

And lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet hath come in;

23 “പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാൻ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്നവിവരം രാജാവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം രാജവിന്റെമുമ്പാകെ എത്തി സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

and they declare to the king, saying, 'Lo, Nathan the prophet;' and he cometh in before the king, and boweth himself to the king, on his face to the earth.

24 നാഥാൻ രാജാവിനോട്: “യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ! അങ്ങേക്കുശേഷം അദോനിയാവ് രാജാവായിരിക്കുമെന്നും അങ്ങയുടെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമെന്നും അങ്ങ് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

And Nathan saith, 'My lord, O king, thou hast said, Adonijah doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

25 ഇന്ന് അയാൾ ചെന്ന് അനവധി കാളകളെയും കൊഴുപ്പിച്ച കാളക്കിടാങ്ങളെയും ആടുകളെയും യാഗമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. സകലരാജകുമാരന്മാരെയും സൈന്യാധിപന്മാരെയും പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിനെയും അയാൾ ക്ഷണിച്ചു; അവർ അയാളോടൊപ്പം തിന്നുകയും കുടിക്കുകയും, ‘അദോനിയാരാജാവ് നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!’ എന്ന് ആശംസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

for he hath gone down to-day, and doth sacrifice ox, and fatling, and sheep, in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and lo, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let king Adonijah live!

26 എന്നാൽ അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസനായ അടിയനെയോ പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കിനെയോ യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവിനെയോ അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസനായ ശലോമോനെയോ അയാൾ ക്ഷണിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

'And for me — me, thy servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, and for Solomon thy servant, he hath not called;

27 യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ! അങ്ങയുടെ കാലശേഷം സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടത് ആരെന്ന് അടിയങ്ങളെ അങ്ങ് അറിയിക്കാതിരിക്കെ, അങ്ങയുടെ കൽപ്പനയാലാണോ ഈ കാര്യം സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്?”

if from my lord the king this thing hath been, then thou hast not caused thy servant to know who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.'

28 അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദുരാജാവ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “ബേത്ത്-ശേബയെ അകത്തേക്കു വിളിക്കുക.” അവൾ രാജസന്നിധിയിലേക്ക് വന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ നിന്നു.

And king David answereth and saith, 'Call for me for Bath-Sheba;' and she cometh in before the king, and standeth before the king.

29 അപ്പോൾ രാജാവ് ഇപ്രകാരം ശപഥംചെയ്തു: “എന്നെ എന്റെ സകലകഷ്ടങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും വിടുവിച്ചവനായ യഹോവയാണെ,

And the king sweareth and saith, 'Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity;

30 ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ നിന്നോടു ശപഥംചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞകാര്യം ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിർവഹിക്കുന്നതാണ്. നിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോൻ എനിക്കുശേഷം രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവൻ എനിക്കുപകരം എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതുമാണ്.”

surely as I sware to thee by Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne in my stead; surely so I do this day.'

31 അപ്പോൾ ബേത്ത്-ശേബ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ച്, “എന്റെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദുരാജാവ് ദീർഘായുസ്സോടിരിക്കട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Bath-Sheba boweth — face to the earth — and doth obeisance to the king, and saith, 'Let my lord, king David, live to the age.'

32 “പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കിനെയും നാഥാൻ പ്രവാചകനെയും യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെയും വിളിക്കുക,” എന്നു ദാവീദുരാജാവു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അവർ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ,

And king David saith, 'Call for me for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada;' and they come in before the king.

33 അദ്ദേഹം അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു: “നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ അംഗരക്ഷകരുടെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ എന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോനെ എന്റെ കോവർക്കഴുതപ്പുറത്തിരുത്തി താഴേ ഗീഹോനിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുക.

And the king saith to them, 'Take with you the servants of your lord, and ye have caused Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and caused him to go down unto Gihon,

34 അവിടെവെച്ച് പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കും നാഥാൻപ്രവാചകനും അവനെ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകംചെയ്യണം. പിന്നെ കാഹളം ഊതി: ‘ശലോമോൻരാജാവ്, നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!’ എന്ന് ആർപ്പിടുക.

and anointed him there hath Zadok the priest — and Nathan the prophet — for king over Israel, and ye have blown with a trumpet, and said, Let king Solomon live;

35 അതിനുശേഷം നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ അകമ്പടിയായി ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക. അവൻ എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കും; അവൻ എനിക്കുപകരം രാജാവായി വാഴും. ഞാൻ അവനെ ഇസ്രായേലിനും യെഹൂദയ്ക്കും ഭരണാധികാരിയായി നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”

and ye have come up after him, and he hath come in and hath sat on my throne, and he doth reign in my stead, and him I have appointed to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.'

36 അതിന് യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവ് രാജാവിനോട്: “ആമേൻ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയും ഇതുതന്നെ സംഭവിക്കാൻ കൽപ്പിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ!

And Benaiah son of Jehoiada answereth the king, and saith, 'Amen! so doth Jehovah, God of my lord the king, say;

37 യഹോവ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ ശലോമോനോടുകൂടെയും ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ! യഹോവ ശലോമോന്റെ ഭരണത്തെ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദുരാജാവിന്റെ ഭരണത്തെക്കാളും മഹത്തരമാക്കിത്തീർക്കട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

as Jehovah hath been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon, and doth make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.'

38 അങ്ങനെ പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കും പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാനും യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവും ശലോമോനെ ദാവീദുരാജാവിന്റെ കോവർക്കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി കെരീത്യരും പ്ളേത്യരും ചേർന്ന ദാവീദിന്റെ അംഗരക്ഷകരുടെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ ഗീഹോനിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

And Zadok the priest goeth down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause Solomon to ride on the mule of king David, and cause him to go unto Gihon,

39 പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്ക് വിശുദ്ധകൂടാരത്തിൽനിന്ന് തൈലക്കൊമ്പെടുത്ത് ശലോമോനെ എണ്ണകൊണ്ട് അഭിഷേകംചെയ്തു. അതിനുശേഷം അവർ കാഹളമൂതി. സകലജനവും “ശലോമോൻരാജാവ് നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!” എന്ന് ആർപ്പിട്ടു.

and Zadok the priest taketh the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointeth Solomon, and they blow with a trumpet, and all the people say, 'Let king Solomon live.'

40 അവർ കുഴലൂതിയും അത്യന്തം ആഹ്ലാദിച്ചുംകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ചു. അവരുടെ ആഹ്ലാദാഘോഷങ്ങളുടെ ആരവം ഭൂമി കുലുങ്ങുമാറ് ഉച്ചത്തിൽ മുഴങ്ങി.

And all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with pipes, and rejoicing — great joy, and the earth rendeth with their voice.

41 വിരുന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അദോനിയാവും കൂടെയുള്ള അതിഥികളും ഈ ശബ്ദഘോഷം കേട്ടു. കാഹളനാദം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ, “നഗരത്തിൽ ഈ ശബ്ദഘോഷത്തിന്റെ കാരണമെന്ത്?” എന്ന് യോവാബു ചോദിച്ചു.

And Adonijah heareth, and all those called, who [are] with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab heareth the noise of the trumpet, and saith, 'Wherefore [is] the noise of the city roaring?'

42 അദ്ദേഹം സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അബ്യാഥാർപുരോഹിതന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാൻ വന്നെത്തി. ഉടനെതന്നെ അദോനിയാവു പറഞ്ഞു: “വരൂ! കയറിവരൂ! നിന്നെപ്പോലെ ആദരണീയനായ ഒരുവൻ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതു തീർച്ചയായും നല്ല വാർത്തയായിരിക്കും.”

He is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest hath come in, and Adonijah saith, 'Come in, for a man of valour thou [art], and thou bearest good tidings.'

43 യോനാഥാൻ അദോനിയാവിനോടു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദുരാജാവ് ശലോമോനെ രാജാവാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

And Jonathan answereth and saith to Adonijah, 'Verily our lord king David hath caused Solomon to reign,

44 രാജാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കിനെയും പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാനെയും യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെയും കെരീത്യരെയും പ്ളേത്യരെയും അയച്ചു. അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ രാജാവിന്റെ കോവർക്കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി.

and the king sendeth with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause him to ride on the king's mule,

45 സാദോക്ക് പുരോഹിതനും നാഥാൻ പ്രവാചകനുംകൂടി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഗീഹോനിൽവെച്ച് രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകംചെയ്തു. അവിടെനിന്നും അവർ ആഹ്ലാദപൂർവം ആർത്തുവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു കടന്നുപോയി. ഇതാണ് നഗരത്തിൽ മാറ്റൊലികൊള്ളുന്ന ഘോഷം. അങ്ങു കേൾക്കുന്ന ശബ്ദവും അതുതന്നെ.

and they anoint him — Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet — for king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is moved; it [is] the noise that ye have heard.

46 അതിനുപുറമേ, ശലോമോൻ ഇപ്പോൾ രാജസിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

'And also Solomon hath sat on the throne of the kingdom,

47 കൂടാതെ, രാജാവിന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥവൃന്ദവും നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദുരാജാവിനെ അനുമോദിക്കാനായി വന്നു. ‘അങ്ങയുടെ ദൈവം ശലോമോന്റെ നാമം അങ്ങയുടെ നാമത്തെക്കാൾ അധികം വിഖ്യാതമാക്കിത്തീർക്കട്ടെ; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ അങ്ങയുടെ സിംഹാസനത്തെക്കാൾ മഹത്തരമാക്കിത്തീർക്കട്ടെ,’ എന്ന് അവർ ആശംസിച്ചു. രാജാവ് കിടക്കയിൽവെച്ചുതന്നെ യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ച് ആരാധിച്ചു:

and also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God doth make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and his throne greater than thy throne; and the king boweth himself on the bed,

48 ‘ഇന്ന് എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ എന്റെ അനന്തരാവകാശി ഇരിക്കുന്നത് എന്റെ കണ്ണിനു കാണുമാറാക്കിയ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ!’ എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാർഥിച്ചു.”

and also thus hath the king said, Blessed [is] Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath given to-day [one] sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing.'

49 ഇതു കേട്ട് അദോനിയാവിന്റെ അതിഥികളെല്ലാം ഭയന്നുവിറച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, എഴുന്നേറ്റു തങ്ങളുടെ വഴിക്കുപോയി.

And they tremble, and rise — all those called who [are] for Adonijah — and go, each on his way;

50 എന്നാൽ അദോനിയാവ്, ശലോമോനെ ഭയപ്പെട്ട്, ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളിൽ പിടിച്ചു.

and Adonijah feareth because of Solomon, and riseth, and goeth, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

51 “അദോനിയാവ് ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിനെ ഭയപ്പെട്ട് യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകൾ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ‘തന്റെ ദാസനായ എന്നെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലുകയില്ലെന്ന് ശലോമോൻരാജാവ് ഇന്ന് എന്നോടു ശപഥംചെയ്യട്ടെ,’ എന്ന് അയാൾ പറയുന്നു,” എന്നിങ്ങനെ ആളുകൾ ശലോമോനെ വേഗം അറിയിച്ചു.

And it is declared to Solomon, saying, 'Lo, Adonijah feareth king Solomon, and lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me as to-day — he doth not put to death his servant by the sword.'

52 “അയാൾ യോഗ്യനെന്നു തെളിയുന്നപക്ഷം അയാളുടെ തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമംപോലും നിലത്തു വീഴുകയില്ല; മറിച്ച് അയാളിൽ തിന്മകണ്ടെത്തിയാൽ അയാൾ തീർച്ചയായും മരിക്കും,” എന്നു ശലോമോൻ കൽപ്പിച്ചു.

And Solomon saith, 'If he becometh a virtuous man — there doth not fall of his hair to the earth, and if evil is found in him — then he hath died.'

53 അതിനുശേഷം ശലോമോൻരാജാവ് ആളയച്ച് അദോനിയാവിനെ യാഗപീഠത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഇറക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അദോനിയാവു വന്ന് ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു. “താങ്കളുടെ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളൂ,” എന്ന് ശലോമോൻ അയാളോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.

And king Solomon sendeth, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he cometh in and boweth himself to king Solomon, and Solomon saith to him, 'Go to thy house.'
