1 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 5
1 ശലോമോൻ തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ പിൻതുടർച്ചാവകാശിയായി വാഴുന്നതിന് അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു എന്ന് സോരിലെ രാജാവായ ഹീരാമിന് അറിവുകിട്ടി. അദ്ദേഹം എപ്പോഴും ദാവീദുരാജാവുമായി സൗഹൃദത്തിലായിരുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ അടുക്കൽ സ്ഥാനപതികളെ അയച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുമോദിച്ചു.
Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon for he had heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father; for Hiram had always loved David.
2 ശലോമോൻ ഹീരാംരാജാവിന് ഇപ്രകാരം ഒരു സന്ദേശം തിരികെ അയച്ചു:
Solomon sent word to Hiram, saying,
3 “എന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ യഹോവ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാൽക്കീഴാക്കുന്നതുവരെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളോടും യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടേണ്ടിവന്നതിനാൽ, തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന് ഒരു ആലയം നിർമിക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു താങ്കൾക്കറിയാമല്ലോ!
“You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of Yahweh his God because of the wars that surrounded him, for during his lifetime Yahweh was putting his enemies under the soles of his feet.
4 എന്നാൽ, എനിക്കിപ്പോൾ ഒരു പ്രതിയോഗിയോ വിഘ്നമോ ഇല്ല. എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എനിക്ക് എല്ലാഭാഗത്തും സ്വസ്ഥത നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
But now, Yahweh my God has given me rest on every side. There is neither adversary nor disaster.
5 ‘നിനക്കുപകരം നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഞാൻ അവരോധിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ മകൻ എന്റെ നാമത്തിന് ഒരു ആലയം നിർമിക്കും,’ എന്ന് യഹോവ എന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിനോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തപ്രകാരം ഞാൻ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന് ഒരു ആലയം നിർമിക്കാൻ ആലോചിക്കുന്നു.
So I intend to build a temple for the name of Yahweh my God, as Yahweh spoke to David my father, saying, 'Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, will build the temple for my name.'
6 “ആകയാൽ, ലെബാനോനിൽനിന്ന് എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി ദേവദാരുക്കൾ മുറിക്കാൻ കൽപ്പന കൊടുത്താലും! എന്റെ സേവകരും താങ്കളുടെ സേവകരോടൊപ്പം ജോലിചെയ്യുന്നതായിരിക്കും. താങ്കളുടെ ആളുകൾക്ക് താങ്കൾ നിശ്ചയിക്കുന്ന വേതനവും ഞാൻ നൽകുന്നതായിരിക്കും. മരം മുറിക്കുന്നതിൽ സീദോന്യരെപ്പോലെ വൈദഗ്ദ്ധ്യമുള്ളവർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കില്ല എന്ന് അങ്ങേക്കറിയാമല്ലോ.”
Now therefore command that they cut cedars from Lebanon for me. My servants will join your servants, and I will pay you for your servants so that you are paid fairly for everything you agreed to do. For you know there is no one among us who knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.”
7 ശലോമോൻ അയച്ച സന്ദേശം വായിച്ചുകേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഹീരാം അത്യധികം സന്തോഷിച്ചു. “ഈ മഹാജനതയെ ഭരിക്കാൻ ഇത്ര ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള ഒരു പുത്രനെ ദാവീദിനു നൽകിയ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രതികരിച്ചു.
When Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly and said, “May Yahweh be blessed today, who has given to David a wise son over this great people.”
8 ഹീരാം ഇപ്രകാരമൊരു മറുപടിയും ശലോമോന് കൊടുത്തയച്ചു: “അങ്ങ് കൊടുത്തയച്ച സന്ദേശം എനിക്കു ലഭിച്ചു. ദേവദാരുക്കളും സരളമരങ്ങളും തരുന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ അങ്ങ് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയെല്ലാം ഞാൻ ചെയ്യാം.
Hiram sent word to Solomon, saying, “I have heard the message that you have sent to me. I will provide all the wood of cedar and cypress that you desire.
9 എന്റെ ജോലിക്കാർതന്നെ ലെബാനോനിൽനിന്നു തടികൾ മെഡിറ്ററേനിയൻ കടലിലേക്ക് ഇറക്കി അവിടെനിന്ന് ചങ്ങാടങ്ങളാക്കി അങ്ങു പറയുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് കടൽവഴിയായി എത്തിച്ച് അതിന്റെ കെട്ട് അഴിച്ചുതരുന്നതുവരെയുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യും. തുടർന്ന് അവരിൽനിന്ന് അങ്ങ് അവ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങുമല്ലോ. എന്റെ രാജഗൃഹത്തിനുവേണ്ട ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങൾ എത്തിച്ചുതരുന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ എന്റെ ആഗ്രഹവും സാധിച്ചുതന്നാലും.”
My servants will bring the trees down from Lebanon to the sea, and I will make them into rafts to go by sea to the place that you direct me. I will have them broken up there, and you will take them away. You will do what I desire by giving food for my household.”
10 ഇപ്രകാരം, ഹീരാം ശലോമോന് ആവശ്യമായിരുന്ന ദേവദാരുക്കളും സരളമരങ്ങളും നൽകിവന്നു.
So Hiram gave Solomon all the timber of cedar and fir that he desired.
11 ശലോമോനാകട്ടെ, ഹീരാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന് 20,000 കോർ ഗോതമ്പും ആട്ടിയെടുത്ത 20,000 കോർ ഒലിവെണ്ണയും ഭക്ഷണത്തിനായി കൊടുത്തുപോന്നു. ശലോമോൻ വർഷംതോറും ഇവ ഹീരാമിന് കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household and twenty measures of pure oil. Solomon gave this to Hiram year by year.
12 യഹോവ, താൻ വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നപ്രകാരം ശലോമോനു ജ്ഞാനം നൽകി. ഹീരാമും ശലോമോനുംതമ്മിൽ സമാധാനത്തിൽ തുടരുകയും ഇരുവരും ഒരു ഉടമ്പടിയിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a covenant.
13 അതിനുശേഷം, ശലോമോൻരാജാവ് സകല ഇസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നും നിർബന്ധിതവേലയ്ക്കായി മുപ്പതിനായിരം ആളുകളെ നിയോഗിച്ചു.
King Solomon conscripted labor out of all Israel. The forced laborers numbered thirty thousand men.
14 അദ്ദേഹം അവരെ പതിനായിരംപേർവീതമുള്ള ഓരോ സംഘമായി മാസംതോറും ലെബാനോനിലേക്ക് മാറിമാറി അയച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അവർ ഒരുമാസം ലെബാനോനിൽ ജോലിചെയ്തശേഷം രണ്ടുമാസം സ്വഭവനങ്ങളിൽ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു. നിർബന്ധിതമായി വേലചെയ്യുന്നവരുടെ മേധാവി അദോനിരാം ആയിരുന്നു.
He sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month in shifts. One month they were in Lebanon and two months at home. Adoniram was over the men who were subjected to forced labor.
15 ശലോമോന് മലകളിൽ എഴുപതിനായിരം ചുമട്ടുകാരും എൺപതിനായിരം കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Solomon had seventy thousand who carried burdens and eighty thousand who were stonecutters in the mountains,
16 മൂവായിരത്തി മുന്നൂറു പ്രധാനകാര്യസ്ഥന്മാർ ഇവർക്കു മേൽനോട്ടം വഹിച്ചിരുന്നു.
besides Solomon's 3,300 chief officers who were over the work and who supervised the workers.
17 രാജകൽപ്പനപ്രകാരം ചെത്തിയൊരുക്കിയ കല്ലുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവാലയത്തിന് അടിത്തറ പണിയുന്നതിന് അവർ വിലപിടിപ്പുള്ള വലിയ കല്ലുകൾ പാറമടയിൽനിന്നു വെട്ടിയെടുത്തു.
At the king's command they quarried large stones of high quality with which to lay the foundation of the temple.
18 ശലോമോന്റെയും ഹീരാമിന്റെയും ശില്പികളും, ഗിബലിൽനിന്നുള്ളവരും ദൈവാലയനിർമാണത്തിനുള്ള കല്ലുകളും തടികളും ചെത്തിമിനുക്കി.
So Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and the Gebalites did the cutting and prepared the timber and the stones to build the temple.
