സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 3
1 മകനേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം മറക്കരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളട്ടെ.
My son, forget not my law; but let thy heart keep my commandments;
2 അവ ദീർഘായുസ്സും ജീവകാലവും സമാധാനവും നിനക്കു വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചുതരും.
For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകരുതു; അവയെ നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിൽ കെട്ടിക്കൊൾക; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പലകയിൽ എഴുതിക്കൊൾക.
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thy heart:
4 അങ്ങനെ നീ ദൈവത്തിന്നും മനുഷ്യർക്കും ബോദ്ധ്യമായ ലാവണ്യവും സൽബുദ്ധിയും പ്രാപിക്കും.
So shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ യഹോവയിൽ ആശ്രയിക്ക; സ്വന്ത വിവേകത്തിൽ ഊന്നരുതു.
Trust in the LORD with all thy heart; and lean not to thy own understanding.
6 നിന്റെ എല്ലാവഴികളിലും അവനെ നിനെച്ചുകൊൾക; അവൻ നിന്റെ പാതകളെ നേരെയാക്കും;
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths.
7 നിനക്കു തന്നേ നീ ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തോന്നരുതു; യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ദോഷം വിട്ടുമാറുക.
Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 അതു നിന്റെ നാഭിക്കു ആരോഗ്യവും അസ്ഥികൾക്കു തണുപ്പും ആയിരിക്കും.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 യഹോവയെ നിന്റെ ധനംകൊണ്ടും എല്ലാവിളവിന്റെയും ആദ്യഫലംകൊണ്ടും ബഹുമാനിക്ക.
Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thy increase:
10 അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ കളപ്പുരകൾ സമൃദ്ധിയായി നിറയും; നിന്റെ ചക്കുകളിൽ വീഞ്ഞു കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകും.
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
11 മകനേ, യഹോവയുടെ ശിക്ഷയെ നിരസിക്കരുതു; അവന്റെ ശാസനയിങ്കൽ മുഷികയും അരുതു.
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
12 അപ്പൻ ഇഷ്ടപുത്രനോടു ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ യഹോവ താൻ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son [in whom] he delighteth.
13 ജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനും വിവേകം ലഭിക്കുന്ന നരനും ഭാഗ്യവാൻ.
Happy [is] the man [that] findeth wisdom, and the man [that] getteth understanding.
14 അതിന്റെ സമ്പാദനം വെള്ളിയുടെ സമ്പാദനത്തിലും അതിന്റെ ലാഭം തങ്കത്തിലും നല്ലതു.
For the merchandise of it [is] better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain of it than fine gold.
15 അതു മുത്തുകളിലും വിലയേറിയതു; നിന്റെ മനോഹരവസ്തുക്കൾ ഒന്നും അതിന്നു തുല്യമാകയില്ല.
She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared to her.
16 അതിന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യിൽ ദീർഘായുസ്സും ഇടങ്കയ്യിൽ ധനവും മാനവും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
Length of days [is] in her right hand; [and] in her left hand riches and honor.
17 അതിന്റെ വഴികൾ ഇമ്പമുള്ള വഴികളും അതിന്റെ പാതകളെല്ലാം സമാധാനവും ആകുന്നു.
Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, and all her paths [are] peace.
18 അതിനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നവർക്കു അതു ജീവ വൃക്ഷം; അതിനെ കരസ്ഥമാക്കുന്നവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ.
She [is] a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy [is every one] that retaineth her.
19 ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ യഹോവ ഭൂമിയെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; വിവേകത്താൽ അവൻ ആകാശത്തെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
20 അവന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്താൽ ആഴങ്ങൾ പിളർന്നു; മേഘങ്ങൾ മഞ്ഞു പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.
By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
21 മകനേ, ജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും കാത്തുകൊൾക; അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു.
My son, let not them depart from thy eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22 അവ നിനക്കു ജീവനും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു അലങ്കാരവും ആയിരിക്കും.
So shall they be life to thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23 അങ്ങനെ നീ നിർഭയമായി വഴിയിൽ നടക്കും; നിന്റെ കാൽ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
24 നീ കിടപ്പാൻ പോകുമ്പോൾ നിനക്കു പേടി ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; കിടക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ ഉറക്കം സുഖകരമായിരിക്കും.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: but thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25 പെട്ടെന്നുള്ള പേടിഹേതുവായും ദുഷ്ടന്മാർക്കു വരുന്ന നാശംനിമിത്തവും നീ ഭയപ്പെടുകയില്ല.
Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26 യഹോവ നിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായിരിക്കും; അവൻ നിന്റെ കാൽ കുടുങ്ങാതവണ്ണം കാക്കും.
For the LORD will be thy confidence, and will keep thy foot from being taken.
27 നന്മ ചെയ്‌വാൻ നിനക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ളപ്പോൾ അതിന്നു യോഗ്യന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നവർക്കു ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കരുതു.
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do [it].
28 നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഉള്ളപ്പോൾ കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു: പോയിവരിക, നാളെത്തരാം എന്നു പറയരുതു.
Say not to thy neighbor, Go, and come again, and to-morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
29 കൂട്ടുകാരൻ സമീപേ നിർഭയം വസിക്കുമ്പോൾ, അവന്റെ നേരെ ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കരുതു.
Devise not evil against thy neighbor, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
30 നിനക്കു ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്യാത്ത മനുഷ്യനോടു നീ വെറുതെ ശണ്ഠയിടരുതു.
Strive not with a man without cause, if he hath done thee no harm.
31 സാഹസക്കാരനോടു നീ അസൂയപ്പെടരുതു; അവന്റെ വഴികൾ ഒന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കയുമരുതു.
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
32 വക്രതയുള്ളവൻ യഹോവെക്കു വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാർക്കോ അവന്റെ സഖ്യത ഉണ്ടു.
For the froward [is] abomination to the LORD: but his secret [is] with the righteous.
33 യഹോവയുടെ ശാപം ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ഉണ്ടു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തെയോ അവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.
The curse of the LORD [is] in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
34 പരിഹാസികളെ അവൻ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവർക്കോ അവൻ കൃപ നല്കുന്നു.
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace to the lowly.
35 ജ്ഞാനികൾ ബഹുമാനത്തെ അവകാശമാക്കും; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ ഉയർച്ചയോ അപമാനം തന്നേ.
The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
