സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 21
1 രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യിൽ നീർത്തോടുകണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവൻ അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.
[Like] channels of water, is the heart of a king, in the hand of Yahweh, —whithersoever he will, he turneth it.
2 മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.
Every way of a man, may be right in his own eyes, but, he that testeth hearts, is Yahweh.
3 നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവെക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാൾ ഇഷ്ടം.
To do righteousness and justice, is more choice to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 ഗർവ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.
Loftiness of eyes, and ambition of heart—the lamp of the lawless, are sin.
5 ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങൾ സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങൾ ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.
The plans of the diligent, tend only to abundance, but, of every one that is urgent, only to want.
6 കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവർ മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.
The gaining of treasures with a tongue of falsehood, is a vapour driven away, [they who seek them] seek death,
7 ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവർക്കു നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്‌വാൻ അവർക്കു മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.
The violence of the lawless, shall drag them away, —because they have refused to do justice.
8 അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിർമ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.
Crooked is the way of a guilty man, but, as for the pure, straight is his dealing.
9 ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടിൽ പാർക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ മേൽപുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണിൽ പാർക്കുന്നതു നല്ലതു.
Better to dwell on the corner of the roof, than a quarrelsome wife, and a house in common.
10 ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.
The soul of the lawless man, craveth mischief, his own friend, findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാൽ അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാൽ അവൻ പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.
When the scoffer is punished, the simple, becometh wise, when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 നീതിമാനായവൻ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേൽ ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.
The Righteous One observeth the house of the lawless, —He is ready to cast down lawless men into misfortune.
13 എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവൻ താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.
He that shutteth his ear from the cry of the poor, even he, shall call, and not be answered.
14 രഹസ്യത്തിൽ ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
A gift in secret, quencheth anger, and, a present in the bosom, mighty wrath.
15 ന്യായം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാർക്കു ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.
It is a joy, to a righteous man, to do justice, but, dismay, to the workers of iniquity.
16 വിവേകമാർഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവൻ മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ വിശ്രമിക്കും.
The man who wandereth from the way of discretion, in the gathered host of the shades, shall settle down.
17 ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയൻ ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവൻ ധനവാനാകയില്ല.
A needy man, shall he be that loveth merriment, the lover of wine and oil, shall not become rich.
18 ദുഷ്ടൻ നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവർക്കു പകരമായ്തീരും.
A ransom for the righteous, is the lawless, and, instead of upright men, the traitor.
19 ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാർക്കുന്നതിലും നിർജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാർക്കുന്നതു നല്ലതു.
Better to dwell in a desert land, than with a woman, quarrelsome and provoking.
20 ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാർപ്പിടത്തിൽ വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുർവ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.
Desirable treasure and oil, are in the home of the wise, but, a man who is a dullard, will destroy it.
21 നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവൻ ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.
He that pursueth righteousness and lovingkindness, shall find life, righteousness and honour.
22 ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
A city of heroes, doth a wise man scale, and bringeth down the strength of its confidence.
23 വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവൻ തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth, out of distresses, his soul.
24 നിഗളവും ഗർവ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേർ; അവൻ ഗർവ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.
A haughty insolent one—Scoffer is his name, is he that acteth in a transport of pride.
25 മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്‌വാൻ അവന്റെ കൈകൾ മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
The craving of the sluggard, killeth him, for his hands have refused to work.
26 ചിലർ നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
All the day, he greatly craveth, whereas, the righteous, giveth, and doth not spare.
27 ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവൻ ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അർപ്പിച്ചാൽ എത്ര അധികം!
The sacrifice of the lawless, is an abomination, how much more, when, with wickedness, he bringeth it in!
28 കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേൾക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.
A false witness, shall perish, but, the man who hearkeneth, with abiding effect, shall speak.
29 ദുഷ്ടൻ മുഖധാർഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.
A lawless man emboldeneth his face, but, as for the upright, he, directeth his ways.
30 യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.
There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel, to confront Yahweh.
31 കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.
The horse, is prepared for the day of battle, but, to Yahweh, pertaineth the victory.
