സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 12
1 പ്രബോധനം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവൻ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു; ശാസന വെറുക്കുന്നവനോ മൃഗപ്രായൻ.
Those who want to know [what is right to do] want to be (disciplined/corrected) when they do what is wrong; it is foolish to not want to be (corrected/told that what you did is wrong).
2 ഉത്തമൻ യഹോവയോടു പ്രസാദം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു; ദുരുപായിക്കോ അവൻ ശിക്ഷ വിധിക്കുന്നു.
Yahweh is pleased with good people, but he condemns those who plan to harm [others].
3 ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും ദുഷ്ടതകൊണ്ടു സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുകയില്ല; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വേരോ ഇളകിപ്പോകയില്ല.
People do not become secure/safe by doing what is wicked; righteous [people] will be very safe and secure [LIT] like [MET] a tree that has deep roots.
4 സാമർത്ഥ്യമുള്ള സ്ത്രീ ഭർത്താവിന്നു ഒരു കിരീടം; നാണംകെട്ടവളോ അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികൾക്കു ദ്രവത്വം.
A good wife is one who causes her husband to be greatly honored, but a wife who does things that cause her husband to be ashamed [will destroy him] like [SIM] cancer [destroys] his bones.
5 നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വിചാരങ്ങൾ ന്യായം, ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ നിരൂപണങ്ങളോ ചതിവത്രെ.
What righteous [people] want to do is [to treat people] fairly; what wicked [people] want to do is to deceive people.
6 ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ പറഞ്ഞൊക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവരുടെ വാക്കോ അവരെ വിടുവിക്കുന്നു.
What wicked [people] say is like a trap [MET] that kills [MTY] people [who pass by], but what righteous [people] say [MTY] rescues those whom [wicked people threaten to harm].
7 ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ മറിഞ്ഞുവീണു ഇല്ലാതെയാകും; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ഭവനമോ നിലനില്ക്കും.
Wicked [people] will die [before they become old and we will see] them no more, but righteous people will live [for many years] and have many descendants.
8 മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ ബുദ്ധിക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ശ്ലാഘിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു; വക്രബുദ്ധിയോ നിന്ദിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
[People will] praise those who have good sense, but [people will] despise those (who are always thinking about doing evil things/whose thinking is twisted).
9 മാന്യഭാവം നടിച്ചിട്ടും ഉപജീവനത്തിന്നു മുട്ടുള്ളവനെക്കാൾ ലഘുവായി മതിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും ഒരു ഭൃത്യനുള്ളവൻ ശ്രേഷ്ഠൻ ആകുന്നു.
It is better to be a humble/ordinary person who has only one servant than to think that you are very important while you have nothing to eat.
10 നീതിമാൻ തന്റെ മൃഗത്തിന്റെ പ്രാണാനുഭവം അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഉള്ളമോ ക്രൂരമത്രെ.
Righteous people take care of their domestic animals, but wicked people act cruelly [toward their animals].
11 നിലം കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു ആഹാരം സമൃദ്ധിയായി കിട്ടും; നിസ്സാരന്മാരെ പിൻചെല്ലുന്നവനോ ബുദ്ധിഹീനൻ.
Farmers who work hard in their fields will [produce good crops] that will give them plenty to eat, but those who waste their time working on worthless projects are foolish.
12 ദുഷ്ടൻ ദോഷികളുടെ കവർച്ച ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വേരോ ഫലം നല്കുന്നു.
Wicked [people] desire to take away what [other] evil people have, but [Yahweh] enables righteous/godly [people] to be steadfast and productive [MET].
13 അധരങ്ങളുടെ ലംഘനത്തിൽ വല്ലാത്ത കണിയുണ്ടു; നീതിമാനോ കഷ്ടത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോരും.
Evil people are trapped by the evil things that they say [MTY], but righteous [people] escape from trouble.
14 തന്റെ വായുടെ ഫലത്താൽ മനുഷ്യൻ നന്മ അനുഭവിച്ചു തൃപ്തനാകും; തന്റെ കൈകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം അവന്നു കിട്ടും.
People are rewarded for [the good things] that they say [to others], and people are [also] rewarded for the good work that they do [MTY].
15 ഭോഷന്നു തന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വായ്തോന്നുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനിയോ ആലോചന കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുന്നു.
Foolish people [always] think that what they are doing is right; wise people heed [other people when they give them good] advice.
16 ഭോഷന്റെ നീരസം തൽക്ഷണം വെളിപ്പെടുന്നു; വിവേകമുള്ളവനോ ലജ്ജ അടക്കിവെക്കുന്നു.
Foolish people quickly become angry when someone does something that they don’t like; but those who have good sense ignore it when others insult them.
17 സത്യം പറയുന്നവൻ നീതി അറിയിക്കുന്നു; കള്ളസാക്ഷിയോ വഞ്ചന അറിയിക്കുന്നു.
[In the courtroom], honest people say what is true, but untruthful/dishonest people tell [nothing but] lies.
18 വാളുകൊണ്ടു കുത്തുംപോലെ മൂർച്ചയായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നവർ ഉണ്ടു; ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ നാവോ സുഖപ്രദം.
What some people say [hurts people badly], as much as [SIM] a sword can; but what wise [people] say (heals [others’ souls]/comforts others).
19 സത്യം പറയുന്ന അധരം എന്നേക്കും നിലനില്ക്കും; വ്യാജം പറയുന്ന നാവോ മാത്രനേരത്തേക്കേയുള്ളു.
When people tell [MTY] lies, others soon realize that what they said is not true [IDM]; but when people say what is true, others will remember that forever.
20 ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കുന്നവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ചതിവു ഉണ്ടു; സമാധാനം ആലോചിക്കുന്നവർക്കോ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടു.
Those who plan to do what is evil are always wanting to deceive [others], but things will go well for those who plan [to do] good things.
21 നീതിമാന്നു ഒരു തിന്മയും ഭവിക്കയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോ അനർത്ഥംകൊണ്ടു നിറയും.
Bad things [usually] [HYP] do not happen to righteous [people], but wicked [people] always have troubles.
22 വ്യാജമുള്ള അധരങ്ങൾ യഹോവെക്കു വെറുപ്പു; സത്യം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരോ അവന്നു പ്രസാദം.
Yahweh detests those [MTY] who tell lies, but he is delighted with those who faithfully do what they promise that they will do.
23 വിവേകമുള്ള മനുഷ്യൻ പരിജ്ഞാനം അടക്കിവെക്കുന്നു; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ ഭോഷത്വം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.
Those with good sense do not reveal [all] that they know; foolish people show [clearly] by what they say that they (are ignorant/have not learned much).
24 ഉത്സാഹികളുടെ കൈ അധികാരം നടത്തും; മടിയനോ ഊഴിയവേലെക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും.
Those [SYN] who work hard become rulers [of others]; those who are lazy become slaves [of others.]
25 മനോവ്യസനം ഹേതുവായി മനുഷ്യന്റെ മനസ്സിടിയുന്നു; ഒരു നല്ല വാക്കോ അതിനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
When people are anxious/worried, they become depressed/dejected, but when others speak kindly to them, it causes them to be cheerful again.
26 നീതിമാൻ കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു വഴികാട്ടിയാകുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വഴിയോ അവരെ തെറ്റി നടക്കുമാറാക്കുന്നു.
Godly/Righteous people try to [give good advice to] their friends (OR, try to make friends with others), but the manner in which wicked [people] live misleads their friends.
27 മടിയൻ ഒന്നും വേട്ടയാടിപ്പിടിക്കുന്നില്ല; ഉത്സാഹമോ മനുഷ്യന്നു വിലയേറിയ സമ്പത്താകുന്നു.
Lazy people do not even [cook the meat of] the animals that they catch/kill, but those who work hard will acquire (OR, are like) a valuable treasure.
28 നീതിയുടെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ ജീവനുണ്ടു; അതിന്റെ പാതയിൽ മരണം ഇല്ല.
Those who (live righteously/continually do what is right) are [walking] on the road to a long life; (it is not a road to death/they will not die when they are still young).
