മത്തായി 15
1 അനന്തരം യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു പരീശന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു:
Then the scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem came to Jesus and said,
2 നിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പൂർവ്വന്മാരുടെ സമ്പ്രദായം ലംഘിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? അവർ ഭക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോൾ കൈ കഴുകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു
“Why do yoʋr disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
3 അവൻ അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പ്രദായംകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവകല്പന ലംഘിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?
He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
4 അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ബഹുമാനിക്ക എന്നും അപ്പനെയോ അമ്മയെയോ ദുഷിക്കുന്നവൻ മരിക്കേണം എന്നും ദൈവം കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ.
For God commanded, ‘Honor yoʋr father and yoʋr mother,’ and, ‘Whoever speaks evil of his father or mother must surely die.’
5 നിങ്ങളോ ഒരുത്തൻ അപ്പനോടു എങ്കിലും അമ്മയോടു എങ്കിലും: നിനക്കു എന്നാൽ ഉപകാരമായി വരേണ്ടതു വഴിപാടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ
But you say, ‘If anyone says to his father or mother, “Whatever benefit yoʋ might have received from me is now a gift devoted to God,” then he certainly need not honor his father or his mother.’
6 അവൻ അപ്പനെ ബഹുമാനിക്കേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറയുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പ്രദായത്താൽ നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവവചനത്തെ ദുർബ്ബലമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
You have nullified the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition.
7 കപടഭക്തിക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു യെശയ്യാവു:
Hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied rightly about you when he said,
8 “ഈ ജനം അധരംകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം എന്നെ വിട്ടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
‘This people draws near to me with their mouth and honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
9 മാനുഷകല്പനകളായ ഉപദേശങ്ങളെ അവർ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ വ്യർത്ഥമായി ഭജിക്കുന്നു” എന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രവചിച്ചതു ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
10 പിന്നെ അവൻ പുരുഷാരത്തെ അരികെ വിളിച്ചു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു കൊൾവിൻ.
Then Jesus called the crowd over and said to them, “Listen and understand:
11 മനുഷ്യന്നു അശുദ്ധിവരുത്തുന്നതു വായിക്കകത്തു ചെല്ലുന്നതു അല്ല, വായിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്നതത്രേ; അതു മനുഷ്യനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.
It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person; it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles a person.”
12 അപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അടുക്കെ വന്നു: പരീശന്മാർ ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഇടറിപ്പോയി എന്നു അറിയുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then his disciples came and said to him, “Do yoʋ know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard what yoʋ said?”
13 അതിന്നു അവൻ: സ്വർഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ എന്റെ പിതാവു നട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത തൈ ഒക്കെയും വേരോടെ പറിഞ്ഞുപോകും.
Jesus answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.
14 അവരെ വിടുവിൻ; അവർ കുരുടന്മാരായ വഴികാട്ടികൾ അത്രേ; കുരുടൻ കുരുടനെ വഴിനടത്തിയാൽ ഇരുവരും കുഴിയിൽ വീഴും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Leave them be; they are blind guides of the blind. And if one blind person guides another, both will fall into a pit.”
15 പത്രൊസ് അവനോടു: ആ ഉപമ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തെളിയിച്ചുതരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Peter said to him in response, “Explain this parable to us.”
16 അതിന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങളും ഇന്നുവരെ ബോധമില്ലാത്തവരോ?
Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding?
17 വായിക്കകത്തു കടക്കുന്നതു എല്ലാം വയറ്റിൽ ചെന്നിട്ടു മറപ്പുരയിൽ പോകുന്നു എന്നു ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?
Do you not yet understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled into the latrine?
18 വായിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്നതോ ഹൃദയത്തിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നു; അതു മനുഷ്യനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these defile a person.
19 എങ്ങനെയെന്നാൽ ദുശ്ചിന്ത, കൊലപാതകം, വ്യഭിചാരം, പരസംഗം, മോഷണം, കള്ളസാക്ഷ്യം, ദൂഷണം എന്നിവ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു.
For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false testimony, and slander.
20 മനുഷ്യനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നതു ഇതത്രേ; കഴുകാത്ത കൈകൊണ്ടു ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നതോ മനുഷ്യനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നില്ല.
These are what defile a person, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a person.”
21 യേശു അവിടം വിട്ടു, സോർ സീദോൻ എന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേക്കു വാങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
Then Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon.
22 ആ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒരു കനാന്യസ്ത്രീ വന്നു, അവനോടു: കർത്താവേ, ദാവീദ് പുത്രാ, എന്നോടു കരുണ തോന്നേണമേ; എന്റെ മകൾക്കു ഭൂതോപദ്രവം കഠിനമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came and cried out to him, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
23 അവൻ അവളോടു ഒരു വാക്കും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല; അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അടുക്കെ, വന്നു: അവൾ നമ്മുടെ പിന്നാലെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു വരുന്നു; അവളെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കേണമേ എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
But he did not respond to her at all. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she is crying out after us.”
24 അതിന്നു അവൻ: യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹത്തിലെ കാണാതെപോയ ആടുകളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കല്ലാതെ എന്നെ അയച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
In response Jesus said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 എന്നാൽ അവൾ വന്നു: കർത്താവേ, എന്നെ സഹായിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
But she came and bowed down before him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
26 അവനോ: മക്കളുടെ അപ്പം എടുത്തു നായ്ക്കുട്ടികൾക്കു ഇട്ടുകൊടുക്കുന്നതു നന്നല്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
He replied, “It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.”
27 അതിന്നു അവൾ: അതേ, കർത്താവേ, നായ്ക്കുട്ടികളും ഉടയവരുടെ മേശയിൽ നിന്നു വീഴുന്ന നുറുക്കുകൾ തിന്നുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters.”
28 യേശു അവളോടു: സ്ത്രീയേ, നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം വലിയതു; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ നിനക്കു ഭവിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. ആ നാഴികമുതൽ അവളുടെ മകൾക്കു സൗഖ്യം വന്നു.
Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is yoʋr faith; it will be done for yoʋ as yoʋ wish.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
29 യേശു അവിടെ നിന്നു യാത്രയായി ഗലീലക്കടലരികെ ചെന്നു മലയിൽ കയറി അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.
Departing from there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on the mountain and sat down.
30 വളരെ പുരുഷാരം മുടന്തർ, കുരുടർ, ഊമർ, കൂനർ മുതലായ പലരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ വെച്ചു; അവൻ അവരെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കി;
Large crowds came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, crippled, and many others. They put them at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them.
31 ഊമർ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതും കൂനർ സൗഖ്യമാകുന്നതും മുടന്തർ നടക്കുന്നതും കുരുടർ കാണുന്നതും പുരുഷാരം കണ്ടിട്ടു ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.
So the crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel.
32 എന്നാൽ യേശു തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ അടുക്കെവിളിച്ചു: ഈ പുരുഷാരം ഇപ്പോൾ മൂന്നു നാളായി എന്നോടുകൂടെ പാർക്കുന്നു; അവർക്കു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവരെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കു മനസ്സലിവു തോന്നുന്നു; അവരെ പട്ടിണിയായി വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ മനസ്സുമില്ല; അവർ വഴിയിൽവെച്ചു തളർന്നുപോയേക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Jesus called his disciples over and said, “I have compassion on the crowd because they have stayed with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away without having eaten, lest they faint on the way.”
33 ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: ഇത്ര വലിയ പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നു തൃപ്തിവരുത്തുവാൻ മതിയായ അപ്പം ഈ കാട്ടിൽ നമുക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
His disciples said to him, “Where can we get so many loaves in such a desolate place to fill such a large crowd?”
34 നിങ്ങളുടെ പക്കൽ എത്ര അപ്പം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു യേശു ചോദിച്ചു; ഏഴു; കുറെ ചെറുമീനും ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
35 അവൻ പുരുഷാരത്തോടു നിലത്തു ഇരിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു,
So he commanded the crowds to sit down on the ground,
36 ആ ഏഴു അപ്പവും മീനും എടുത്തു വാഴ്ത്തി നുറുക്കി ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ പക്കലും ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നും കൊടുത്തു.
and taking the seven loaves and the fish, he gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowd.
37 എല്ലാവരും തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായി; ശേഷിച്ച കഷണം അവർ ഏഴു വട്ടി നിറെച്ചെടുത്തു.
They all ate and were filled, and the disciples picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, seven baskets full.
38 തിന്നവരോ സ്ത്രീകളെയും പൈതങ്ങളെയും കൂടാതെ നാലായിരം പുരുഷന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നു.
Besides women and children, there were four thousand men who had eaten.
39 പിന്നെ അവൻ പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടു പടകിൽ കയറി മഗദാദേശത്തു എത്തി.
After sending the crowds away, Jesus got into the boat and went to the region of Magdala.
