യിരെമ്യാവു 10

1 യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹമേ, യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്ന വചനം കേൾപ്പിൻ!

Hear ye the word which Yahweh hath spoken unto you, O house of Israel: —

2 യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ജാതികളുടെ വഴി പഠിക്കരുതു; ആകാശത്തിലെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കരുതു; ജാതികൾ അല്ലോ അവ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കുന്നതു.

Thus, saith Yahweh—Unto the way of the nations, become not ye accustomed, Nor at the signs of the heavens, be ye dismayed, —Because the nations are dismayed at them.

3 ജാതികളുടെ ചട്ടങ്ങൾ മിത്ഥ്യാമൂർത്തിയെ സംബന്ധിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഒരുവൻ കാട്ടിൽനിന്നു വെട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന മരവും ആശാരി വാച്ചികൊണ്ടു ചെയ്ത പണിയും അത്രേ.

For as for the prescribed customs of the peoples, vanity, they are, —For a tree out of the forest, one cutteth down, Work for the hands of a skilled workman with the axe:

4 അവർ അതിനെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നുംകൊണ്ടു അലങ്കരിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഇളകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവർ അതിനെ ആണിയും ചുറ്റികയുംകൊണ്ടു ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

With silver and with gold, he decketh it, —With nails and with hammers, they fasten them, that it may not totter.

5 അവ വെള്ളരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ തൂണുപോലെയാകുന്നു; അവ സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവെക്കു നടപ്പാൻ വഹിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവയെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു പോകേണം; അവയെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്‌വാൻ അവെക്കു കഴികയില്ല; ഗുണം ചെയ്‌വാനും അവെക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയില്ല.

Mere palm-trunks turned, they are and cannot speak, They must needs be, carried, for they cannot take a step, Be not afraid of them, for they cannot do harm, And even to do good, is not in their power.

6 യഹോവേ, നിന്നോടു തുല്യനായവൻ ആരുമില്ല; നീ വലിയവനും നിന്റെ നാമം ബലത്തിൽ വലിയതും ആകുന്നു.

None, there is, like unto thee, O Yahweh, —Great, art, thou, And, great, is thy Name, for might.

7 ജാതികളുടെ രാജാവേ, ആർ നിന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടാതെയിരിക്കും? അതു നിനക്കു യോഗ്യമല്ലോ; ജാതികളുടെ സകല ജ്ഞാനികളിലും അവരുടെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളിലും നിന്നോടു തുല്യനായവൻ ആരും ഇല്ല.

Who would not revere thee, O King of nations? For, thee, doth it beseem; Forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations And throughout all their royal estate, None, there is like unto thee.

8 അവർ ഒരുപോലെ മൃഗപ്രായരും ഭോഷന്മാരും ആകുന്നു; മിത്ഥ്യാമൂർത്തികളുടെ ഉപദേശമോ മരമുട്ടിയത്രേ.

But at once, do they become brutish and stupid, —An example of utmost vanity, is, a tree!

9 തർശീശിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന വെള്ളിയും ഊഫാസിൽനിന്നുള്ള പൊന്നും അടിച്ചുപരത്തുന്നു; അതു കൗശലപ്പണിക്കാരന്റെയും തട്ടാന്റെയും കൈപ്പണി തന്നേ; നീലവും രക്താംബരവും അവയുടെ ഉടുപ്പു; അവയൊക്കെയും കൗശലപ്പണിക്കാരുടെ പണി അത്രേ.

Silver spread into plates, from Tarshish is brought, And gold, from Uphaz, Work for the craftsman and for the hands of the smith, —Blue and purple, is their clothing, Work for the skilled, are they all.

10 യഹോവയോ സത്യദൈവം; അവൻ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവവും ശാശ്വതരാജാവും തന്നേ; അവന്റെ ക്രോധത്താൽ ഭൂമി നടുങ്ങുന്നു; ജാതികൾക്കു അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം സഹിപ്പാൻ കഴികയുമില്ല.

But, Yahweh, is God in truth, He, is a God that, liveth, And a King of times age-abiding, —At his anger, quaketh the earth, And nations cannot endure his wrath.

11 ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും നിർമ്മിക്കാത്ത ദേവന്മാരോ ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നും ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽനിന്നും നശിച്ചുപോകും എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവരോടു പറവിൻ.

Thus, shall ye say unto them, The gods that made not the heavens, And the earth, Shall perish out of the earth, And from under these heavens!

12 അവൻ തന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ ഭൂമിയെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു, തന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ ഭൂമണ്ഡലത്തെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു, തന്റെ വിവേകത്താൽ ആകാശത്തെ വിരിച്ചു.

He that made the earth by his power, That established the world by his wisdom, —And by his understanding stretched out the heavens,

13 അവൻ തന്റെ നാദം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുമ്പോൾ ആകാശത്തു വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ മുഴക്കം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു; ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ആവി കയറ്റുന്നു; മഴെക്കു മിന്നൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിൽനിന്നു കാറ്റു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്നു.

At the voice that he uttered, there was a tumult of waters in the heavens, And he caused vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth, —The lightnings for rain, he made, And brought forth wind out of his treasuries.

14 ഏതു മനുഷ്യനും മൃഗപ്രായനും പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലാത്തവനും ആകുന്നു; തട്ടാന്മാരൊക്കെയും വിഗ്രഹംനിമിത്തം ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകുന്നു; അവർ വാർത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയ വിഗ്രഹം വ്യാജമത്രേ; അവയിൽ ശ്വാസവുമില്ല.

Every son of earth hath become too brutish to discern, Every goldsmith, hath been put to shame by a graven image, —For a falsehood, is his molten image, Seeing there is no breath in them.

15 അവ മായയും വ്യർത്ഥ പ്രവൃർത്തിയും തന്നേ; സന്ദർശനകാലത്തു അവ നശിച്ചുപോകും.

Vanity, they are, the handiwork of mockeries, —In the time of their visitation, shall they perish.

16 യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഓഹരിയായവൻ അവയെപ്പോലെയല്ല; അവൻ സർവ്വത്തെയും നിർമ്മിച്ചവൻ; യിസ്രായേൽ അവന്റെ അവകാശഗോത്രം; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ എന്നാകുന്നു അവന്റെ നാമം.

Not like these, is the portion of Jacob, For the fashioner of all things, is, he, And, Israel, is his inherited sceptre, —Yahweh of hosts, is his name.

17 നിരോധത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നവളേ, നിലത്തുനിന്നു നിന്റെ ഭാണ്ഡം എടുത്തുകൊൾക.

Fold up, from the ground thy travelling carpet, —O inhabitress of the fortress;

18 യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ ഈ തവണ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളെ കവിണയിൽ വെച്ചെറിഞ്ഞുകളകയും അവർക്കു പറ്റുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം അവരെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

For, thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! slinging out the inhabitants of the land at this throw, —And I will distress them that they may discover it.

19 എന്റെ പരിക്കുനിമിത്തം എനിക്കു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! എന്റെ മുറിവു വ്യസനകരമാകുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ഞാൻ: അതു എന്റെ ദീനം! ഞാൻ അതു സഹിച്ചേ മതിയാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Woe to me! for my grievous injury, Severe, is my wound, —But, I, said, Verily, this, is an affliction and I must bear it:

20 എന്റെ കൂടാരം കവർച്ചയായ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കയറു ഒക്കെയും അറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ മക്കൾ എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയി; അവർ ഇല്ലാതായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി എന്റെ കൂടാരം അടിപ്പാനും തിരശ്ശീല നിവിർക്കുവാനും ആരുമില്ല.

My tent, is laid waste, And all my tent-cords, are broken, —My children, are gone forth from me and they, are not. There is none, To stretch out any more my tent, Or to set up my curtains.

21 ഇടയന്മാർ മൃഗപ്രായരായ്തീർന്നു; യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ കൃതാർത്ഥരായില്ല; അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടം ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

For the shepherds, have become brutish, And Yahweh, have they not sought, —For this cause, have they not prospered, And, all their flock, is scattered.

22 കേട്ടോ, ഒരു ശ്രുതി: ഇതാ, യെഹൂദപട്ടണങ്ങളെ ശൂന്യവും കുറുക്കന്മാരുടെ പാർപ്പിടവും ആക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു വടക്കുനിന്നു ഒരു മഹാകോലാഹലവുമായി വരുന്നു.

The noise of a rumour! lo it hath come! Even a great commotion out of the land of the North, —To make the cities of Judah, A desolation, A den of jackals.

23 യഹോവേ, മനുഷ്യന്നു തന്റെ വഴിയും നടക്കുന്നവന്നു തന്റെ കാലടികളെ നേരെ ആക്കുന്നതും സ്വാധീനമല്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.

I know O Yahweh, That not to a son of earth, pertaineth his own path, —Not, to the man who walketh, also to direct his own steps.

24 യഹോവേ, ഞാൻ ഇല്ലാതെയായ്പോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ എന്നെ കോപത്തോടെയല്ല ന്യായത്തോടെയത്രേ ശിക്ഷിക്കേണമേ.

Chastise me, O Yahweh But yet in measure, —Not in thine anger, lest thou make me few.

25 നിന്നെ അറിയാത്ത ജാതികളുടെമേലും നിന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കാത്ത വംശങ്ങളുടെമേലും നിന്റെ ക്രോധം പകരേണമേ; അവർ യാക്കോബിനെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; അവർ അവനെ വിഴുങ്ങി നശിപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

Pour out thy wrath—Upon the nations that know thee not, and Upon the families that, upon thy Name, have not called, —For they have devoured Jacob Yea they have devoured him and consumed him, And, his habitation, have they made desolate.
