ഉല്പത്തി 48

1 അനന്തരം യോസേഫിന്നു: നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ ദീനമായി കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു വർത്തമാനം വന്നു; ഉടനെ അവൻ മനശ്ശെ, എഫ്രയീം എന്ന രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു:

Againe after this, one sayd to Ioseph, Loe, thy father is sicke: then hee tooke with him his two sonnes, Manasseh and Ephraim.

2 നിന്റെ മകൻ യോസേഫ് ഇതാ വരുന്നു എന്നു യാക്കോബിനെ അറിയിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽ തന്നെത്താൻ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു കട്ടിലിന്മേൽ ഇരുന്നു.

Also one told Iaakob, and said, Behold, thy sonne Ioseph is come to thee, and Israel tooke his strength vnto him and sate vpon the bed.

3 യാക്കോബ് യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സർവ്വശക്തിയുള്ള ദൈവം കനാൻദേശത്തിലെ ലൂസ്സിൽവെച്ചു എനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു,

Then Iaakob sayde vnto Ioseph, God almightie appeared vnto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me.

4 എന്നോടു: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സന്താനപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനാക്കി പെരുക്കി നിന്നെ ജനസമൂഹമാക്കുകയും നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ഈ ദേശം ശാശ്വതാവകാശമായി കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

And he sayde vnto me, Behold, I wil make thee fruitefull, and will multiplie thee, and will make a great number of people of thee, and will giue this lande vnto thy seede after thee for an euerlasting possession.

5 മിസ്രയീമിൽ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഞാൻ വരുംമുമ്പെ നിനക്കു മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു ജനിച്ച രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരായ മനശ്ശെയും എഫ്രയീമും എനിക്കുള്ളവർ ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ; രൂബേനും ശിമെയോനും എന്നപോലെ അവർ എനിക്കുള്ളവരായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

And now thy two sonnes, Manasseh and Ephraim, which are borne vnto thee in the lande of Egypt, before I came to thee into Egypt, shall be mine, as Reuben and Simeon are mine.

6 ഇവരുടെ ശേഷം നിനക്കു ജനിക്കുന്ന സന്തതിയോ നിനക്കുള്ളവരായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തിൽ തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ പേരിൻപ്രകാരം വിളിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ.

But the linage, which thou hast begotten after them, shalbe thine: they shall be called after the names of their brethren in their inheritance.

7 ഞാൻ പദ്ദനിൽനിന്നു വരുമ്പോൾ, കനാൻദേശത്തു എഫ്രാത്തിൽ എത്തുവാൻ അല്പം ദൂരം മാത്രമുള്ളപ്പോൾ വഴിയിൽവെച്ചു റാഹേൽ മരിച്ചു; ഞാൻ അവളെ അവിടെ ബേത്ത്ലേഹെം എന്ന എഫ്രാത്തിന്നുള്ള വഴിയരികെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

Nowe when I came from Padan, Rahel died vpon mine hande in the lande of Canaan, by the way when there was but halfe a dayes iourney of grounde to come to Ephrath: and I buryed her there in the way to Ephrath: the same is Beth-lehem.

8 യിസ്രായേൽ യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: ഇവർ ആരെന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

Then Israel beheld Iosephs sonnes and sayd, Whose are these?

9 ദൈവം ഇവിടെ എനിക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള പുത്രന്മാർ എന്നു യോസേഫ് അപ്പനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവരെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരിക; ഞാൻ അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And Ioseph sayd vnto his father, They are my sonnes, which God hath giuen mee here. Then he sayd, I pray thee, bring them to me, that I may blesse them:

10 എന്നാൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കണ്ണു വയസ്സുകൊണ്ടു മങ്ങി കാണ്മാൻ വഹിയാതിരുന്നു; അവരെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ അവരെ ചുംബിച്ചു ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു.

(For the eyes of Israel were dimme for age, so that hee coulde not well see) Then he caused them to come to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.

11 യിസ്രായേൽ യോസേഫിനോടു: നിന്റെ മുഖം കാണുമെന്നു ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല; എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെയും കാണ്മാൻ ദൈവം എനിക്കു സംഗതിവരുത്തിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Israel sayde vnto Ioseph, I had not thought to haue seene thy face: yet lo, God hath shewed me also thy seede.

12 യോസേഫ് അവരെ അവന്റെ മുഴങ്കാലുകൾക്കിടയിൽ നിന്നു മാറ്റി; സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And Ioseph tooke them away from his knees, and did reuerence downe to the ground.

13 പിന്നെ യോസേഫ് എഫ്രയീമിനെ വലങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഇടങ്കൈക്കു നേരെയും മനശ്ശെയെ ഇടങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ വലങ്കൈക്കു നേരെയുമായി ഇങ്ങനെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

Then tooke Ioseph them both, Ephraim in his right hand towarde Israels left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israels right hand, so he brought them vnto him.

14 യിസ്രായേൽ വലങ്കൈ നീട്ടി ഇളയവനായ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയിലും ഇടങ്കൈ മൂത്തവനായ മനശ്ശെയുടെ തലയിലുമായി അങ്ങനെ തന്റെ കൈകളെ പിണെച്ചുവെച്ചു.

But Israel stretched out his right hand, and layde it on Ephraims head, which was the yonger, and his left hande vpon Manassehs head (directing his handes of purpose) for Manasseh was the elder.

15 പിന്നെ അവൻ യോസേഫിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു: എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമും യിസ്ഹാക്കും ഭജിച്ചുപോന്ന ദൈവം, ഞാൻ ജനിച്ച നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും എന്നെ പുലർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവം,

Also he blessed Ioseph and sayde, The God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Izhak did walke, the God, which hath fed me al my life long vnto this day, blesse thee.

16 എന്നെ സകലദോഷങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും വിടുവിച്ച ദൂതൻ ഈ കുട്ടികളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; എന്റെ പേരും എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെയും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെയും പേരും ഇവരിൽ നിലനില്ക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; അവർ ഭൂമിയിൽ കൂട്ടമായിവർദ്ധിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

The Angel, which hath deliuered me from all euill, blesse the children, and let my name be named vpon them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Izhak, that they may growe as fish into a multitude in the middes of the earth.

17 അപ്പൻ വലങ്കൈ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയിൽവെച്ചു എന്നു യോസേഫ് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നി; അപ്പന്റെ കൈ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയിൽനിന്നു മനശ്ശെയുടെ തലയിൽ മാറ്റിവെപ്പാൻ പിടിച്ചു.

But when Ioseph sawe that his father layde his right hande vpon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he stayed his fathers hand to remooue it from Ephraims head to Manassehs head.

18 യോസേഫ് അപ്പനോടു: അങ്ങനെയല്ല, എന്റെ അപ്പാ; ഇവനല്ലോ ആദ്യജാതൻ; ഇവന്റെ തലയിൽ വലങ്കൈ വെക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Ioseph sayde vnto his father, Not so, my father, for this is the eldest: put thy right hand vpon his head.

19 എന്നാൽ അവന്റെ അപ്പൻ സമ്മതിക്കാതെ: എനിക്കു അറിയാം; മകനേ, എനിക്കു അറിയാം; ഇവനും ഒരു വലിയ ജനമായിത്തീരും, ഇവനും വർദ്ധിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അനുജൻ അവനെക്കാൾ അധികം വർദ്ധിക്കും; അവന്റെ സന്തതി ജനസമൂഹമായ്തീരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

But his father refused, and sayd, I know well, my sonne, I know well: he shalbe also a people, and he shalbe great likewise: but his yonger brother shalbe greater then he, and his seede shall be full of nations.

20 അങ്ങനെ അവൻ അന്നു അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു: ദൈവം നിന്നെ എഫ്രയീമിനെയും മനശ്ശെയെയുംപോലെ ആക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു യിസ്രായേല്യർ നിന്റെ പേർ ചൊല്ലി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എഫ്രയീമിനെ മനശ്ശെക്കു മുമ്പാക്കി.

So he blessed them that day, and sayde, In thee Israel shall blesse, and say, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh. and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

21 യോസേഫിനോടു യിസ്രായേൽ പറഞ്ഞതു: ഇതാ, ഞാൻ മരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു നിങ്ങളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോകും.

Then Israel said vnto Ioseph, Behold, I die, and God shall be with you, and bring you againe vnto the land of your fathers.

22 എന്റെ വാളും വില്ലുംകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അമോര്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു പിടിച്ചടക്കിയ മലഞ്ചരിവു ഞാൻ നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഓഹരിയിൽ കവിഞ്ഞതായി നിനക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Moreouer, I haue giuen vnto thee one portion aboue thy brethren, which I gate out of the hand of the Amorite by my sworde and by my bowe.
