ഉല്പത്തി 43

1 എന്നാൽ ക്ഷാമം ദേശത്തു കഠിനമായി തീർന്നു.

And the famine [is] severe in the land;

2 അവർ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ധാന്യം തിന്നു തീർന്നപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ അപ്പൻ അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ ഇനിയും പോയി കുറെ ആഹാരം കൊള്ളുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

and it comes to pass, when they have finished eating the grain which they brought from Egypt, that their father says to them, “Return, buy for us a little food.”

3 അതിന്നു യെഹൂദാ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ലാതിരുന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ മുഖം കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു അദ്ദേഹം തീർച്ചയായി ഞങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

And Judah speaks to him, saying, “The man protesting protested to us, saying, You do not see my face without your brother [being] with you;

4 നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനെ ഞങ്ങളുടെകൂടെ അയച്ചാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ചെന്നു ആഹാരം വാങ്ങി കൊണ്ടുവരാം;

if you are sending our brother with us, we go down, and buy for you food,

5 അയക്കാഞ്ഞാലോ ഞങ്ങൾ പോകയില്ല. നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ല എങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ മുഖം കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു അദ്ദേഹം ഞങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

and if you are not sending—we do not go down, for the man said to us, You do not see my face without your brother [being] with you.”

6 നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഇനിയും ഒരു സഹോദരൻ ഉണ്ടെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു എനിക്കു ഈ ദോഷം വരുത്തിയതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു യിസ്രായേൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

And Israel says, “Why did you do evil to me, by declaring to the man that you had yet a brother?”

7 അതിന്നു അവർ: നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഇനിയും ഒരു സഹോദരൻ ഉണ്ടോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം ഞങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ വംശത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു താല്പര്യമായി ചോദിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങൾ ഇതൊക്കെയും അറിയിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനെ ഇവിടെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ എന്നു അദ്ദേഹം പറയുമെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And they say, “The man asked diligently concerning us, and concerning our family, saying, Is your father yet alive? Have you a brother? And we declare to him according to the tenor of these things; do we certainly know that he will say, Bring down your brother?”

8 പിന്നെ യെഹൂദാ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഞങ്ങളും നീയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളും മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ബാലനെ എന്നോടുകൂടെ അയക്കേണം; എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ പോകാം.

And Judah says to his father Israel, “Send the youth with me, and we arise, and go, and live, and do not die, both we, and you, and our infants.

9 ഞാൻ അവന്നു വേണ്ടി ഉത്തരവാദിയായിരിക്കാം; നീ അവനെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു ചോദിക്കേണം; ഞാൻ അവനെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവനെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നിർത്തുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ സദാകാലം നിനക്കു കുറ്റക്കാരനായിക്കൊള്ളാം.

I am guarantor [for] him, from my hand you require him; if I have not brought him to you, and set him before you—then I have sinned against you all the days;

10 ഞങ്ങൾ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം പോയിവരുമായിരുന്നു.

for if we had not lingered, surely now we had returned these two times.”

11 അപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്രായേൽ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ ഇതു ചെയ്‌വിൻ: നിങ്ങളുടെ പാത്രങ്ങളിൽ കുറെ സുഗന്ധപ്പശ, കുറെ തേൻ, സാംപ്രാണി, സന്നിനായകം, ബോടനണ്ടി, ബദാമണ്ടി എന്നിങ്ങനെ ദേശത്തിലെ വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളിൽ ചിലതൊക്കെയും കൊണ്ടുപോയി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്നു കാഴ്ചവെപ്പിൻ.

And their father Israel says to them, “If so, now, do this: take of the praised thing of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds;

12 ഇരട്ടിദ്രവ്യവും കയ്യിൽ എടുത്തുകൊൾവിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ചാക്കിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്ന ദ്രവ്യവും കയ്യിൽ തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുവിൻ; പക്ഷേ അതു കൈമറിച്ചലായിരിക്കും.

and double money take in your hand, even the money which is brought back in the mouth of your bags, you take back in your hand, it may be it [is] an oversight.

13 നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനെയും കൂട്ടി പുറപ്പെട്ടു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വീണ്ടും ചെല്ലുവിൻ.

And take your brother, and rise, return to the man;

14 അവൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ മറ്റേ സഹോദരനെയും ബെന്യാമീനെയും നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സർവ്വശക്തിയുള്ള ദൈവം അവന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു കരുണ തോന്നിക്കട്ടെ; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവനാകേണമെങ്കിൽ ആകട്ടെ.

and God Almighty give to you mercies before the man, so that he has sent to you your other brother and Benjamin; and I, when I am bereaved—I am bereaved.”

15 അങ്ങനെ അവർ ആ കാഴ്ചയും ഇരട്ടിദ്രവ്യവും എടുത്തു ബെന്യാമീനെയും കൂട്ടി പുറപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീമിൽ ചെന്നു യോസേഫിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു.

And the men take this present, double money also they have taken in their hand, and Benjamin; and they rise, and go down to Egypt, and stand before Joseph;

16 അവരോടുകൂടെ ബെന്യാമീനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകനോടു: നീ ഈ പുരുഷന്മാരെ വീട്ടിൽ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക; അവർ ഉച്ചെക്കു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതാകയാൽ മൃഗത്തെ അറുത്തു ഒരുക്കിക്കൊൾക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

and Joseph sees Benjamin with them and says to him who [is] over his house, “Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal, and make ready, for the men eat with me at noon.”

17 യോസേഫ് കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവൻ ചെയ്തു; അവരെ യോസേഫിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോയി.

And the man does as Joseph has said, and the man brings in the men into the house of Joseph,

18 തങ്ങളെ യോസേഫിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോകയാൽ അവർ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു: ആദ്യത്തെ പ്രാവശ്യം നമ്മുടെ ചാക്കിൽ മടങ്ങിവന്ന ദ്രവ്യം നിമിത്തം നമ്മെ പിടിച്ചു അടിമകളാക്കി നമ്മുടെ കഴുതകളെയും എടുത്തുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നാകുന്നു നമ്മെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

and the men are afraid because they have been brought into the house of Joseph, and they say, “For the matter of the money which was put back in our bags at the commencement are we brought in—to roll himself on us, and to throw himself on us, and to take us for servants—our donkeys also.”

19 അവർ യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു, വീട്ടുവാതിൽക്കൽവെച്ചു അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു:

And they come near to the man who [is] over the house of Joseph, and speak to him at the opening of the house,

20 യജമാനനേ, ആഹാരം കൊള്ളുവാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ മുമ്പെ വന്നിരുന്നു.

and say, “O my lord, we really come down at the commencement to buy food;

21 ഞങ്ങൾ വഴിയമ്പലത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ചാക്കു അഴിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഓരോരുത്തന്റെ ദ്രവ്യം മുഴുവനും അവനവന്റെ ചാക്കിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അതു ഞങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

and it comes to pass, when we have come to the lodging-place, and open our bags, that behold, each one’s money [is] in the mouth of his bag, our money in its weight, and we bring it back in our hand;

22 ആഹാരം കൊള്ളുവാൻ വേറെ ദ്രവ്യവും ഞങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു; ദ്രവ്യം ഞങ്ങളുടെ ചാക്കിൽ വെച്ചതു ആരെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

and other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food; we have not known who put our money in our bags.”

23 അതിന്നു അവൻ: നിങ്ങൾക്കു സമാധാനം; നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം, നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ ദൈവം തന്നേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ചാക്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിക്ഷേപം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദ്രവ്യം എനിക്കു കിട്ടി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ശിമെയോനെയും അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

And he says, “Peace to you, do not fear: your God and the God of your father has given to you hidden treasure in your bags, your money came to me”; and he brings out Simeon to them.

24 പിന്നെ അവൻ അവരെ യോസേഫിന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നകത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവർക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു, അവർ കാലുകളെ കഴുകി; അവരുടെ കഴുതകൾക്കു അവൻ തീൻ കൊടുത്തു.

And the man brings in the men into Joseph’s house, and gives water, and they wash their feet; and he gives provender for their donkeys,

25 ഉച്ചെക്കു യോസേഫ് വരുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവർ കാഴ്ച ഒരുക്കിവെച്ചു; തങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷണം അവിടെ എന്നു അവർ കേട്ടിരുന്നു.

and they prepare the present until the coming of Joseph at noon, for they have heard that there they eat bread.

26 യോസേഫ് വീട്ടിൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ കൈവശമുള്ള കാഴ്ച അകത്തുകൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെവെച്ചു അവനെ സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And Joseph comes into the house, and they bring to him the present which [is] in their hand, into the house, and bow themselves to him, to the earth;

27 അവൻ അവരോടു കുശലപ്രശ്നം ചെയ്തു: നിങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞ വൃദ്ധൻ, നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പൻ സൗഖ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവൻ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

and he asks of them of peace and says, “Is your father well? The aged man of whom you have spoken, is he yet alive?”

28 അതിന്നു അവർ: ഞങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനായ നിന്റെ അടിയാന്നു സുഖം തന്നേ; അവൻ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു കുനിഞ്ഞു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And they say, “Your servant our father [is] well, he is yet alive”; and they bow, and pay respect.

29 പിന്നെ അവൻ തല ഉയർത്തി, തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ മകനും തന്റെ അനുജനുമായ ബെന്യാമീനെ കണ്ടു: നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇളയസഹോദരനോ ഇവൻ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു: ദൈവം നിനക്കു കൃപ നല്കട്ടെ മകനേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he lifts up his eyes and sees his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and says, “Is this your young brother, of whom you have spoken to me?” And he says, “God favor you, my son.”

30 അനുജനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു യോസേഫിന്റെ മനസ്സു ഇരുകിയതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ കരയേണ്ടതിന്നു ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു സ്ഥലം അന്വേഷിച്ചു, അറയിൽചെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു കരഞ്ഞു.

And Joseph hurries, for his bowels have been moved for his brother, and he seeks to weep, and enters the inner chamber, and weeps there;

31 പിന്നെ അവൻ മുഖം കഴുകി പുറത്തു വന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ അടക്കി: ഭക്ഷണം കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

and he washes his face, and goes out, and refrains himself, and says, “Place bread.”

32 അവർ അവന്നു പ്രത്യേകവും അവർക്കു പ്രത്യേകവും, അവനോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്ന മിസ്രയീമ്യർക്കു പ്രത്യേകവും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു വെച്ചു; മിസ്രയീമ്യർ എബ്രായരോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കയില്ല; അതു മിസ്രയീമ്യർക്കു വെറുപ്പു ആകുന്നു.

And they place for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians who are eating with him by themselves: for the Egyptians are unable to eat bread with the Hebrews, for it [is] an abomination to the Egyptians.

33 മൂത്തവൻ മുതൽ ഇളയവൻ വരെ പ്രായത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം അവരെ അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇരുത്തി; അവർ അന്യോന്യം നോക്കി ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

And they sit before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the young one according to his youth, and the men wonder one at another;

34 അവൻ തന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു അവർക്കു ഓഹരികൊടുത്തയച്ചു; ബെന്യാമീന്റെ ഓഹരി മറ്റവരുടെ ഓഹരിയുടെ അഞ്ചിരട്ടിയായിരുന്നു; അവർ പാനംചെയ്തു അവനോടുകൂടെ ആഹ്ലാദിച്ചു.

and he lifts up gifts from before him to them, and the gift of Benjamin is five hands more than the gifts of all of them; and they drink, indeed, they drink abundantly with him.
