ആവർത്തനപുസ്തകം 9
1 യിസ്രായേലേ, കേൾക്ക; നീ ഇന്നു യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നു നിന്നെക്കാൾ വലിപ്പവും ബലവുമുള്ള ജാതികളെയും ആകാശത്തോളം ഉയർന്ന മതിലുള്ള വലിയ പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും
Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass this day over the Jordan, to go in to drive out nations greater and mightier than thou, [to conquer] cities great and fortified up to heaven,
2 വലിപ്പവും പൊക്കവുമുള്ള അനാക്യരെന്ന ജാതിയെയും അടക്കുവാൻ പോകുന്നു; നീ അവരെ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; അനാക്യരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിൽക്കാകുന്നവൻ ആർ എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള ചൊല്ലു നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
A people great and tall, the children of the 'Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of 'Anak!
3 എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്ന അഗ്നിയായി നിനക്കു മുമ്പിൽ കടന്നുപോകുന്നു എന്നു നീ ഇന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക. അവൻ അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ താഴ്ത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും; അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നീ അവരെ നീക്കിക്കളകയും ക്ഷണത്തിൽ നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God it is who goeth over before thee, he is a consuming fire; he will destroy them, and he will subdue them before thy face; and thou wilt drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath spoken unto thee.
4 നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞശേഷം: എന്റെ നീതിനിമിത്തം ഈ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ യഹോവ എന്നെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു എന്നു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പറയരുതു; ആ ജാതിയുടെ ദുഷ്ടതനിമിത്തമത്രേ യഹോവ അവരെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നതു.
Thou must not say in thy heart, when the Lord thy God doth cast them out from before thee, as followeth, For my righteousness hath the Lord brought me in to possess this land; and that for the wickedness of these nations the Lord doth drive them out from before thee.
5 നീ അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ ചെല്ലുന്നതു നിന്റെ നീതിനിമിത്തവും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയപരമാർത്ഥംനിമിത്തവും അല്ല, ആ ജാതിയുടെ ദുഷ്ടതനിമിത്തവും അബ്രാഹാം, യിസ്ഹാക്, യാക്കോബ് എന്ന നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു യഹോവ സത്യംചെയ്ത വചനം നിവർത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും അത്രേ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നതു.
Not for thy righteousness, nor for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations doth the Lord thy God drive them out from before thee, and in order that he may fulfill the word which the Lord hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
6 ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു ആ നല്ലദേശം അവകാശമായി തരുന്നതു നിന്റെ നീതിനിമിത്തം അല്ലെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക; നീ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനമല്ലോ;
And thou shalt know, that not for thy righteousness doth the Lord thy God give unto thee this good land to possess it; for thou art a stiff-necked people.
7 നീ മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഓർക്ക; മറന്നുകളയരുതു; മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട നാൾമുതൽ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു വന്നതുവരെയും നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നവരായിരുന്നു.
Remember, do not forget, how thou didst provoke the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, have ye been rebellious against the Lord.
8 ഹോരേബിലും നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ വിചാരിക്കുംവണ്ണം നിങ്ങളോടു കോപിച്ചു.
Also at Horeb ye provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry with you to destroy you.
9 യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്ത നിയമത്തിന്റെ പലകകളായ കല്പലകകളെ വാങ്ങുവാൻ ഞാൻ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കയറി നാല്പതു രാവും നാല്പതു പകലും പർവ്വതത്തിൽ താമസിച്ചു: ഞാൻ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കയോ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.
When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which the Lord had made with you, and I abode on the mount forty days and forty nights, bread did I not eat, and water did I not drink.
10 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിരൽകൊണ്ടു എഴുതിയ രണ്ടു കല്പലക യഹോവ എന്റെ പക്കൽ തന്നു; മഹായോഗം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന നാളിൽ യഹോവ പർവ്വതത്തിൽവെച്ചു തീയുടെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത സകലവചനങ്ങളും അവയിൽ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.
And the Lord gave unto me the two tables of stone inscribed by the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the Lord had spoken with you on the mount out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.
11 നാല്പതുരാവും നാല്പതുപകലും കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോഴായിരുന്നു യഹോവ എന്റെ പക്കൽ നിയമത്തിന്റെ പലകകളായ ആ രണ്ടു കല്പലക തന്നതു.
And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the Lord gave unto me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.
12 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നോടു: നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഇവിടെനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; നീ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനം തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ വഷളാക്കി, ഞാൻ അവരോടു കല്പിച്ച വഴി വേഗത്തിൽ വിട്ടുമാറി ഒരു വിഗ്രഹം വാർത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
And the Lord said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from here; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have become corrupted; they have quickly turned aside out of the way which I have commanded them; they have made themselves a molten image.
13 ഞാൻ ഈ ജനത്തെ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം എന്നു കാണുന്നു;
And the Lord said unto me, thus, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people:
14 എന്നെ വിടുക; ഞാൻ അവരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു അവരുടെ പേർ ആകാശത്തിൻകീഴിൽനിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളയും; നിന്നെ അവരെക്കാൾ ബലവും വലിപ്പവുമുള്ള ജാതിയാക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
Let me alone, and I will destroy them, and blot out their name from under the heavens; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and more numerous than they.
15 അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ തിരിഞ്ഞു പർവ്വതത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി; പർവ്വതം തീ കാളിക്കത്തുകയായിരുന്നു; നിയമത്തിന്റെ പലക രണ്ടും എന്റെ രണ്ടുകയ്യിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount was burning with fire; and the two tables of the covenant were upon my two hands.
16 ഞാൻ നോക്കിയാറെ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തു ഒരു കാളക്കുട്ടിയെ വാർത്തുണ്ടാക്കി യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ച വഴി വേഗത്തിൽ വിട്ടുമാറിയിരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the Lord your God, ye had made yourselves a molten calf; ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the Lord had commanded you.
17 അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ പലക രണ്ടും എന്റെ രണ്ടുകയ്യിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കാൺകെ എറിഞ്ഞു ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
And I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and I broke them before your eyes.
18 പിന്നെ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങൾ അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ച നിങ്ങളുടെ സകലപാപങ്ങളും നിമിത്തം ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ നാല്പതു രാവും നാല്പതു പകലും വീണു കിടന്നു; ഞാൻ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കയോ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.
And I threw myself down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; bread did I not eat, and water did I not drink; on account of all your sins which ye had committed, in doing what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
19 യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമാറു നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ കോപിച്ച കോപവും ക്രോധവും ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ ആ പ്രാവശ്യവും എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു.
For I was afraid of the anger and the indignation, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you; but the Lord hearkened unto me also at that time.
20 അഹരോനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമാറു അവന്റെ നേരെയും യഹോവ ഏറ്റവും കോപിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ അന്നു അഹരോന്നുവേണ്ടിയും അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
And with Aaron was the Lord very angry to destroy him; and I prayed also for Aaron at the same time.
21 നിങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപമായ കാളക്കുട്ടിയെ ഞാൻ എടുത്തു തീയിൽ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടു നന്നായി അരെച്ചു നേരിയ പൊടിയാക്കി പൊടി പർവ്വതത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങുന്ന തോട്ടിൽ ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
And your work of sin, which ye had made, the calf, I took and burnt it in fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descendeth from the mount.
22 തബേരയിലും മസ്സയിലും കിബ്രോത്ത്-ഹത്താവയിലും വെച്ചു നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു.
And at Taberah, and at Massah and at Kibroth-hattaavah, have ye been provoking the Lord to wrath.
23 നിങ്ങൾ ചെന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കുവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ കാദേശ്‒ബർന്നേയയിൽനിന്നു അയച്ചപ്പോഴും നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയോടു മറുത്തു; അവനെ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല; അവന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചതുമില്ല.
And when the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea', saying, Go up and take possession of the land which I have given you: then rebelled ye against the order of the Lord your God, and ye believed not in him, and ye hearkened not to his voice.
24 ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അറിഞ്ഞ നാൾമുതൽ നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയോടു മത്സരികളായിരിക്കുന്നു.
Rebellious have ye been against the Lord, from the day that I have known you.
25 യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നാല്പതുരാവും നാല്പതുപകലും വീണുകിടന്നു;
And I threw myself down before the Lord those forty days and forty nights, which I threw myself down; because the Lord had said that he would destroy you.
26 ഞാൻ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു: കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, നിന്റെ മഹത്വംകൊണ്ടു നീ വീണ്ടെടുത്തു ബലമുള്ള കയ്യാൽ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനത്തെയും നിന്റെ അവകാശത്തെയും നശിപ്പിക്കരുതേ.
And I prayed unto the Lord, and said, O Lord Eternal, destroy not thy people and thy heritage, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 അബ്രാഹാം, യിസ്ഹാക്, യാക്കോബ് എന്ന നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ ഓർക്കേണമേ; താൻ അവർക്കു വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ദേശത്തു അവരെ എത്തിപ്പാൻ യഹോവെക്കു കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടും അവൻ അവരെ പകെച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും അവരെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു നീ ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോന്ന ദേശക്കാർ പറയാതിരിപ്പാൻ
Think of thy servants, of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob; turn not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to its wickedness, nor to its sin:
28 ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ശഠതയും അവരുടെ അകൃത്യവും പാപവും നോക്കരുതേ.
Lest [the inhabitants of] the land whence thou hast brought us out say, Out of want of ability in the Lord to bring them into the land which he had promised them, and out of his hatred to them, hath he brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
29 അവർ നിന്റെ മഹാബലംകൊണ്ടും നീട്ടിയ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടും നീ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ അവകാശവും അല്ലോ.
Whereas they are thy people and thy heritage, whom thou hast brought out by thy mighty power and by thy outstretched arm.
