2 ശമൂവേൽ 23

1 ദാവീദിന്റെ അന്ത്യവാക്യങ്ങളാവിതു: യിശ്ശായിപ്പുത്രൻ ദാവീദ് ചൊല്ലുന്നു; ഔന്നത്യം പ്രാപിച്ച പുരുഷൻ ചൊല്ലുന്നു; യാക്കോബിൻ ദൈവത്താൽ അഭിഷിക്തൻ, യിസ്രായേലിൻ മധുരഗായകൻ തന്നേ.

Now, these, are the last words of David, —The oracle of David, son of Jesse, Yea the oracle of The man raised up on high, The Anointed of the God of Jacob, the Delight of the Songs of Israel:

2 യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു എന്നിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വചനം എന്റെ നാവിന്മേൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

The Spirit of Yahweh, spake in me, —And, his word, was on my tongue;

3 യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവം കല്പിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിൻ പാറ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: മനുഷ്യരെ നീതിമാനായി ഭരിക്കുന്നവൻ,

Said the God of Israel, Unto me, spake the Rock of Israel: —One Ruling over Men, A Righteous One, ruling in the reverence of God,

4 ദൈവഭയത്തോടെ വാഴുന്നവൻ, മേഘമില്ലാത്ത പ്രഭാതകാലത്തു സുര്യോദയത്തിങ്കലെ പ്രകാശത്തിന്നു തുല്യൻ; മഴെക്കു പിമ്പു സൂര്യകാന്തിയാൽ ഭൂമിയിൽ മുളെക്കുന്ന ഇളമ്പുല്ലിന്നു തുല്യൻ.

Is even as the light of the morning when ariseth the sun, —A morning, without clouds, [As] from brightness, [and] from rain, the fresh shoots out of the earth.

5 ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ എന്റെ ഗൃഹം അതുപോലെയല്ലയോ? അവൻ എന്നോടു ഒരു ശാശ്വതനിയമം ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ: അതു എല്ലാറ്റിലും സ്ഥാപിതവും സ്ഥിരവുമായിരിക്കുന്നു. അവൻ എനിക്കു സകലരക്ഷയും വാഞ്ഛയും തഴെപ്പിക്കയില്ലയോ?

When, not so, was my house with GOD, Then, a covenant age-abiding, he appointed me, Ordered in all things and guarded, Now that it is all my salvation and all my desire, Will he not make it shoot forth?

6 എന്നാൽ സകലനീചന്മാരും എറിഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നതും കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചുകൂടാത്തതുമായ മുള്ളുപോലെ ആകുന്നു.

But, as for the abandoned, like thorns to be tossed away are they all, —For, not with the hand, can they be taken;

7 അവയെ തൊടുവാൻ തുനിയുന്നവൻ ഇരിമ്പും കുന്തപ്പിടിയും ധരിച്ചിരിക്കേണം; അവയെ അവ കിടക്കുന്നേടത്തു തന്നേ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയേണം.

But, the man that would touch them, Must fence himself with iron, and the shaft of a spear, —Then, with fire, shall they be, consumed, on the spot!

8 ദാവീദിന്നു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന വീരന്മാരുടെ പേരുകളാവിതു: തഹ്കെമോന്യൻ യോശേബ്-ബശ്ശേബെത്ത്; അവൻ നായകന്മാരിൽ തലവൻ; എണ്ണൂറുപേരെ ഒരേ സമയത്തു ആക്രമിച്ചു കൊന്ന എസ്ന്യൻ അദീനോ ഇവൻ തന്നേ.

These, are the names of the mighty men, who belonged to David, —The president a Tachmonite head of the charioteers, the same, was Adino the Eznite, for eight hundred, slain at one time.

9 അവന്റെ ശേഷം ഒരു അഹോഹ്യന്റെ മകനായ ദോദായിയുടെ മകൻ എലെയാസാർ; അവൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു കൂടിയിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്യർ പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിനോടുകൂടെ നിന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ വെല്ലുവിളിച്ച മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ ആയിരുന്നു.

And, after him, Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi, —in the hero-class of mighty men, with David, when they reproached the Philistines, they were gathered together there to battle, but the men of Israel had gone up;

10 അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു കൈതളർന്നു വാളോടു പറ്റിപ്പോകുംവരെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ വെട്ടി; അന്നു യഹോവ വലിയോരു ജയം നല്കി; കൊള്ളയിടുവാൻ മാത്രമേ പടജ്ജനം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നുള്ളു.

he, however, arose and smote among the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto his sword, so Yahweh wrought a great victory on that day, —the people, coming back after him, only to strip the slain.

11 അവന്റശേഷം ഹാരാര്യനായ ആഗേയുടെ മകനായ ശമ്മാ; ഒരിക്കൽ ചെറുപയർ ഉള്ളോരു വയലിൽ കവർച്ചെക്കു ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ കൂടിവന്നപ്പോൾ ജനം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോയി.

And, after him, Shammah son of Agee, the Hararite, —and, when the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, there being at hand an allotment of field-land full of lentils, but, the people, having fled from the face of the Philistines,

12 അവനോ വയലിന്റെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു അതിനെ കാത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ വെട്ടി; യഹോവ വലിയോരു ജയം നല്കി.

then took he his stand in the midst of the allotment, and defended it, and smote the Philistines, —and Yahweh wrought a great victory.

13 മുപ്പതു നായകന്മാരിൽ മൂന്നുപേർ കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു അദുല്ലാംഗുഹയിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ സൈന്യം രെഫായീംതാഴ്‌വരയിൽ പാളയമിറങ്ങിയിരുന്നു.

And three of the thirty chiefs descended, and came in, towards harvest, unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, —although, a troop of Philistines, were encamped in the vale of Rephaim;

14 അന്നു ദാവീദ് ദുർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ ആയിരുന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യർക്കു ബേത്ത്ലേഹെമിൽ അക്കാലത്തു ഒരു കാവൽപട്ടാളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

and, David, then was in a stronghold, —and, a garrison of Philistines, was then in Bethlehem.

15 ബേത്ത്ലേഹെംപട്ടണവാതില്ക്കലെ കിണറ്റിൽനിന്നു വെള്ളം എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ ആർ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു തരും എന്നു ദാവീദ് ആർത്തിപൂണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു.

And David longed, and said, —Who will give me to drink water out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?

16 അപ്പോൾ ആ മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പാളയത്തിൽകൂടി കടന്നുചെന്നു ബേത്ത്ലേഹെംപട്ടണവാതില്ക്കലെ കിണറ്റിൽനിന്നു വെള്ളം കോരി ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവനോ അതു കുടിപ്പാൻ മനസ്സില്ലാതെ യഹോവെക്കു നിവേദിച്ചു ഒഴിച്ചു:

And the three mighty men brake through the camp of Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David, —yet would he not drink, but poured it out unto Yahweh,

17 യഹോവേ, തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുപോയ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ രക്തം ഞാൻ കുടിക്കയോ? ഇതു ചെയ്‌വാൻ എനിക്കു സംഗതിവരരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതു കുടിപ്പാൻ അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു. ഇതാകുന്നു ഈ മൂന്നു വീരന്മാർ ചെയ്തതു.

and said—Be it far from me, O Yahweh, that I should do this! is it not the blood of the men who went with their lives [in their hands]? So he would not drink it. These things, did the three mighty men.

18 യോവാബിന്റെ സഹോദരനും സെരൂയയുടെ മകനുമായ അബീശായി മൂന്നുപേരിൽ തലവൻ ആയിരുന്നു. അവൻ തന്റെ കുന്തത്തെ മുന്നൂറുപേരുടെ നേരെ ഓങ്ങി, അവരെ കൊന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ മൂവരിൽവെച്ചു കീർത്തി പ്രാപിച്ചു.

And. Abishai brother of Joab son of Zeruiah, he, was chief of three, in that he brandished his spear against three hundred whom he slew; and, he, had a name among three.

19 അവൻ മൂവരിലും മാനം ഏറിയവൻ ആയിരുന്നു; അവർക്കു തലവനായ്തീർന്നു. എന്നാൽ അവൻ മറ്റെ മൂവരോളം വരികയില്ല.

Was he not most honourable, of the three, and so became their captain? Nevertheless, unto the three, he attained not.

20 കബ്സേലിൽ ഒരു പരാക്രമശാലിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകൻ ബെനായാവും വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികൾ ചെയ്തു; അവൻ മോവാബിലെ അരീയേലിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെ സംഹരിച്ചതുമല്ലാതെ ഹിമകാലത്തു ഒരു ഗുഹയിൽ ചെന്നു ഒരു സിംഹത്തെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

Benaiah also, son of Jehoiadah, son of an active man, hero of many a deed, a man of Kabzeel, he, smote the two sons of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, on a day of snow;

21 അവൻ കോമളനായ ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യനെയും സംഹരിച്ചു; മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഒരു കുന്തം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവനോ ഒരു വടിയുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും കുന്തം പിടിച്ചുപറിച്ചു കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നു.

he, also smote an Egyptian, who was of valiant bearing, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear, but he went down unto him with a staff, —and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his own spear.

22 ഇതു യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവു ചെയ്തു, മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരിൽ കീർത്തി പ്രാപിച്ചു.

These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and, he, had a name among three mighty men.

23 അവൻ മുപ്പതുപേരിൽ മാനമേറിയവനായിരുന്നു എങ്കിലും മറ്റെ മൂന്നുപേരോളം വരികയില്ല. ദാവീദ് അവനെ അകമ്പടിനായകനാക്കി.

He was the most honourable, of thirty, although, unto the three, he attained no, —so David added him to his council.

24 യോവാബിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അസാഹേൽ മുപ്പതുപേരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ ആയിരുന്നു; അവർ ആരെന്നാൽ: ബേത്ത്ലേഹെമ്യനായ ദോദോവിന്റെ മകൻ എൽഹാനാൻ, ഹരോദ്യൻ ശമ്മാ, ഹരോദ്യൻ എലീക്കാ,

Asahel, brother of Joab, was among the thirty, —Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;

25 പൽത്യൻ ഹേലെസ്, തെക്കോവ്യനായ ഇക്കേശിന്റെ മകൻ ഈരാ,

Shammah, the Harodite; Elika, the Harodite;

26 അനഥോത്യൻ അബീയേസെർ, ഹൂശാത്യൻ മെബുന്നായി, അഹോഹ്യൻ സൽമോൻ,

Helez, the Paltite, Ira, son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite;

27 നെത്തോഫാത്യൻ മഹരായി,

Abiezer, the Anathothite, Mebunnai, the Hushathite;

28 നെത്തോഫാത്യനായ ബാനയുടെ മകൻ ഹേലെബ്,

Zalmon, the Ahohite, Maharai, the Netophathite;

29 ബെന്യാമീന്യരുടെ ഗിബെയയിൽനിന്നുള്ള രീബായിയുടെ മകൻ ഇത്ഥായി,

Heleb, son of Baanah, the Netophathite, —Ittai, son of Ribai, of Gibeah, of the sons of Benjamin;

30 പിരാതോന്യൻ ബെനായ്യാവു,

Benaiah, a Pirathonite, Hiddai, of the torrents of Gaash;

31 നഹലേഗാശുകാരൻ ഹിദ്ദായി, അർബാത്യൻ അബീ-അല്ബോൻ, ബർഹൂമ്യൻ അസ്മാവെത്ത്,

Abi-albon, the Arbathite, Azmaveth, the Barhumite;

32 ശാൽബോന്യൻ എല്യഹ്ബാ, യാശേന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ:

Eliahba, the Shaalbonite, (Of) the sons of Jashen, Jonathan;

33 യോനാഥാൻ, ഹരാര്യൻ ശമ്മ, അരാര്യനായ ശാരാരിന്റെ മകൻ അഹീരാം,

Shammah, the Hararite, Ahiam, son of Sharar, the Ararite;

34 മാഖാത്യന്റെ മകനായ അഹശ്ബായിയുടെ മകൻ എലീഫേലെത്, ഗിലോന്യനായ അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ മകൻ എലീയാം,

Eliphelet, son of Ahasbai, son of the Maacathite. Eliam, son of Ahithophel, the Gilonite.

35 കർമ്മേല്യൻ ഹെസ്രോ, അർബ്യൻ പാറായി,

Hezro, the Carmelite, Paarai, the Arbite;

36 സോബക്കാരനായ നാഥാന്റെ മകൻ യിഗാൽ,

Igal, son of Nathan, of Zobah, Bani, the Gadite;

37 ഗാദ്യൻ ബാനി, സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ യോവാബിന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകന്മാരായ അമ്മോന്യൻ സേലെക്ക്, ബെരോത്യൻ നഹരായി.

Zelek, the Ammonite, —Naharai, the Beerothite, armour bearers to Joab son of Zeruiah;

38 യിത്രിയൻ ഈരാ, യിത്രിയൻ ഗാരേബ്,

Ira, the Ithrite, Gareb, the Ithrite;

39 ഹിത്യൻ ഊരീയാവു ഇങ്ങനെ ആകെ മുപ്പത്തേഴുപേർ.
