2 ദിനവൃത്താന്തം 21
1 യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
Then Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and he was buried with them in the City of David. And his son, Jehoram, reigned in his place.
2 അവന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായി അസര്യാവു, യെഹീയേൽ, സെഖര്യാവു, അസര്യാവു, മീഖായേൽ, ശെഫത്യാവു എന്നീ സഹോദരന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇവരെല്ലാവരും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ.
And he had brothers, sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah. All these were sons of Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah.
3 അവരുടെ അപ്പൻ അവർക്കു വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളുമായ വലിയ ദാനങ്ങളും യെഹൂദയിൽ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളും കൊടുത്തു; എന്നാൽ യെഹോരാം ആദ്യജാതനായിരിക്കയാൽ രാജത്വം അവന്നു കൊടുത്തു.
And their father gave to them many gifts of silver, and gold, and valuables, with very fortified cities in Judah. But the kingdom he handed on to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn.
4 യെഹോരാം തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ രാജത്വം ഏറ്റു തന്നേത്താൻ ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയശേഷം തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേൽപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരിൽ പലരെയും വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.
Therefore, Jehoram rose up over the kingdom of his father. And when he had established himself, he killed with the sword all his brothers, and certain ones from the leaders of Israel.
5 യെഹോരാം വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ എട്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു.
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he had begun to reign. And he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.
6 ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയിൽ നടന്നു; ആഹാബിന്റെ മകൾ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.
And he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done. For his wife was a daughter of Ahab, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
7 എന്നാൽ യഹോവ ദാവീദിനോടു ചെയ്തിരുന്ന നിയമംനിമിത്തവും അവന്നും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കും ഒരു ദീപം എല്ലായ്പോഴും കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കനിമിത്തവും ദാവീദ് ഗൃഹത്തെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.
But the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had formed with him, and because he had promised that he would provide a lamp to him, and to his sons, for all time.
8 അവന്റെ കാലത്തു എദോം യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചു തങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ വാഴിച്ചു.
In those days, Edom rebelled, so as not to be subject to Judah, and they appointed for themselves a king.
9 യെഹോരാം തന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും സകലരഥങ്ങളോടുംകൂടെ ചെന്നു രാത്രിയിൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്നേ വളഞ്ഞിരുന്ന എദോമ്യരെയും തേരാളികളെയും തോല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
And when Jehoram had gone across with his leaders, and all the horsemen who were with him, he arose in the night, and struck the Edomites (who had surrounded him), and all the commanders of his horsemen.
10 എന്നാൽ എദോം ഇന്നുവരെ യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചുനില്ക്കുന്നു; അവൻ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ആ കാലത്തു തന്നേ ലിബ്നയും അവന്റെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചു.
Even so, Edom rebelled, so as not to be under the authority of Judah, even to this day. Also at that time, Libnah withdrew, so as not to be under his hand. For he had forsaken the Lord, the God of his fathers.
11 അവൻ യെഹൂദാപർവ്വതങ്ങളിൽ പൂജാഗിരികളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളെ പരസംഗം ചെയ്യുമാറാക്കി, യെഹൂദയെ തെറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
Moreover, he also constructed high places in the cities of Judah. And he caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to fornicate, and Judah to prevaricate.
12 അവന്നു എലീയാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പക്കൽനിന്നു ഒരു എഴുത്തു വന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നീ നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ വഴികളിലും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആസയുടെ വഴികളിലും നടക്കാതെ
Then letters were conveyed to him from the prophet Elijah, in which it was written: “Thus says the Lord, the God of David, your father: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat, your father, nor in the ways of Asa, the king of Judah,
13 യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കയും ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ പരസംഗംപോലെ യെഹൂദയെയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളെയും പരസംഗം ചെയ്യുമാറാക്കുകയും നിന്നെക്കാൾ നല്ലവരായ നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിലുള്ള നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു
but instead you have advanced along the paths of the kings of Israel, and you have caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to fornicate, imitating the fornication of the house of Ahab, and moreover, you have killed your brothers, the house of your father, who are better than you:
14 യഹോവ നിന്റെ ജനത്തെയും നിന്റെ മക്കളെയും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും നിന്റെ സകലവസ്തുവകകളെയും മഹാബാധകൊണ്ടു ബാധിക്കും.
behold, the Lord will strike you with a great plague, with all your people, and your sons and wives, and all your substance.
15 നിനക്കോ ദീനത്താൽ നിന്റെ കുടൽ കാലക്രമേണ പുറത്തു ചാടുംവരെ കുടലിൽ വ്യാധിപിടിച്ചു കഠിനദീനമുണ്ടാകും.
And you shall be sickened by a very grievous disease of your bowels, until your inner organs depart, little by little, each day.”
16 യഹോവ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെയും കൂശ്യരുടെയും സമീപത്തുള്ള അരബികളുടെയും മനസ്സു യെഹോരാമിന്റെ നേരെ ഉണർത്തി;
Therefore, the Lord stirred up, against Jehoram, the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who are along the borders of the Ethiopians.
17 അവർ യെഹൂദയിലേക്കു വന്നു അതിനെ ആക്രമിച്ചു രാജധാനിയിൽ കണ്ട സകലവസ്തുവകകളെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും അപഹരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ഇളയമകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസല്ലാതെ ഒരു മകനും അവന്നു ശേഷിച്ചില്ല.
And they ascended into the land of Judah. And they laid waste to it. And they despoiled all the substance that was found in the house of the king, including even his sons and wives. Neither did there remain for him any son, except Jehoahaz, who was the youngest born.
18 ഇതെല്ലാം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം യഹോവ അവനെ കുടലിൽ പൊറുക്കാത്ത വ്യാധികൊണ്ടു ബാധിച്ചു.
And in addition to all these things, the Lord struck him with an incurable disease of the bowels.
19 കാലക്രമേണ രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ദീനത്താൽ അവന്റെ കുടൽ പുറത്തുചാടി അവൻ കഠിനവ്യാധിയാൽ മരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ ജനം അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു കഴിച്ച ദഹനംപോലെ അവന്നു വേണ്ടി ദഹനം കഴിച്ചില്ല.
And as day followed after day, and the space of time turned, the course of two years was completed. And after having been wasted by a long consumption, so much so that even his inner organs were discharged, the disease ended along with his life. And so he died of a very grievous illness. And the people did not make a funeral for him, according to the custom of burning, as they had done for his ancestors.
20 അവൻ വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ എട്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു ആർക്കും ഇഷ്ടനാകാതെ കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി; അവനെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അടക്കംചെയ്തു, രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകളിൽ അല്ലതാനും.
He was thirty-two years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem. And he did not walk uprightly. And they buried him in the City of David, yet truly, not in the sepulcher of the kings.
