1 അനന്തരം ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ സൈന്യങ്ങളെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അവർ യെഹൂദെക്കുള്ള സോഖോവിൽ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി സോഖോവിന്നും അസേക്കെക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ ഏഫെസ്-ദമ്മീമിൽ പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

31 ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകൾ പരസ്യമായപ്പോൾ ശൗലിന്നും അറിവു കിട്ടി; അവൻ അവനെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി.

32 ദാവീദ് ശൗലിനോടു: ഇവന്റെ നിമിത്തം ആരും അധൈര്യപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; അടിയൻ ചെന്നു ഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു അങ്കം പൊരുതും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33 ശൗൽ ദാവീദിനോടു: ഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു ചെന്നു അങ്കം പൊരുതുവാൻ നിനക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയില്ല; നീ ബാലൻ അത്രേ; അവനോ, ബാല്യംമുതൽ യോദ്ധാവാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34 ദാവീദ് ശൗലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: അടിയൻ അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകളെ മേയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഒരിക്കൽ ഒരു സിംഹവും ഒരിക്കൽ ഒരു കരടിയും വന്നു കൂട്ടത്തിൽ നിന്നു ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടിയെ പിടിച്ചു.
and to say David to(wards) Saul to pasture to be servant/slave your to/for father his in/on/with flock and to come (in): come [the] lion and with [the] bear and to lift: raise sheep from [the] flock
35 ഞാൻ പിന്തുടർന്നു അതിനെ അടിച്ചു അതിന്റെ വായിൽനിന്നു ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടിയെ വിടുവിച്ചു, അതു എന്റെ നേരെ വന്നപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അതിനെ താടിക്കു പിടിച്ചു അടിച്ചു കൊന്നു.
and to come out: come after him and to smite him and to rescue from lip his and to arise: rise upon me and to strengthen: hold in/on/with beard his and to smite him and to die him
36 ഇങ്ങനെ അടിയൻ സിംഹത്തെയും കരടിയെയും കൊന്നു; ഈ അഗ്രചർമ്മിയായ ഫെലിസ്ത്യൻ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെ നിന്ദിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവനും അവയിൽ ഒന്നിനെപ്പോലെ ആകും.

37 ദാവീദ് പിന്നെയും: സിംഹത്തിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും കരടിയുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും എന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ച യഹോവ ഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ശൗൽ ദാവീദിനോടു: ചെല്ലുക; യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
and to say David LORD which to rescue me from hand [the] lion and from hand [the] bear he/she/it to rescue me from hand: power [the] Philistine [the] this and to say Saul to(wards) David to go: went and LORD to be with you
38 ശൗൽ തന്റെ പടയങ്കി ദാവീദിനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ തലയിൽ താമ്രശിരസ്ത്രം വെച്ചു; തന്റെ കവചവും അവനെ ഇടുവിച്ചു.
and to clothe Saul [obj] David garment his and to give: put helmet bronze upon head his and to clothe [obj] him armor
39 പടയങ്കിമേൽ അവന്റെ വാളും കെട്ടി ദാവീദ് നടപ്പാൻ നോക്കി; എന്നാൽ അവന്നു ശീലമില്ലായിരുന്നു; ദാവീദ് ശൗലിനോടു: ഞാൻ ശീലിച്ചിട്ടില്ലായ്കയാൽ ഇവ ധരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു നടപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, അവയെ ഊരിവെച്ചു.

41 ഫെലിസ്ത്യനും ദാവീദിനോടു അടുത്തു; പരിചക്കാരനും അവന്റെ മുമ്പെ നടന്നു.

42 ഫെലിസ്ത്യൻ നോക്കി ദാവീദിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവനെ നിന്ദിച്ചു; അവൻ തീരെ ബാലനും പവിഴനിറമുള്ളവനും കോമളരൂപനും ആയിരുന്നു.
and to look [the] Philistine and to see: see [obj] David and to despise him for to be youth and red with beautiful appearance
43 ഫെലിസ്ത്യൻ ദാവീദിനോടു: നീ വടികളുമായി എന്റെ നേരെ വരുവാൻ ഞാൻ നായോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു, തന്റെ ദേവന്മാരുടെ നാമം ചൊല്ലി ദാവീദിനെ ശപിച്ചു.
and to say [the] Philistine to(wards) David dog I for you(m. s.) to come (in): come to(wards) me in/on/with rod and to lighten [the] Philistine [obj] David in/on/with God his
44 ഫെലിസ്ത്യൻ പിന്നെയും ദാവീദിനോടു: ഇങ്ങോട്ടു വാ; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ മാംസം ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികൾക്കും കാട്ടിലെ മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കും ഇരയാക്കുന്നുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
and to say [the] Philistine to(wards) David to go: come [emph?] to(wards) me and to give: give [obj] flesh your to/for bird [the] heaven and to/for animal [the] land: country
45 ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ വാളും കുന്തവും വേലുമായി എന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു; ഞാനോ നീ നിന്ദിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള യിസ്രായേൽനിരകളുടെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ നിന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു.
and to say David to(wards) [the] Philistine you(m. s.) to come (in): come to(wards) me in/on/with sword and in/on/with spear and in/on/with javelin and I to come (in): come to(wards) you in/on/with name LORD Hosts God rank Israel which to taunt
46 യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്നെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കൊന്നു നിന്റെ തല ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും; അത്രയുമല്ല ഞാൻ ഇന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ശവങ്ങളെ ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികൾക്കും ഭൂമിയിലെ മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കും ഇരയാക്കും; യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു ദൈവം ഉണ്ടെന്നു സർവ്വഭൂമിയും അറിയും.
