< Salamo 137 >

1 Tañ’olon-tsaka e Bavele eo, ty nitoboha’ay naho nirovetse, t’ie nahatiahy i Tsiône.
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down; yea, we wept when we remembered Zion.
2 Amo sohihy añivo’eo ty nandradoradoa’ay o marovani’aio,
We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
3 Teo ty nihalalia’ o mpanese anaio sabo, naho nipaia’ o mpampisoañ’ anaio rebeke, ami’ty hoe: Isabò o sabo’ i Tsiôneo.
For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that made us wail [required] mirth, [saying, ] Sing us [one] of the songs of Zion.
4 Aa vaho akore ty hisaboentika ty sabo’ Iehovà an-tanen’ ambahiny atoy?
How should we sing a song of Jehovah's upon a foreign soil?
5 Naho haliñoko irehe ry Ierosalaime, le angao ho kombimba ty sirako havana.
If I forget thee, Jerusalem, let my right hand forget [its skill];
6 Adono hipitek’ ami’ty lañilañiko ty lelako, naho tsy mahatiahy azo iraho, lehe tsy aonjoko ambone’ ze mahafale ahiko iaby t’Ierosalaime.
If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to my palate: if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.
7 Tiahio ry Iehovà ty kabò’o amo nte Edomeo tañ’andro’ Ierosalaime: Rotsaho! hoe iereo, akoromaho pak’amo mananta’eo!
Remember, O Jehovah, against the sons of Edom, the day of Jerusalem; who said, Lay [it] bare, Lay [it] bare, down to its foundation!
8 Ry anak-ampela’ i Bavele, harotsake irehe, haha ty hañavak’azo amy nañondroha’o ama’aio.
Daughter of Babylon, who art to be laid waste, happy he that rendereth unto thee that which thou hast meted out to us.
9 Fale ty handrambe o anak’ajaja’oo, handretsake iareo an-damilamy eo.
Happy he that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the rock.
