Ohabolana 7
1 O anake, ambeno o entakoo, vaho akafiro ama’o ao o fepèkoo;
[My] son, keep my words, and hide with you my commandments. [My] son, honour the Lord, and you shall be strong; and fear none but him:
2 Fejaño o lilikoo vaho miveloma, naho i Fañòhakoy manahake ty sainte maso’o;
keep my commandments, and you shall live; and [keep] my words as the pupils of [your] eyes.
3 Arohizo an-drambon-taña’o, sokiro an-takelan-tro’o.
And bind them on your fingers, and write [them] on the table of your heart.
4 Anò ty hoe ty hihitse; Rahavaveko irehe; vaho tokavo ty hoe: Rañetse, ty hilala,
Say that wisdom is your sister, and gain prudence as an acquaintance for yourself;
5 hikalaña’ iareo azo tsy ho ami’ty tsimirirañe, tsy ho amy ambahiny malama firehakey.
that she may keep you from the strange and wicked woman, if she should assail you with flattering words.
6 Izaho an-dalan-keden-akibako ao nitilihitse an-tsingarakarake,
For she looks from a window out of her house into the streets, at one whom she may see of the senseless ones, a young man void of understanding,
7 naho nisamba añivo’ o trentrañeo, nijiloveko an-teñateña’ o gaon-dahio, ty ajalahy tsy aman-dron-doha,
passing by the corner in the passages near her house,
8 nitsake ty lalañe mioza an-kotso’e mb’eo, vaho nikopile mb’an-dalan-tsileke mb’añ’akiba’e mb’eo,
and speaking, in the dark of the evening,
9 am-palipalitsieñe, ie ni-hariva ty andro, amy haien-kaleñe nimoromoroñey.
when there happens [to be] the stillness of night and of darkness:
10 Le heheke ty rakemba mifanalaka ama’e, mihamiñe hoe tsimirirañe, hakalitahañe ty an-tro’e ao.
and the woman meets him having the appearance of a harlot, that causes the hearts of young men to flutter.
11 Ie mitazataza naho miola, tsy mimoneñe añ’akiba’e ao o tombo’eo;
And she is fickle, and debauched, and her feet abide not at home.
12 mbore an-dalañey, mbore an-kiririsa, mijeke amy ze atao fitsileañe.
For at one time she wanders without, and at [another] time she lies in wait in the streets, at every corner.
13 Fejañe’e i lahiy naho orofa’e vaho anoe’e ty hoe an-tarehe miriñake:
Then she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him,
14 Amako ty soron-kanintsiñe vaho navahako anindroany o nifantàkoo;
I have a peace-offering; today I pay my vows:
15 aa le niakatse iraho hifañaoñan-tika, hitsoehako ty tarehe’o; heheke te tendreke.
therefore I came forth to meet you, desiring your face; [and] I have found you.
16 Fa nilafihako i tihikoy, an-deny maviabiake boak’ e Mitsraime.
I have spread my bed with sheets, and I have covered it with double tapestry from Egypt.
17 Fa namitsezako rame ty fandreako, voñem-bahoñe naho romba.
I have sprinkled my couch with saffron, and my house with cinnamon.
18 Antao ito higenoke ty hatea ampara’ te porea’ ty maraindray; antato hifalefale an-katea.
Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love.
19 Tsy añ’anjomba ao ty valiko, fa nifokofoko añe,
For my husband is not at home, but is gone on a long journey,
20 Ninday drala an-koroñe, vaho tsy himpoly naho tsy zava-volañe.
having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house.
21 An-tsiriry maro ty anigiha’e; an-tsoñi’e mamolavola ty anjira’e aze.
So with much converse she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from [the right path].
22 Orihe’ i ajalahiy amy zao, misìtse mb’eo hoe añombe ho lentañe, hoe ty gege an-dongòke ho liloveñe,
And he followed her, being gently led on, and [that] as an ox is led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:
23 ampara’ te trofahañ’ ana-pale ty ate’e; hoe kibo mibororoñe mb’am-palàñe mb’eo, amoea’e t’ie famoeam-piay.
and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for [his] life.
24 Ie amy zao ry anakoo, tsanoño iraho, vaho tsendreño ty entam-bavako.
Now then, [my] son, listen to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Ko ado’o hivio mb’an-dala’e mb’eo ty tro’o; ko mandifike mb’añ’oloñolo’e mb’eo;
Let not your heart turn aside to her ways:
26 amy te maro ty tsinipo’e nifotsake, vaho tsifotofoto o navetra’eo.
for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable.
