1 O anake, ambeno o entakoo, vaho akafiro ama’o ao o fepèkoo;
My son, keep my sayings, and let my rules be stored up with you.
2 Fejaño o lilikoo vaho miveloma, naho i Fañòhakoy manahake ty sainte maso’o;
Keep my rules and you will have life; let my teaching be to you as the light of your eyes;
3 Arohizo an-drambon-taña’o, sokiro an-takelan-tro’o.
Let them be fixed to your fingers, and recorded in your heart.
4 Anò ty hoe ty hihitse; Rahavaveko irehe; vaho tokavo ty hoe: Rañetse, ty hilala,
Say to wisdom, You are my sister; let knowledge be named your special friend:
5 hikalaña’ iareo azo tsy ho ami’ty tsimirirañe, tsy ho amy ambahiny malama firehakey.
So that they may keep you from the strange woman, even from her whose words are smooth.
6 Izaho an-dalan-keden-akibako ao nitilihitse an-tsingarakarake,
Looking out from my house, and watching through the window,
7 naho nisamba añivo’ o trentrañeo, nijiloveko an-teñateña’ o gaon-dahio, ty ajalahy tsy aman-dron-doha,
I saw among the young men one without sense,
8 nitsake ty lalañe mioza an-kotso’e mb’eo, vaho nikopile mb’an-dalan-tsileke mb’añ’akiba’e mb’eo,
Walking in the street near the turn of her road, going on the way to her house,
9 am-palipalitsieñe, ie ni-hariva ty andro, amy haien-kaleñe nimoromoroñey.
At nightfall, in the evening of the day, in the black dark of the night.
10 Le heheke ty rakemba mifanalaka ama’e, mihamiñe hoe tsimirirañe, hakalitahañe ty an-tro’e ao.
And the woman came out to him, in the dress of a loose woman, with a designing heart;
11 Ie mitazataza naho miola, tsy mimoneñe añ’akiba’e ao o tombo’eo;
She is full of noise and uncontrolled; her feet keep not in her house.
12 mbore an-dalañey, mbore an-kiririsa, mijeke amy ze atao fitsileañe.
Now she is in the street, now in the open spaces, waiting at every turning of the road.
13 Fejañe’e i lahiy naho orofa’e vaho anoe’e ty hoe an-tarehe miriñake:
So she took him by his hand, kissing him, and without a sign of shame she said to him:
14 Amako ty soron-kanintsiñe vaho navahako anindroany o nifantàkoo;
I have a feast of peace-offerings, for today my oaths have been effected.
15 aa le niakatse iraho hifañaoñan-tika, hitsoehako ty tarehe’o; heheke te tendreke.
So I came out in the hope of meeting you, looking for you with care, and now I have you.
16 Fa nilafihako i tihikoy, an-deny maviabiake boak’ e Mitsraime.
My bed is covered with cushions of needlework, with coloured cloths of the cotton thread of Egypt;
17 Fa namitsezako rame ty fandreako, voñem-bahoñe naho romba.
I have made my bed sweet with perfumes and spices.
18 Antao ito higenoke ty hatea ampara’ te porea’ ty maraindray; antato hifalefale an-katea.
Come, let us take our pleasure in love till the morning, having joy in love's delights.
19 Tsy añ’anjomba ao ty valiko, fa nifokofoko añe,
For the master of the house is away on a long journey:
20 Ninday drala an-koroñe, vaho tsy himpoly naho tsy zava-volañe.
He has taken a bag of money with him; he is coming back at the full moon.
21 An-tsiriry maro ty anigiha’e; an-tsoñi’e mamolavola ty anjira’e aze.
With her fair words she overcame him, forcing him with her smooth lips.
22 Orihe’ i ajalahiy amy zao, misìtse mb’eo hoe añombe ho lentañe, hoe ty gege an-dongòke ho liloveñe,
The simple man goes after her, like an ox going to its death, like a roe pulled by a cord;
23 ampara’ te trofahañ’ ana-pale ty ate’e; hoe kibo mibororoñe mb’am-palàñe mb’eo, amoea’e t’ie famoeam-piay.
Like a bird falling into a net; with no thought that his life is in danger, till an arrow goes into his side.
24 Ie amy zao ry anakoo, tsanoño iraho, vaho tsendreño ty entam-bavako.
So now, my sons, give ear to me; give attention to the sayings of my mouth;
25 Ko ado’o hivio mb’an-dala’e mb’eo ty tro’o; ko mandifike mb’añ’oloñolo’e mb’eo;
Let not your heart be turned to her ways, do not go wandering in her footsteps.
26 amy te maro ty tsinipo’e nifotsake, vaho tsifotofoto o navetra’eo.
For those wounded and made low by her are great in number; and all those who have come to their death through her are a great army.
27 Minday mb’an-Tsikeokeoke mb’eo ty akiba’e, mizotso mb’añ’ akiban-kavilasy ao. (Sheol h7585)
Her house is the way to the underworld, going down to the rooms of death. (Sheol h7585)
