< Ohabolana 4 >

1 Tsanoño ry anake, ty fanoroan-drae, itsendreño hahazoa’ areo hilala;
Hear, [my] sons, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding:
2 fa nanolorako fiohan-tsoa: aa le ko apo’ areo ty Fañòhako
For I give you good doctrine; forsake ye not my law.
3 Izaho anadahin-draeko, nitrotrotrotro, bako tokañe ampahaisahan-dreneko,
For I was a son unto my father, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4 le nanareñe ahy ty hoe: ampifaharo an-tro’o ao o entakoo; tambozoro o lilikoo hiveloma’o
And he taught me, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words; keep my commandments, and live:
5 Manaña hihitse; mitohà hilala: ko mañaliño, vaho ko miamboho amo volam-bavakoo;
Get wisdom, get understanding; forget [it] not, neither decline from the words of my mouth:
6 Ko apo’o, le harova’e; ikokò, le hambena’e.
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Hihitse ty lohà’e, aa le manàña hihitse, eka, mangalà hilala amy ze hene famoria’o.
Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: yea, with all thou hast gotten get understanding.
8 Onjono re le honjone’e irehe; hiasia’e te fihine’o.
Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9 Hampihamine’e voñe vinanditse an-doha’o, ho tolora’e sabaka fanjàka.
She shall give to thine head a chaplet of grace: a crown of beauty shall she deliver to thee.
10 Mitsanoña ahy, anake, vaho iantofo o entakoo, hañamaroañe ty taon-kavelo’o.
Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11 Fa nitalifirako mb’an-dalan-kihitse; naho nitehafeko mb’amo lalan-kavantañañeo.
I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.
12 Ie mitsontike, tsy ho sebañeñe o lia’oo; ihe milay, tsy hitsikapy.
When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Vontitiro ty anatse le ko apo’o, ambeno amy t’ie ro havelo’o.
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14 Ko mitsile mb’añ’oloñolo’ o lo-tserekeo vaho ko andenà’o ty lala’ o tsivokatseo.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and walk not in the way of evil men.
15 Ihankaño, ko miary eo, iholiaro vaho mihelaña.
Avoid it, pass not by it; turn from it, and pass on.
16 Ie tsy miroro hey naho tsy mandilatse; tinavañ’ am’iereo ty firotse ampara’ te mitsikapy.
For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17 Fihina’ iereo ty lintsen-karatiañe vaho genohe’ iereo ty divain-kasiahañe.
For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18 Manahake ty hazavà’ i manjirik’ àndroy ty lala’ o vantañeo, ie mihamazava erike ampara’ te mipisañe.
But the path of the righteous is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 Hoe fimoromoroñañe ty lala’ o lo-tserekeo, ie tsy maharendreke te mahatsikapy.
The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
20 O anake, tsendreño o fivolakoo; anokilaño sofy o lañonakoo.
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Ko enga’o hihake amo maso’oo; f’ie ahajao an-tro’o ao.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 Amy t’ie haveloñe amo maharendrekeo, toe fijanganañe ho an-tsandri’iareo iaby.
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23 Ambeno am-pilozohañe ty tro’o, fa boak’ama’e o fanganahanan-dranon-kaveloñeo.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24 Asioro ama’o ty vava mengoke, vaho ihankaño o soñy mikelokeo.
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Ampañenteo mahity o maso’oo, vaho ampivantaño mañaolo o holi-maso’oo.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Jilovo ty fombàn-tombo’o, le hijadoñe soa o lia’oo.
Make level the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27 Ko mivio mb’an-kavana ndra mb’ankavia; fa ampandifiho ty raty o tombo’oo.
Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
