1 O anake, ko haliño o entakoo le ampañambeno ty tro’o o lilikoo,
My son, forget not my teaching; but let thy heart keep my commandments;
2 Le halavan’andro naho taon-kavelo vaho fierañerañañe ty hatovoñ’ ama’o.
For length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to thee.
3 Ko ado’o hieng’azo ty fatarihañe naho ty hatò; rohizo am-bozo’o eo, sokiro an-takelan-tro’o ao,
Let not kindness and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck, write them upon the table of thy heart;
4 hahaoniña’o hamaràm-bintañe vaho tahinañe soa ampivazohoan’ Añahare naho ondatio.
So shalt thou find grace and good favour in the sight of God and man.
5 Miatoa am’ Iehovà an-kaampon-tro’o vaho ko iatoa’o ty hilala’o;
Trust in the LORD with all thy heart, and lean not upon thine own understanding.
6 Iantofo amy ze hene lia’o, le ho vantañe’e o lala’oo.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths.
7 Ko manao mahihitse a maso’o; mirevendreveña am’ Iehovà vaho ihankaño ty hatsivokarañe,
Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the LORD, and depart from evil;
8 ie ho fijangañan-tsandri’o, vaho fameloman-taola’o.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Iasio t’Iehovà amo vara’oo, naho ami’ty lohavoa’ o nampitomboe’oo;
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase;
10 Le handopolopo, hamopòke ty an-driha’o ao vaho handopatse divay vao o sajoa’oo.
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy vats shall overflow with new wine.
11 O anake, ko sirikae’o ty fandilova’ Iehovà ko heje’o o fañendaha’eo,
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD, neither spurn thou His correction;
12 fa lilove’ Iehovà ty kokoa’e, hambañe ami’ty rae i anadahy ampokofe’ey.
For whom the LORD loveth He correcteth, even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
13 Haha t’ indaty mahaonin-kihitse, naho t’indaty itomboan-kilala,
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that obtaineth understanding.
14 fa lombolombo ty fitomboam-bolafoty ty fibodobodoa’e, vaho ambonem-bolamena ty havokara’e.
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15 Sarotse te amo safirao vaho tsy amo salalae’oo ty mañirinkiriñ’aze.
She is more precious than rubies; and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16 Lava-havelo ty am-pitàn-kavana’e vara naho asiñe ro am-pitàn-kavia’e.
Length of days is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honour.
17 Lalam-panintsiñañe o lala’eo, vaho fierañerañañe o lalam-pandia’eo.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18 Hataen-kavelon-dre amo mivontititse ama’eo; naho hene haha ze mamejañe aze.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her, and happy is every one that holdest her fast.
19 Hihitse ty nañoriza’ Iehovà ty tane toy; Hilala ty nampijadoña’e o likerañeo;
The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens.
20 O hilala’eo ro ampiborahañe o lalekeo, vaho ampitsopaha’ o rahoñeo mika.
By His knowledge the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.
21 O anake, asoao tsy hisitake am-pahatreava’o ao o raha zao: vontitiro ty hihitse to naho ty filieram-batañe,
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion;
22 hamelombeloñe ty tro’o, naho handravake ty vozo’o.
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23 Le handena’o an-kanintsiñe ty lia’o, vaho tsy hikotrofotse ty tombo’o.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely, and thou shalt not dash thy foot.
24 Tsy ho hembañe te mandre; eka ie mihitsy, ho mamy ty firoro’o.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid; yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25 Ko mianifañe te ivotraha’ ty mampangebahebake, ndra ty fampiantoañe o lo-tserekeo te mifetsake.
Be not afraid of sudden terror, neither of the destruction of the wicked, when it cometh;
26 fa Iehovà ro hatokisa’o naho hitañe ty tombo’o tsy ho fandriheñe.
For the LORD will be thy confidence, and will keep thy foot from being caught.
27 Ko tana’o ami’ty mañeva ty soa, naho an-taña’o ty mahaeneñe aze.
Withhold not good from him to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
28 Ko manao ty hoe am’ondatio: Akia hey, le mibaliha, vaho hamaray ty hanolorako azo— ie ama’o ao avao.
Say not unto thy neighbour: 'Go, and come again, and to-morrow I will give'; when thou hast it by thee.
29 Ko mikitro-draty am’ ondatio, ie mimoneñe am-patokisañe marine’ azo.
Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
30 Ko liera’o tsi-aman-tali’e ty ondaty tsy nanjoam-boiñe.
Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
31 Ko tsikirihe’o t’indaty piaroteñe vaho ko joboñe’o o sata’eo;
Envy thou not the man of violence, and choose none of his ways.
32 tiva am’ Iehovà ty mengoke; fe itraofa’e safiry ty vantañe.
For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD; but His counsel is with the upright.
33 Nafà’ Iehovà ty akiba’ o lo-tserekeo, fe tahie’e ty kivoho’ o vantañeo.
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked; but He blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
34 Toe ati’e o mpanitseo, fe isohe’e ty mpireke.
If it concerneth the scorners, He scorneth them, but unto the humble He giveth grace.
35 Handova hasiñe o mahihitseo, fa onjone’ o seretseo ka ty mahasalatse.
The wise shall inherit honour; but as for the fools, they carry away shame.
