1 Mampitolike habosehañe ty rehake malea, fe mitrobo haviñerañe ty volam-peha’e.
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2 Mitolon-kilala an-katò ty famele’ i mahihitse, fe mipororoake hagegeañe ty vava’ i dagola.
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
3 Manitsike ze hene toetse o fihaino’ Iehovào, misary ty raty naho ty soa.
The eyes of the LORD [are] in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4 Hataen-kaveloñe ty fameleke mamere, fe mampikoritoke troke naho ama’e ty hamengohañe.
A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life: but perverseness in it [is] a breach in the spirit.
5 mañìnje ty fañòhan-drae’e ty dagola, fe mahilala ty mañaoñ’ anatse.
A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6 Vara bey ty añ’anjomba’ o vañoñeo, fe manolo-tsotry ty tombom-baro’ i lahiaga.
In the house of the righteous [is] much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7 Mampiboele hilala ty fivimbi’ o mahihitseo; fe tsy izay ty tro’ i dagola.
The lips of the wise diffuse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish [doeth] not so.
8 Veta am’ Iehovà ty fisoroña’ o lo-tserekeo, fe ifalea’e ty halali’ o vantañeo.
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright [is] his delight.
9 Tiva am’ Iehovà ty taro’ i lahiaga, fe kokoa’e ty mañean-kavantañañe.
The way of the wicked [is] an abomination to the LORD; but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10 Mampalovilovy ty mandrìke amy lalañey te lafaeñe, mikoromake ty malaiñ’ endake.
Correction [is] grievous to him that forsaketh the way: [and] he that hateth reproof shall die.
11 Mivañavaña añatrefa’ Iehovà ty tanen-dolo naho i tsikeokeoke, sandrake ty arofo’ ondaty! (Sheol )
Hell and destruction [are] before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? (Sheol )
12 Tsy kokoa’ ty mpanivetive te ereteñe; tsy tilihe’e ty mahihitse.
A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go to the wise.
13 Mampaviake vintañe ty arofo misomobotsòboke, fe mahafola-paiañe ty troke ngoma.
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14 Mpitsoeke hilala ty troke maharendreke, fe mampibotseke hagegeañe ty vava’ i dagola.
The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
15 Fonga mavoiñe ty andro’ o misotrio, fe mitolon-tsabadidake ty arofo minembanembañe.
All the days of the afflicted [are] evil: but he that is of a merry heart [hath] a continual feast.
16 Hàmake ty kedeke mitrao-pañeveñañe am’ Iehovà, ta ty vara-bey reketse hekoheko.
Better [is] little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and trouble with it.
17 Kitra’e anjotsoañe añañe am-pikokoañe, ta te anozoañe temboay vinondrake am-palaiñañe.
Better [is] a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred with it.
18 Mitrobo hotakotake ty mpiloa-tiñake, fe mampipendreñe fifandierañe ty malaon-kaviñerañe.
A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but [he that is] slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19 Iremberembeam-patike te añ’oloñolo’ i votro, fe dinamoke ty lala’ i vañoñey.
The way of the slothful [man is] as a hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous [is] made plain.
20 Mahafale an-drae ty anake mahihitse, fe mañìnje rene t’indaty gege.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Hagegeañe ty mahaehake i seretse, fe vantan-dia t’indaty mahilala.
Folly [is] joy to [him that is] destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
22 Milesa ty safiry po-panolo-kevetse, fe mahaeneke te maro mpanoro.
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established.
23 Mahafale ondaty te mahafanoiñe ty falie’e, akore ty hasoa’ ty saontsy tandrife.
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word [spoken] in due season, how good [it is]!
24 Mañambone ty lala’ o mahihitseo, iholiara’e i tsikeokeoke ambane ao. (Sheol )
The way of life [is] above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. (Sheol )
25 Hombota’ Iehovà ty akiba’ o mpirengevokeo, fe ajado’e ty efe-tane’ i vantotsey.
The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26 Tiva am’ Iehovà o fikitrofañeo, fe hiringiry ty saontsy mampanintsy.
The thoughts of the wicked [are] an abomination to the LORD: but [the words] of the pure [are] pleasant words.
27 Manolo-tsotry ty akiba’e ty mamory an-katramo, fe ho veloñe ty malaim-bokàñe.
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28 Mañereñere ty hanoiña’e ty arofo’ i vantañey, fe mampipororoake haratiañe ty falie’ i lahiaga.
The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 Lavitse o raty tserekeo t’Iehovà, fe janji’e ty halali’ o vañoñeo.
The LORD [is] far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 Mahafale arofo ty fihaino miloeloe, vaho solik’ an-taolañe ty talily soa.
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; [and] a good report maketh the bones fat.
31 Amo mahihitseo ty himoneña’ ty aman-dravembia mitsendreñe anatse mahaveloñe.
The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
32 Mañìnje ty vata’e ty malaiñ’ endake, fe manonton-kilala ty mitsatsike fanoroañe.
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
33 Fañòhañe hihitse ty fañeveñañe am’ Iehovà, miaolo ty asiñe te mireke.
The fear of the LORD [is] the instruction of wisdom: and before honor is humility.
