1 Miantoke ty lafan-drae’e ty ajaja karafito, fe tsy mañaon-trevoke ty mpiteratera.
A wise son listeneth to the instruction of his father; But a scoffer listeneth not to rebuke.
2 Ty havokaran-tsaontsi’ ondatio ro ikama’e raha mafiry, fe tsihavokarañe ty fañiria’ o mpitroboo.
By the fruit of a man's mouth he shall eat good; But the appetite of transgressors shall be sated with violence.
3 Mahatan-kavelo ty mahambeñe ty falie’e; mianto ka ty mampidañadaña fivimby.
He who keepeth his mouth keepeth his life; But destruction shall be to him who openeth wide his lips.
4 Tea-haneñe ty votroo, fe tsy mahazo; ho anjañeñe ka ty mavitrike.
The appetite of the sluggard longeth, and hath nothing; But the appetite of the diligent is fully satisfied.
5 Malain-dremborake ty vañoñe, fe manao ty hameñarañe naho hasalarañe ty lahiaga.
A righteous man hateth words of falsehood; But a wicked man causeth disgrace and shame.
6 Mahambeñe i an-dalam-bantañey ty havañonañe, fe mamotsake ty mpanan-kakeo o hatsivokarañeo.
Righteousness preserveth him who is upright in his way; But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 Eo ty miamoke ho mpañefoefo fe poi’e; eo ka ty manao ho rarake f’ie mpañaleale.
There is who maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing, Who maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8 Mahajebañe ty fiai’ ondaty o vara’eo, fe tsy mañaom-pañembàñañe ty rarake.
A man's wealth is the ransom of his life; But the poor man heareth no threatenings.
9 Mirebeke ty failo’ o vantañeo, fe hakipeke ty jiro’ i lahiaga.
The light of the righteous shall rejoice; But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 Fifandierañe avao ty ente’ ty fibohabohañe, fe hihitse ty rambese’ ty mañaom-bere.
By pride cometh only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.
11 Mikepake ty vara niazo an-tsata koake, fa mampitombo ka ty mitromake hanontoña’e.
Wealth gotten by vanity will become small; But he who gathereth it into the hand increaseth it.
12 Mampikoretse arofo ty fitamañe nihànkañe, fe hataen-kaveloñe ty salala niheneke.
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; But the desire accomplished is a tree of life.
13 Hanaña’ i tsaray songo ty manirìka aze, fe ho tambezeñe ty mañeveñe amo lilio.
He that despiseth the word shall be destroyed; But he who revereth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 Figoangoañan-kavelo ty Fañòha’ o mahihitseo hiholiara’e o fandrin-kavilasio.
The instruction of the wise is a fountain of life; By it men escape from the snares of death.
15 Tendreke fañisohañe ty hilala soa, fe tomoantoañe ty lala’ o manao bodongeroo.
A good understanding winneth favor; But the way of transgressors is hard.
16 Hene mitoloñe an-kilala ze hendre, fe hagegeañe ty aboa’ i dagolay.
Every prudent man acteth with knowledge; But a fool spreadeth abroad his folly.
17 Mivariñ’an-dama ty irake vìlañe, fe fijanganañe ty mpihitrike migahiñe.
A wicked messenger falleth into trouble; But a faithful ambassador is health.
18 Hararahañe naho hasalarañe ty hizò ty tsi-mañaon-dafa, iasiañe ka ty miantok’ endake.
Poverty and shame are for him who rejecteth instruction; But he that regardeth reproof shall come to honor.
19 Mamy an-troke ty fisalalàñe heneke, fe mamparitsike i dagola ty isitaha’e ty raty.
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 Miha-mahihitse te miharo lia ami’ty mahihitse, f’ie halovilovy te mpiami’ty gege.
He who walketh with wise men shall be wise; But the companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 Tokoen-kasotriañe ty aman-kakeo, fe firaoraoañe ty anambezañe o vantañeo.
Calamity pursueth the wicked; But the righteous is rewarded with good.
22 Mampandova amo anan’ ana’eo ty vañoñe, fe mihaja ho a o vantañeo ty vara’ o piaroteñeo.
The good man leaveth his substance to his children's children; But the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
23 Bey ty havokarañe an-tane-hoba’ i rarakey, fe ifaopaoha’ ty tsy-hatò.
There is much food from the fallow-ground of the poor; But there is who is brought low for want of uprightness.
24 Malaiñ-anake ty mampipoke fikiso, fe mikoko aze ty mipiso am-pahimbañañe.
He that spareth the rod hateth his son; But he who loveth him chasteneth him early.
25 Mahaeneñe ty tro’e ty mahakama’ i vantañey, fe kefoke ty fisafoa’ i lahiaga.
The righteous man eateth to the satisfying of his desire; But the stomach of the wicked suffereth want.
