Now the children of Reuben [See, a son!] and the children of Gad [Good fortune] had a very great multitude of livestock. When they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that behold, the place was a place for livestock;

the children of Gad [Good fortune] and the children of Reuben [See, a son!] came and spoke to Moses [Drawn out], and to Eleazar [Help of God] the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,
3 I Ataròte naho i Dibone, naho Iaazère, naho i Nimrà, naho i Kesbòne, naho i Elalè, naho i Sebàme, naho i Nebò vaho i Beòne;
“Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,
4 i tane ginio’ Iehovà añatrefa’ i valobohò’ Israeleiy, le tane fiandrazañe añombe, vaho aman’ añombe o mpitoro’oo.
the land which Adonai struck before the congregation of Israel [God prevails], is a land for livestock; and your servants have livestock.”
5 Tinovo’ iereo ty hoe: Aa naho nisoheñe am-pahaisaha’o, le atoloro amo mpitoro’oo i tane zay ho fanaña’e, fa ko minday anay hitsake Iardeney.
They said, “If we have found chen ·grace· in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession. Don’t bring us over the Jordan [Descender].”
6 Aa hoe ty navale’i Mosè o ana’i Gadeo naho o ana’ i Reobeneo, Aa vaho hiatrek’ aly o rahalahi’ areoo, le hihànitse atoy avao nahareo?
Moses [Drawn out] said to the children of Gad [Good fortune], and to the children of Reuben [See, a son!], “Shall your brothers go to the war, and shall you sit here?
7 Ino ty hampimamoa’ areo ty arofo’ o ana’ Israeleo tsy hitsaha’e mb’an-tane nitolora’ Iehovà mb’eo?
Why do you discourage the heart of the children of Israel [God prevails] from going over into the land which Adonai has given them?
8 Izay ty nanoen-droae’ areo te niraheko boak’e Kadese-Barnea hitilike i taney.
Your fathers did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea [Consecrated Son-inconstant] to see the land.
9 Amy t’ie nionjoñe mb’ am-bavatane’ i Eskòle mb’eo vaho nahaoniñe i taney le nahamohake ty arofo’ o ana’ Israeleo tsy hizilik’ an-tane natolo’ Iehovà iareo.
For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel [God prevails], that they should not go into the land which Adonai had given them.
10 Aa le nisolebotse amy andro zay ty haviñera’ Iehovà vaho nifanta ty hoe:
Adonai’s anger burned in that day, and he swore, saying,
11 Toe tsy amo lahilahy roapolo taoñe mañambone niavotse i Mitsraimeo ty hahaisake ty tane nifantàko amy Avrahame naho am’ Ietsàke naho am’ Iakòbe, amy t’ie tsy nañorik’ ahiko añ-kaàmpon-troke,
‘Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt [Abode of slavery], from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham [Father of a multitude], to Isaac [Laughter], and to Jacob [Supplanter]; because they have not wholly followed me,
12 naho tsy i Kalebe ana’ Iefonè nte-Kenàze naho Iehosoa, ana’ i None, amy te norihe’ iareo an-kaliforan’ arofo t’Iehovà.
except Caleb [Dog] the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua [Yah Salvation] the son of Nun; because they have followed Adonai completely.’
13 Aa le niforoforo am’ Israele ty haviñera’ Iehovà vaho nampirerererè’e am-patrambey añe efa-polo taoñe, am-para’ te nimodo iaby i tariratse nanao raty am-pivazohoa’ Iehovày.
Adonai’s anger burned against Israel [God prevails], and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, who had done evil in Adonai’s sight, was consumed.
14 Le heheke! t’ie nitroatse handimbe an-droae’ areo nifirimboñan-kalòn-tserekeo, hanitrà’ areo ty haviñerañe mitrotrofiak’ Iehovà am’ Israele.
“Behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of men who sin ·intentionally miss the mark goal·, to increase the fierce anger of Adonai toward Israel [God prevails].
15 Aa ie miamboho, tsy mañorik’ aze, le ho farie’e am-patrambey ao indraike iereo, toly ndra harotsa’ areo ondaty retiañe.
For if you turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all these people.”
16 Aa le niharivoa’ iareo nanao ty hoe: Hañamboara’ay goloboñe atoy o hare’aio vaho rova ho a o keleia’aio,
They came near to him, and said, “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones;

but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel [God prevails], until we have brought them to their place. Our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
18 Tsy himpoly mb’ añ’ anjomba’ay mb’eo zahay naho tsy songa nandrambe ty lova’e o ana’ Israeleo.
We will not teshuvah ·completely return· to our houses, until the children of Israel [God prevails] have each inherited their inheritance.
19 Tsy hitrao-dova am’ iereo alafe’ Iardeney añe zahay, amy te nitsatoke ho anay atiñana’ Iardeney atoy ty lova’ay.
For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan [Descender], and forward; because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan [Descender] eastward.”
20 Hoe t’i Mosè am’ iereo: Aa naho toe hanoe’ areo izay, t’ie hitan-defoñe aolo’ Iehovà veka’e hialy,
Moses [Drawn out] said to them, “If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Adonai to the war,
21 naho songa hitsake Iardaney añatrefa’ Iehovà o lahin-defo’ areoo, ampara’ te fonga hanoe’e soike aolo’e eo o rafelahi’eo,
and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan [Descender] before Adonai, until he has driven out his enemies from before him,
22 naho hene vinahotse añatrefa’ Iehovà i taney; izay vaho himpoly nahareo, le ho afa-tahiñe añatrefa’ Iehovà naho aolo’ Israele, vaho ho fanaña’ areo añatrefa’ Iehovà ty tane atoy.
and the land is subdued before Adonai; then afterward you shall teshuvah ·completely return·, and be guiltless towards Adonai, and towards Israel [God prevails]; and this land shall be to you for a possession before Adonai.
23 F’ie tsy hanoe’ areo, le inao! hanan-kakeo am’ Iehovà; le iantofo te hifanojo ama’ areo ty tahi’ areo.
“But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)· against Adonai; and be sure your habitual sin ·missing the mark· will find you out.
24 Añoreño rova o keleia’ areoo vaho goloboño o añondri’ areoo, le ano o nakarem-palie’ areo iabio.
Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth.”
25 Aa le nanao ty hoe amy Mosè o nte-Gadeo naho o nte-Reòbeneo: Hanoe’ o mpitoro’oo ze andilian-talè’ay.
The children of Gad [Good fortune] and the children of Reuben [See, a son!] spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying, “Your servants will do as my lord enjoins us.

Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;

Moses [Drawn out] said to them, “If the children of Gad [Good fortune] and the children of Reuben [See, a son!] will pass with you over the Jordan [Descender], every man who is armed to battle, before Adonai, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;
30 F’ie tsy mitsake reke-pialiañe mindre ama’ areo le hanam-panañañe miharo ama’ areo an-tane Kanàne ao.
