1 Ie amy zao ni-tsifotofoto ty añombe’ i fifokoa’ i Reòbene naho i Gade rey; aa ie nahaisake ty tane’ Ia’azère naho ty tane’ i Gilade, t’ie toe tane fiandrazañe añombe,
And the children of Ruben and the children of Gad had a multitude of cattle, very great; and they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Galaad; and the place was a place for cattle:
2 le nimb’amy Mosè naho i Elazare mpisoroñe naho mb’amo talè’ i valobohòkeio mb’eo o ana’ i Gadeo naho o ana’ i Reòbeneo ninday ty saontsy ty hoe:
and the children of Ruben and the children of Gad came, and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,
3 I Ataròte naho i Dibone, naho Iaazère, naho i Nimrà, naho i Kesbòne, naho i Elalè, naho i Sebàme, naho i Nebò vaho i Beòne;
Ataroth, and Daebon, and Jazer, and Namra, and Esebon, and Eleale, and Sebama, and Nabau, and Baean,
4 i tane ginio’ Iehovà añatrefa’ i valobohò’ Israeleiy, le tane fiandrazañe añombe, vaho aman’ añombe o mpitoro’oo.
the land which the Lord has delivered up before the children of Israel, is pasture land, and your servants have cattle.
5 Tinovo’ iereo ty hoe: Aa naho nisoheñe am-pahaisaha’o, le atoloro amo mpitoro’oo i tane zay ho fanaña’e, fa ko minday anay hitsake Iardeney.
And they said, If we have found grace in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession, and do not cause us to pass over Jordan.
6 Aa hoe ty navale’i Mosè o ana’i Gadeo naho o ana’ i Reobeneo, Aa vaho hiatrek’ aly o rahalahi’ areoo, le hihànitse atoy avao nahareo?
And Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall you sit here?
7 Ino ty hampimamoa’ areo ty arofo’ o ana’ Israeleo tsy hitsaha’e mb’an-tane nitolora’ Iehovà mb’eo?
And why do you pervert the minds of the children of Israel, that they should not cross over into the land, which the Lord gives them?
8 Izay ty nanoen-droae’ areo te niraheko boak’e Kadese-Barnea hitilike i taney.
Did not your fathers thus, when I sent them from Cades Barne to spy out the land?
9 Amy t’ie nionjoñe mb’ am-bavatane’ i Eskòle mb’eo vaho nahaoniñe i taney le nahamohake ty arofo’ o ana’ Israeleo tsy hizilik’ an-tane natolo’ Iehovà iareo.
And they went up to the valley of the cluster, and spied the land, and turned aside the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land, which the Lord gave them.
10 Aa le nisolebotse amy andro zay ty haviñera’ Iehovà vaho nifanta ty hoe:
And the Lord was very angry in that day, and sware, saying,
11 Toe tsy amo lahilahy roapolo taoñe mañambone niavotse i Mitsraimeo ty hahaisake ty tane nifantàko amy Avrahame naho am’ Ietsàke naho am’ Iakòbe, amy t’ie tsy nañorik’ ahiko añ-kaàmpon-troke,
Surely these men who came up out of Egypt from twenty years old and upward, who know good and evil, shall not see the land which I sware [to give] to Abraam and Isaac and Jacob, for they have not closely followed after me:
12 naho tsy i Kalebe ana’ Iefonè nte-Kenàze naho Iehosoa, ana’ i None, amy te norihe’ iareo an-kaliforan’ arofo t’Iehovà.
save Caleb the son of Jephonne, who was set apart, and Joshua the son of Naue, for they closely followed after the Lord.
13 Aa le niforoforo am’ Israele ty haviñera’ Iehovà vaho nampirerererè’e am-patrambey añe efa-polo taoñe, am-para’ te nimodo iaby i tariratse nanao raty am-pivazohoa’ Iehovày.
And the Lord was very angry with Israel; and for forty years he caused them to wander in the wilderness, until all the generation which did evil in the sight of the Lord was extinct.
14 Le heheke! t’ie nitroatse handimbe an-droae’ areo nifirimboñan-kalòn-tserekeo, hanitrà’ areo ty haviñerañe mitrotrofiak’ Iehovà am’ Israele.
Behold, you are risen up in the room of your fathers, a combination of sinful men, to increase yet farther the fierce wrath of the Lord against Israel.
15 Aa ie miamboho, tsy mañorik’ aze, le ho farie’e am-patrambey ao indraike iereo, toly ndra harotsa’ areo ondaty retiañe.
For you will turn away from him to desert him yet once more in the wilderness, and you will sin against this whole congregation.
16 Aa le niharivoa’ iareo nanao ty hoe: Hañamboara’ay goloboñe atoy o hare’aio vaho rova ho a o keleia’aio,
And they came to him, and said, We will build here folds for our cattle, and cities for our possessions;
17 fe hitan-defon-jahay hiaolo o ana’ Israeleo ampara’ te nasese’ay an-toe’ iareo añe. Ie amy zay himoneñe an-drova iarikatohan-kijoly ao ty amo mpimoneñe amy taneio o keleia’aio.
and we will arm ourselves and go as an advanced guard before the children of Israel, until we shall have brought them into their place; and our possessions shall remain in walled cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
18 Tsy himpoly mb’ añ’ anjomba’ay mb’eo zahay naho tsy songa nandrambe ty lova’e o ana’ Israeleo.
We will not return to our houses till the children of Israel shall have been distributed, each to his own inheritance.
19 Tsy hitrao-dova am’ iereo alafe’ Iardeney añe zahay, amy te nitsatoke ho anay atiñana’ Iardeney atoy ty lova’ay.
And we will not any longer inherit with them from the other side of Jordan and onwards, because we have our full inheritance on the side beyond Jordan eastward.
20 Hoe t’i Mosè am’ iereo: Aa naho toe hanoe’ areo izay, t’ie hitan-defoñe aolo’ Iehovà veka’e hialy,
And Moses said to them, If you will do according to these words, if you will arm yourselves before the Lord for battle,
21 naho songa hitsake Iardaney añatrefa’ Iehovà o lahin-defo’ areoo, ampara’ te fonga hanoe’e soike aolo’e eo o rafelahi’eo,
and every one of you will pass over Jordan fully armed before the Lord, until his enemy be destroyed from before his face,
22 naho hene vinahotse añatrefa’ Iehovà i taney; izay vaho himpoly nahareo, le ho afa-tahiñe añatrefa’ Iehovà naho aolo’ Israele, vaho ho fanaña’ areo añatrefa’ Iehovà ty tane atoy.
and the land shall be subdued before the Lord, then afterwards you shall return, and be guiltless before the Lord, and as regards Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before the Lord.
23 F’ie tsy hanoe’ areo, le inao! hanan-kakeo am’ Iehovà; le iantofo te hifanojo ama’ areo ty tahi’ areo.
But if you will not do so, you will sin against the Lord; and you shall know your sin, when afflictions shall come upon you.
24 Añoreño rova o keleia’ areoo vaho goloboño o añondri’ areoo, le ano o nakarem-palie’ areo iabio.
And you shall build for yourselves cities for your store, and folds for your cattle; and you shall do that which proceeds out of your mouth.
25 Aa le nanao ty hoe amy Mosè o nte-Gadeo naho o nte-Reòbeneo: Hanoe’ o mpitoro’oo ze andilian-talè’ay.
And the sons of Ruben and the sons of Gad spoke to Moses, saying, Your servants will do as our lord commands.
26 Hitobe amo rova’ i Giladeo o keleia’aio naho o vali’aio vaho o hare’ay iabio,
Our store, and our wives, and all our cattle shall be in the cities of Galaad.
27 fe hitsake mb’eo o mpitoro’oo, songa lahilahy aman-defoñe veka’e hialy hihotakotake ho a Iehovà, amy nandilia’ i talèkoiy.
But your servants will go over all armed and set in order before the Lord to battle, as [our] lord says.
28 Aa le linili’i Mosè t’i Elazare mpisoroñe naho Iehosoa ana’ i None vaho o talèn’ anjombam-pifokoa’ Israeleo ty am’ iereo,
And Moses appointed to them [for judges] Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Naue, and the chiefs of the families of the tribes of Israel.
29 le nanoe’ i Mosè ty hoe: Naho mindre ama’ areo mitsake Iardeney añatrefa’ Iehovà ze hene mpitan-defo veka’e hialy amo ana’ i Gadeo naho amo ana’ i Reòbeneo, naho ampiambanèñe aolo’ areo i taney, le atoloro iareo ty tane’ i Gilade ho fanaña’e.
And Moses said to them, If the sons of Ruben and the sons of Gad will pass over Jordan with you, every one armed for war before the Lord, and you shall subdue the land before you, then you shall give to them the land of Galaad for a possession.
30 F’ie tsy mitsake reke-pialiañe mindre ama’ areo le hanam-panañañe miharo ama’ areo an-tane Kanàne ao.
But if they will not pass over armed with you to war before the Lord, then shall you cause to pass over their possessions and their wives and their cattle before you into the land of Chanaan, and they shall inherit with you in the land of Chanaan.
31 Le hoe ty natoi’ o nte-Gadeo naho o nte-Reòbeneo, Ze nitsara’ Iehovà amo mpitoro’oo ro hanoe’ay.
And the sons of Ruben and the sons of Gad answered, saying, Whatsoever the Lord says to his servants, that will we do.
32 Hitsake reke-pialiañe añatrefa’ Iehovà zahay mb’ an-tane Kanàne mb’ eo fe hitobok’ atiñana’ Iardeney atoy ty hanañañe nilovà’aiy.
We will go over armed before the Lord into the land of Chanaan, and you shall give us our inheritance beyond Jordan.
33 Aa le natolo’ i Mosè amo nte-Gadeo naho amo nte-Reòbeneo vaho ami’ty vakim-pifokoa’ i Menasè ana’ Iosefe, ty fehe’ i Sihone mpanjaka’ o nte-Amoreo naho ty fehe’ i Oge mpanjaka’ i Basàne, i taney rekets’ o rova’eo naho o tanàñe mañohokeo rekets’ o tane’eo.
And Moses gave to them, even to the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben, and to the half tribe of Manasse of the sons of Joseph, the kingdom of Seon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Basan, the land and its cities with its coasts, the cities of the land round about.
34 Le namboare’ o nte-Gadeo ty Dibòne, naho i Ataròte, naho i Aroère,
And the sons of Gad built Daebon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35 naho i Atròte-sofàne, naho Ia’azère, naho Iogbehà,
and Sophar, and Jazer, and they set them up,
36 naho i Bète Nimrà, vaho i Bete Haràne, songa rova aman-kijoly naho golobon’ añondry.
and Namram, and Baetharan, strong cities, and folds for sheep.
37 Le namboare’ o nte-Reòbeneo ty Kesbòne, naho i Elalè, vaho i Kiriatàime,
And the sons of Ruben built Esebon, and Eleale, and Kariatham,
38 naho i Nibò, naho i Baalmeòne, (ie novaeñe o añara’ iareoo) vaho i Sebàme, le nomeañe añarañe ze rova namboare’ iereo.
and Beelmeon, surrounded [with walls], and Sebama; and they called the names of the cities which they built, after their own names.
39 Le nomb’e Gilade mb’eo o tarira’ i Makire ana’ i Menasèo le tinava’ iereo vaho nanoe’ iereo soike o nte-Amore tama’eo.
And a son of Machir the son of Manasse went to Galaad, and took it, and destroyed the Amorite who lived in it.
40 Aa le natolo’ i Mosè amy Makire ana’ i Menasè ty Gilade le nimoneña’e.
And Moses gave Galaad to Machir the son of Manasse, and he lived there.
41 Rinambe’ Iaìre ka o tanà’eo vaho nitokave’e Kavòte Iaìre.
And Jair the [son] of Manasse went and took their villages, and called them the villages of Jair.
42 Nomb’eo ka t’i Nòbake nitavañe i Kenàte naho o tanà’eo, le nitokave’e ty hoe Nobake, i tahina’ey avao.
And Nabau went and took Caath and her villages, and called them Naboth after his name.
