And it comes to pass, after the plague, that YHWH speaks to Moses and to Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saying,
2 Volilio o valobohò’ Israeleo, ze roapolo taoñe mañambone, amo anjomban-droae’ iareoo, ze hene mahafiatrek’ aly e Israele ao.
“Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, from a son of twenty years and upward, by the house of their fathers, everyone going out to the host in Israel.”
3 Aa le nisaontsy am’ iereo t’i Mosè naho i Elazare a montom-bei’ i Moabe marine’ Iardeney tandrife Ierikò, ami’ ty hoe:
And Moses speaks—Eleazar the priest also—with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,

“From a son of twenty years and upward,” as YHWH has commanded Moses and the sons of Israel who are coming out from the land of Egypt.
5 I Reòbene ty tañoloñoloña’ Israele. O tarira’ i Reòbeneo: boak’ amy Hanoke, o nte-Hanokeo; boak’ amy Palò o nte-Palòo,
Reuben, firstborn of Israel—sons of Reuben: of Enoch [is] the family of the Enochite; of Pallu the family of the Palluite;
6 boak’ amy Ketsrone o nte-Ketsroneo, boak’ amy Karmý o nte-Karmio.
of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Carmi the family of the Carmite.
7 Zao o hasavereña’ o nte-Reòbeneoo: ze niaheñe ama’e ni-efats’ ale-tsi-telo-arivo-tsi-fiton-jato-tsi-telopolo.
These [are] families of the Reubenite, and their numbered ones are forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
8 Le o tarira’ i Palòo: i Eliabe,
And the son of Pallu [is] Eliab;
9 o ana’i Eliabeo: i Nemoele, i Datane, i Abirame nisolom-bata’ i valobohòkeiy nirekets’ amy Korahke, ie niola amy Mosè naho i Aharone vaho niola am’ Iehovày,
and the sons of Eliab [are] Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram; this [is that] Dathan and Abiram, called ones of the congregation, who have striven against Moses and against Aaron in the congregation of Korah, in their striving against YHWH,
10 ie nanokafa’ i taney vava, nampigedrañ’e i Korahke naho nañomake i màroy, vaho namorototo indaty roanjato-tsi-limampolo rey añ’afo, hanjaria’ iareo hatahata.
and the earth opens her mouth, and swallows them and Korah, in the death of the congregation, in the fire consuming the two hundred and fifty men, and they become a sign;

but the sons of Korah did not die.
12 O tarira’ i Simone amo hasavereña’eoo boak’amy Nemoele o nte-Nemoeleo, boak’ am’ Iamine o nte-Iamineo, boak’ am’ Iakine o nte-Iakineo,
Sons of Simeon by their families: of Nemuel [is] the family of the Nemuelite; of Jamin the family of the Jaminite; of Jachin the family of the Jachinite;
13 boak’amy Zerake o nte-Zerakeo, boak’ amy Saòle o nte-Saòleo;
of Zerah the family of the Zerahite; of Shaul the family of the Shaulite.

These [are] families of the Simeonite—twenty-two thousand and two hundred.
15 O tarira’ i Gade amo hasavereña’eoo: boak’ amy Tsefone o nte-Tsefoneo, boak’ amy Kagý o nte-Kagio; boak’ amy Soný o nte-Sonìo;
Sons of Gad by their families: of Zephon [is] the family of the Zephonite; of Haggi the family of the Haggite; of Shuni the family of the Shunite;
16 boak’ amy Ozný o nte-Oznio, boak’ amy Airý o nte-Airio;
of Ozni the family of the Oznite; of Eri the family of the Erite:
17 boak’ amy Arode o nte-Arodeo, boak’ amy Arelý o nte-Arelio;
of Arod the family of the Arodite; of Areli the family of the Arelite.
18 zao o hasavereña’ i Gadeo, amo niaheñe ama’eo, efats’ale-tsi-liman-jato.
These [are] families of the sons of Gad by their numbered ones—forty thousand and five hundred.
19 Ty ana’ Iehodà, i Ere naho i Onane; fe nihomak’ an-tane Kanàne añe t’i Ere naho i Onane,
Sons of Judah [are] Er and Onan; and Er dies—Onan also—in the land of Canaan.
20 le o tarira’ Iehodà an-kasavereña’eo: boak’amy Selà o nte-Selao; boak’ amy Peretse o nte-Peretseo; boak’ amy Zèrake o nte-Zèrakeo.
And sons of Judah by their families are: of Shelah the family of the Shelanite; of Perez the family of the Perezite; of Zerah the family of the Zerahite;

and sons of Perez are: of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Hamul the family of the Hamulite.
22 Zao o hasavereña’ Iehodà amo niaheñeoo: fito-ale-tsi-eneñ’arivo-tsi-liman-jato.
These [are] families of Judah by their numbered ones—seventy-six thousand and five hundred.
23 O tarira’ Isakhare amo hasavereña’eoo: boak’ amy Tolà o nte-Tolào; boak’ amy Poà o nte-Poao;
Sons of Issachar by their families: of Tola [is] the family of the Tolaite; of Pua the family of the Punite;
24 boak’am’ Iasòbe o nte-Iasobeo; boak’ amy Simrone o nte-Simroneo;
of Jashub the family of the Jashubite; of Shimron the family of the Shimronite.
25 zao o hasavereña’ Isakhare amo niaheñeoo: eneñ’ale-tsi-efats’ arivo-tsi-telonjato.
These [are] families of Issachar by their numbered ones—sixty-four thousand and three hundred.
26 O tarira’ i Zebolone amo hasavereña’eoo: boak’ amy Serede o nte-Seredeo; boak’amy Elone o nte-Eloneo; boak’am’ Iakleèle o nte-Iakleeleo;
Sons of Zebulun by their families: of Sered [is] the family of the Sardite; of Elon the family of the Elonite; of Jahleel the family of the Jahleelite.
27 zao o hasavereña’ i Zeboloneo amo niaheñeo: eneñ’ ale-tsi-liman-jato.
These [are] families of the Zebulunite by their numbered ones—sixty thousand and five hundred.
28 Ty ana’ Iosèfe amo tarira’ i Menasè naho i Efraimeo: O tarira’ i Menasè amo hasavereña’eoo:
Sons of Joseph by their families [are] Manasseh and Ephraim.
29 boak’amy Makìre o nte-Makireo, le nasama’ i Makìre t’i Gilàde, o hasavereña’ Gilàdeo;
Sons of Manasseh: of Machir [is] the family of the Machirite; and Machir has begotten Gilead; of Gilead [is] the family of the Gileadite.
30 zao ro ana’ i Gilade: boak’ am’ Ièzere o nte-Iezereo; boak’ amy Kàileke o nte-Kailekeo;
These [are] sons of Gilead: of Jeezer [is] the family of the Jeezerite; of Helek the family of the Helekite;
31 boak’ amy Asrièle o nte-Asrieleo; boak’ amy Sèkeme o nte-Sèkemeo; boak’
and of Asriel the family of the Asrielite; and of Shechem the family of the Shechemite;
32 amy Semidà o nte-Semidao; boak’ amy Kàifere o nte-Kaifereo;
and of Shemida the family of the Shemidaite; and of Hepher the family of the Hepherite.
33 tsy nanañ’ anadahy t’i Tselofekhàde ana’ i Kàifere; ty añara’ o anak’ ampela’eo le Maklà, i Noà, i Koglà, i Milkà, vaho i Tirtsà.
And Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, but [only] daughters, and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad [are] Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
34 O niaheñe amo hasavereña’ i Menasèo: lime-ale-tsi-ro’arivo-tsi-fitonjato.
These [are] families of Manasseh, and their numbered ones [are] fifty-two thousand and seven hundred.
35 O tarira’ i Efraime amo hasavereña’eoo: boak’ amy Sotèlake o nte-Sotèlakeo; boak’ amy Bèkere o nte-Bekereo; boak’ amy Tàkane o nte-Takaneo;
These [are] sons of Ephraim by their families: of Shuthelah [is] the family of the Shuthelhite; of Becher the family of the Bachrite; of Tahan the family of the Tahanite.
36 le amo ana’ i Sotèlakeo: boak’ amy Eràne o nte-Eraneo.
And these [are] sons of Shuthelah: of Eran the family of the Eranite.
37 Aa o niaheñe amo hasavereña’ i Efraimeoo: telo-ale-tsi-ro’ arivo-tsi-liman-jato. Izay o tarira’ Iosèfe amo hasavereña’eoo.
These [are] families of the sons of Ephraim by their numbered ones—thirty-two thousand and five hundred. These [are] sons of Joseph by their families.
38 O tarira’ i Beniamène amo hasavereña’eoo: boak’ amy Bèla o nte-Belao; boak’ amy Asbèle o nte-Asbeleo; boak’ amy Akiràme o nte-Akirameo;
Sons of Benjamin by their families: of Bela [is] the family of the Belaite; of Ashbel the family of the Ashbelite; of Ahiram the family of the Ahiramite;
39 boak’ amy Sefofàme o nte-Sefofameo; boak’ amy Kofàme o nte-Kofameo.
of Shupham the family of the Shuphamite; of Hupham the family of the Huphamite.
40 O ana’ i Belao: i Arde naho i Naamàne: boak’ amy Arde o nte-Ardeo; boak’ amy Naamane o nte-Naamaneo.
And sons of Bela are Ard and Naaman: [of Ard is] the family of the Ardite; of Naaman the family of the Naamite.
41 Aa o niaheñe amo hasavereña’ i Beniamèneoo: efats’ ale-tsi-lime-arivo-tsi-enenjato.
These [are] sons of Benjamin by their families, and their numbered ones [are] forty-five thousand and six hundred.
42 O tarira’ i Dane amo hasavereña’eoo: boak’ amy Sokàme o nte-Sokameo; Zao o tarira’ i Dane amo hasavereña’eoo;
These [are] sons of Dan by their families: of Shuham [is] the family of the Shuhamite; these [are] families of Dan by their families;
43 le ty ia’ o nte-Sokàmeo amo niaheñeo: eneñ’ ale-tsi-efats’ arivo-tsi-efa-jato.
all the families of the Shuhamite by their numbered ones—sixty-four thousand and four hundred.
44 O tarira’ i Asere amo hasavereña’eoo: boak’ am’ Imnà o nte-Imnao; boak’am’ Isvý o nte-Isvìo; boak’ amy Berìa o nte-Beriao.
Sons of Asher by their families: of Jimna [is] the family of the Jimnite; of Jesui the family of the Jesuite; of Beriah the family of the Beriite.
45 Aa naho o ana’ i Beriao: boak’ amy Kèbere o nte-Kèbereo; boak’ amy Malkièle o nte-Malkieleo;
Of sons of Beriah: of Heber [is] the family of the Heberite; of Malchiel the family of the Malchielite.
46 le Sèrake ty tahina’ ty anak’ ampela’ i Asere.
And the name of the daughter of Asher [is] Sarah.
47 Zao o tarira’i Asere amo hasavereña’e niaheñeoo lime-ale-tsi-telo-arivo-tsi-efa-jato.
These [are] families of the sons of Asher by their numbered ones—fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
48 O tarira’i Naftalý an-kasavereña’eo: boak’ am’ Iaktseèle o nte-Iaktseèleo; boak’ amy Goný o nte-Gonio;
Sons of Naphtali by their families: of Jahzeel [is] the family of the Jahzeelite; of Guni the family of the Gunite;
49 boak’ am’ Iètsere o nte-Iètsereo; boak’ amy Silème o nte-Silemeo;
of Jezer the family of the Jezerite; of Shillem the family of the Shillemite.
50 Zao o tarira’ i Asere amo hasavereña’e niaheñeo: efats’ ale-tsi-lime-arivo-tsy efa-jato.
These [are] families of Naphtali by their families, and their numbered ones [are] forty-five thousand and four hundred.
51 Aa le ty ia’ o ana’ Israele niaheñeo: enen-ketse-tsi-arivo-tsi-fitonjato-tsi-telopolo.
These [are] numbered ones of the sons of Israel—six hundred thousand and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.
52 Le hoe ty nitsara’ Iehovà amy Mosè:
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
53 Amo retiañe ty anjaràñe i taney ho lova ty ami’ty ia’ o tahinañeo.
“The land is apportioned to these by inheritance, by the number of names;
54 Ho tolora’o lova bey ty maro le hanjarà’o lova kede ty tsy ampeampe; songa hanoloran-dova ami’ty hamaro’ o vinolily ama’eo.
to the many you increase their inheritance, and to the few you diminish their inheritance; each is given his inheritance according to his numbered ones.
55 Le an-tsapake ty hanjarañe i taney; ami’ty tahinan-droae’ o fifokoañeo ty handovà’ iareo aze.
Surely the land is apportioned by lot; they inherit by the names of the tribes of their fathers;
56 Tsato-piso ty hanjarañe i lovay añivo’ ty maro naho ty tsy ampeampe.
their inheritance is apportioned according to the lot between many and few.”
57 Le zao ty famoliliañe o nte-Levio amo amori’eo: boak’ amy Geresòne o nte-Geresoneo, boak’ amy Kehàte o nte-Kehàteo; boak’amy Merarý o nte-Merario;
And these [are] numbered ones of the Levite by their families: of Gershon [is] the family of the Gershonite; of Kohath the family of the Kohathite; of Merari the family of the Merarite.
58 le zao ty hasavereña’ o nte-Levio: ty hasavereña’ o nte-Libnìo, ty hasavereña’ o nte-Kebronio, ty hasavereña’ o nte-Maklìo; ty hasavereña’ o nte-Mosìo; vaho ty hasavereña’ o nte-Korahkìo. Le nisamake i Amrame t’i Kehate;
These [are] families of the Levite: the family of the Libnite, the family of the Hebronite, the family of the Mahlite, the family of the Mushite, the family of the Korathite. And Kohath has begotten Amram,
59 Iokèbede ana’ i Levy ty tahina’ ty vali’ i Amrame, nasama’ i Amrame t’i Aharone naho i Mosè vaho i Miriame rahavave’ iareo.
and the name of Amram’s wife is Jochebed, daughter of Levi, whom has been born to Levi in Egypt; and she bears to Amram Aaron, and Moses, and their sister Miriam.
60 Nasama’ i Aharone t’i Nadàbe naho i Abihò naho i Elazare vaho Itamare;
And born to Aaron [are] Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar;
61 sambe nihomake t’i Nadabe naho i Abiho, ie nañenga afo tsie am’ Iehovà.
and Nadab dies—Abihu also—in their bringing strange fire near before YHWH.
62 Ty ia’ o niaheñe am’ iereoo: ro’ale-tsi-telo-arivo, songa lahilahy vola’e raike mañambone; ie tsy niaheñe amo ana’ Israeleo, amy te tsy nanoloran-dova amo ana’Israeleo.
And their numbered ones are twenty-three thousand, every male from a son of a month and upwards, for they have not numbered themselves in the midst of the sons of Israel, because an inheritance has not been given to them in the midst of the sons of Israel.
63 Irezay ty namolilia’ i Mosè naho i Elazare mpisoroñe, ie namolily o ana’ Israeleo an-tanemira’ i Moabe añ’olo’ Iardeney tandrife’ Ierikò eo.
These [are] those numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who have numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho;
64 Le amo vinolilio, leo raike tsy niahe’ i Mosè naho i Aharone mpisoroñe tamy famoliliañe o ana’ Israeleo am-patrambey Sinaiy.
and among these there has not been a man of those numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai,
65 Amy tsinara’ Iehovà am’ iareo ty hoe: Toe hivetrak’ am-patrambey ao iereo, aa le tsy nengàn-dahilahy naho tsy i Kalebe ana’ Iefone naho Iehosoa ana’ i None avao.
for YHWH said of them, “They certainly die in the wilderness”; and there has not been left a man of them, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
