< Nomery 14 >
1 Aa le nañonjom-peo am-pangolalaihañe i valobohòkey, naho nangololoike ty rovetse amy haleñey ondatio,
And all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried; and the people wept all that night.
2 vaho nitoreo amy Mosè naho amy Aharone o ana’ Israele iabio; le nanoe’ i valobohòkey ty hoe, Ee t’ie nivetrak’ an-tane Mitsraime ao! Ndra kitra’e nikoromak’ am-patrambey atoa!
And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron; and all the congregation said to them,
3 Ino ty nandesa’ Iehovà mb’an-tane atoy ho tsingoritrìem-pibara reke-keleiañe ho tsindroke; tsy hàmake t’ie himpoly mb’e Mitsraime mb’eo?
Would we had died in the land of Egypt! or in this wilderness, would we had died! and why does the Lord bring us into this land to fall in war? our wives and our children shall be for a prey: now then it is better to return into Egypt.
4 Aa le hoe ty fivesoveso’ iareo, Antao hijoboñe mpiaolo vaho himpoly mb’e Mitsraime añe.
And they said one to another, Let us make a ruler, and return into Egypt.
5 Nibabok’ an-daharañe añatrefa’ i fivorim-balobohò’ o ana’ Israeleoy amy zao t’i Mosè naho i Aharone.
And Moses and Aaron fell upon their face before all the congregation of the children of Israel.
6 le nandriatse sarimbo t’Iehosoa ana’ i None naho i Kalebe ana’ Iefonè, i nimpiamo nitingañe i taneio rey;
But Joshua the [son] of Naue, and Chaleb the [son] of Jephonne, of [the number of] them that spied out the land, tore their garments,
7 le hoe ty enta’ iareo amy valobohò’ Israeley, I tane nirangà’ay mpitingañeo le tane loho fanjaka.
and spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, The land which we surveyed is indeed extremely good.
8 Aa naho noro’ Iehovà tika, le ie ty hanese naho hanolotse antika i taney, toe tane orikorihen-dronono naho tantele.
If the Lord choose us, he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which flows with milk and honey.
9 Aa ko miola am’ Iehovà, ko mirevendreveñe am’ondati’ i taneio, ie fitsindrohan-tika; toe nisitak’ am’ iereo ty fañarova’e vaho amantika t’Iehovà. Ko ihembañañe.
Only depart not from the Lord; and fear you not the people of the land, for they are meat for us; for the season [of prosperity] is departed from them, but the Lord [is] amongst us: fear them not.
10 Fe vinola’ i fivoribey iabiy t’ie haretsam-bato, vaho niboak’ amo ana’ Israele iabio, an-kibohom-pamantañañe ey, ty enge’ Iehovà.
And all the congregation bade stone them with stones; and the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud on the tabernacle of witness to all the children of Israel.
11 Le hoe t’Iehovà amy Mosè, Pak’ ombia ty mbe hañinjea’ ondaty retiañe ahy? Ampara’ ombia t’ie mbe tsy hahafiato amako ty amo hene viloñe nanoeko añivo’ iereoo.
And the Lord said to Moses, How long does this people provoke me? and how long do they refuse to believe me for all the signs which I have wrought amongst them?
12 Ho paoheko angorosy naho harotsako, vaho ihe ty hanoeko foko ra’elahy mandikoatse naho maozatse te ama’e.
I will strike them with death, and destroy them; and I will make of you and of your father's house a great nation, and much greater than this.
13 Aa hoe t’i Mosè am’ Iehovà, Le ho tsanòñe’ o nte-Mitsraimeo, te i haozara’oy ty nañavota’o ondaty retiañe boak’ añivo’ iareo ao,
And Moses said to the Lord, So Egypt shall hear, for you have brought up this people from them by your might.
14 le hatao’ iareo amo mpimone’ ty tane toio, te tsinano’ iereo te ihe ry Iehovà ro añivo’ ondaty retoañe, amy te Ihe ry Iehovà ro ifañatrefan-daharañe naho mitroatse ambone’ iereo i raho’oy, vaho ihe ro Fiaolo’ iareo amy rahoñe mijoalay te handro naho añ’afo mitiotiotse te haleñe.
Moreover all the dwellers upon this land have heard that you are Lord in the midst of this people, who, O Lord, are seen [by them] face to face, and your cloud rests upon them, and you go before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire.
15 Aa naho zamane’o hoe ondaty raike ondaty retiañe, le hanao ty hoe o tane iaby nahajanjiñe ty hara’elahi’oo,
And [if] you shall destroy this nation as one man; then all the nations that have heard your name shall speak, saying,
16 Kanao tsy nahafanese ondaty retiañe mb’an-tane nitolora’e am-panta mb’eo t’Iehovà, le nimongore’e an-dratraratra añe.
Because the Lord could not bring this people into the land which he sware to them, he has overthrown them in the wilderness.
17 Aa le ihalaliako, ehe ho ra’elahy ty haozara’ i Talè amy nitsarae’o ty hoe,
And now, O Lord, let your strength be exalted, as you spoke, saying,
18 Malaon-kaviñerañe t’Iehovà naho lifo-pikokoa-migahiñe, mpampipoke hila naho fiòla, fe tsy apo’e ty manao hakeo, fa afetsa’e amo anakeo o tahin-droae’eo ami’ty tariratse faha-telo naho fahefatse.
The Lord [is] longsuffering and merciful, and true, removing transgressions and iniquities and sins, and he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation.
19 Miambane ama’o, apoho ty hakeo’ ondaty retiañe amy hara’ elahin-kafatraram-pikokoa’oy, manahake ty nampidòna’o ty hakeo’ ondaty retiañe e Mitsraime añe pake henane.
Forgive this people their sin according to your great mercy, as you were favourable to them from Egypt until now.
20 Aa le hoe t’Iehovà, Fa napoko ty amy enta’oy;
And the Lord said to Moses, I am gracious to them according to your word.
21 fe kanao velon-dRaho, ho lifore’ ty enge’ Iehovà ty tane toy,
But [as] I live and my name is living, so the glory of the Lord shall fill all the earth.
22 le ze hene ondaty nahaisake o engekoo naho o viloñe nanoeko e Mitsraime naho am-patram-beio, ie fa nitso-pañahy ahiko fañimpolo’e henaneo, vaho tsy nañaoñe ty feoko,
For all the men who see my glory, and the signs which I wrought in Egypt, and in the wilderness, and have tempted me this tenth time, and have not listened to my voice,
23 toe tsy ho isa’ iareo i tane nifantàko aman-droae’ iareoy, toe tsy ho isa’ o nañinje Ahio,
surely they shall not see the land, which I sware to their fathers; but their children which are with me here, as many as know not good or evil, every inexperienced youth, to them will I give the land; but none who have provoked me shall see it.
24 naho tsy i Kalebe mpitorokoy amy te hafa ty arofo ama’e le niventè’e t’ie mpañorik’ ahiko, aa le hendeseko mb’ an-tane nañaveloa’e mb’eo vaho ho lovae’ o tarira’eo.
But my servant Chaleb, because there was another spirit in him, and he followed me, I will bring him into the land into which he entered, and his seed shall inherit it.
25 Aa kanao mimoneñe am-bavatane ao o nte-Amalekeo naho o nte-Kanàneo, le mivioña nahareo te hamaray, vaho mionjona mb’ am-patrambey mb’amy lalañe migodañe mb’an-dRia-Binda mb’eoy.
But Amalec and the Chananite dwell in the valley: to-morrow turn and depart for the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.
26 Le hoe ty nitsara’ Iehovà amy Mosè naho amy Aharone:
And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
27 Pak’ombia ty hivaveako ty valobohòke lo-tsereke mañinje ahiko tia? Fa tsinanoko ty fiñeoñeo’ o ana’ Israeleo, ty fañinjea’ iareo ahiko.
How long [shall I endure] this wicked congregation? I have heard their murmurings against me, [even] the murmuring of the children of Israel, which they have murmured concerning you.
28 Saontsio am’ iereo, Kanao velon-dRaho, hoe t’Iehovà, le hanoeko ama’ areo i sinaontsi’ areo an-tsofikoy;
Say to them, [As] I live, says the Lord: surely as you spoke into my ears, so will I do to you.
29 toe hipopok’ am-patram-bey atoa ty lolo’ areo, ze fonga nivolilieñe ama’ areo, ze hene niaheñe ama’ areo mifototse ami’ty roapolo taoñe mañambone amo nañinje Ahikoo.
Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all those of you that were reviewed, and those of you that were numbered from twenty years old and upward, all that murmured against me,
30 Leo raike tsy himoak’ amy tane natoloko anahareo am-panta himoneña’ areoy, naho tsy i Kalebe ana’ Iefonè naho Iehosoa ana’ i None,
you shall not enter into the land for which I stretched out my hand to establish you upon it; except only Chaleb the son of Jephonne, and Joshua the [son] of Naue.
31 le o amori’ areo kedekedeke natao’ areo ho tsindroheñeo; hendeseko ao iereo le ho fohi’ iareo i tane niheje’ areoy.
And your little ones, who you said should be a prey, them will I bring into the land; and they shall inherit the land, which you rejected.
32 Inahareo ka, hifitak’ am-patrambey ao ty lolo’ areo,
And your carcases shall fall in this wilderness.
33 le hirererere am-patrambey ao efapolo taoñe o ana’ areoo, hivave ty hakarapiloa’ areo, ampara’ te vorok’ am-patrambey ao ty lolo’ areo.
And your sons shall be fed in the wilderness forty years, and they shall bear your fornication, until your carcases be consumed in the wilderness.
34 Mira ami’ty ia’ o andro nitingane’ areo i taneio, i efa-polo andro rezay, te songa havale taoñe raike i andro rey, ho vave’ areo ty tahi’ areo, aa le efa-polo taoñe ty hahafohina’ areo ty habosehako.
According to the number of the days during which you spied the land, forty days, a day for a year, you shall bear your sins forty years, and you shall know my fierce anger.
35 Izaho Iehovà ty nitaroñe. Tsy mete tsy henefeko ami’ty valobohòke lo-tsereke nihipoke hiatreatre amako tia, ie habotse’ ty fatram-bey toy naho toe hihomak’ ao.
I the Lord have spoken, Surely will I do thus to this evil congregation that has risen up together against me: in this wilderness they shall be utterly consumed, and there they shall die.
36 Le ondaty nirahe’ i Mosè hitingañe i taneio, o nimpoly ninday saontsy nampitoreo i valobohòkey amy talily raty nendese’ iereo i taneiio,
And the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, and who came and murmured against it to the assembly so as to bring out evil words concerning the land, —
37 le navetra’ ty angorosy añatrefa’ Iehovà ondaty ninday i talily raty ty amy taneio.
the men that spoke evil reports against the land, even died of the plague before the Lord.
38 Iehosoa ana’ i None naho i Kalebe ana’ Iefonè avao ty mbe niveloñe amo nitingañe i taneio.
And Joshua the son of Naue and Chaleb the son of Jephonne [still] lived of those men that went to spy out the land.
39 Aa le akore ty fihonto’ o ana’ Israeleo amy nitaroña’ i Mosè i entañe zaiy,
And Moses spoke these words to all the children of Israel; and the people mourned exceedingly.
40 kanao nivañoñe marain-tsikiake iereo niañambone’ i vohitsey, ami’ty hoe: Itoan-jahay, hanganike i nampitama’ Iehovà anaiy, fa nanao hakeo zahay.
And they rose early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, Behold, we that are here will go up to the place of which the Lord has spoken, because we have sinned.
41 Hoe ka t’i Mosè, Aa vaho akore te lilare’ areo ty lili’ Iehovà henaneo? Toe tsy ho tafetetse.
And Moses said, Why do you transgress the word of the Lord? you shall not prosper.
42 Ko mionjoñe mb’eo tsy mone ho rotsaheñe añatrefan-drafelahi’ areo fa tsy mindre ama’ areo t’Iehovà.
Go not up, for the Lord is not with you; so shall you fall before the face of your enemies.
43 Aolo’ areo o nte-Amalekeo naho o nte-Kanàneo, le hampitsingoroem-pibara nahareo; amy te niambohoa’ areo t’Iehovà, vaho tsy hindreza’ Iehovà lia.
For Amalec and the Chananite [are] there before you, and you shall fall by the sword; because you have disobeyed the Lord and turned aside, and the Lord will not be amongst you.
44 F’ie nionjoñe tsinahy mb’an-tiotio’ i vohitsey mb’eo; fe tsy niakatse i tobey ka i vatam-pañina’ Iehovày ndra i Mosè.
And having forced their passage, they went up to the top of the mountain; but the ark of the covenant of the Lord and Moses stirred not out of the camp.
45 Aa le nizotso hiatreatre am’iareo o nte-Amalekeo naho o nte-Kanàne mpimoneñe amy vohitseio, nandafa naho nandronje iareo sikala e Khormà añe.
And Amalec and the Chananite that lived in that mountain came down, and routed them, and destroyed them to Herman; and they returned to the camp.
