Matio 26

When Jesus had ended all these discourses, He said to His disciples,
2 Fohi’ areo naho modo ty roe andro le ho tondroke i Fihelañey vaho hasese am-pità’ o Jiosio mb’ an-katae mb’eo i Ana’ ondatiy.
"You know that in two days' time the Passover comes. And the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified."
3 Ie amy zao nifanontoñe an-kiririsan’ anjomba’ i talèm-pisoroñey o mpisorom-beio, naho o Androanavi’ ondatio, Kaiafa ty tahina’ i talè henane zay,
Then the High Priests and Elders of the People assembled in the court of the palace of the High Priest Caiaphas,
4 nikinia hitsepake Iesoà am-pamañahiañe vaho hañohofan-doza.
and consulted how to get Jesus into their power by stratagem and put Him to death.
5 Fe hoe iareo: Tsy hanoeñe amy sabadidakey, hera hidabahorake ondatio.
But they said, "Not during the Festival, lest there be a riot among the people."
6 Ie e Kefare-hananià, añ’anjomba’ i Simona angamae ao t’i Iesoà,
Now when Jesus was come to Bethany and was at the house of Simon the Leper,
7 le nisitsitse mb’ ama’e ty rakemba ninday menake saro-bily am-pitavoña vaho nadoa’e añambone’e eo t’ie nidegañe am-pandambañañe eo.
a woman came to Him with a jar of very costly, sweet-scented ointment, which she poured over His head as He reclined at table.
8 Fe nitorifiha’ o ila’eo
"Why such waste?" indignantly exclaimed the disciples;
9 fa inao mete ho naletake ami’ty vili’e ambone i solikey naho nanolorañe o rarakeo.
"for this might have been sold for a considerable sum, and the money given to the poor."
10 Iesoà, ie maharofoanañe ze he’e mioza aman’ inoñ’ inoñe, nanao ty hoe: Maneseke ty rakemba tia hao nahareo? Ie nanao raha fanjàka naho nañasoa ahy!
But Jesus heard it, and said to them, "Why are you vexing her? For she has done a most gracious act towards me.
11 Ama’ areo lomoñandro o rarakeo, fe tsy ho ama’ areo nainai’e iraho.
The poor you always have with you, but me you have not always.
12 I fandeveñañe ahiy ty nañiliña’e solike amo sandrikoo.
In pouring this ointment over me, her object was to prepare me for burial.
13 Eka! to t’itaroñako te, ndra aia aia ami’ty voatse toy ty itaroñañe ty talili-soa toy, le hitaliliañe i nanoe’ey ho fitiahiañe ahiy.
In solemn truth I tell you that wherever in the whole world this Good News shall be proclaimed, this deed of hers shall be spoken of in memory of her."
14 Le nimb’amo mpisorom-beio mb’eo ty raike amy folo-ro’ amby rey, i atao Jodasy nte-Keriote,
At that time one of the Twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the High Priests
15 le hoe re: Inoñe ty hanambeza’ areo ahy te aseseko ama’ areo t’i Iesoà. Aa le nilahare’ iareo ty drala volafoty telo-polo.
and said, "What are you willing to give me if I betray him to you?" So they weighed out to him thirty shekels,
16 Nifototse amy zay, t’ie nipay ty hanesehañe aze.
and from that moment he was on the look out for an opportunity to betray Him.
17 Ie tañ’andro valoha’ ty fañambenañe i Sabadidake Mofo-tsy-aman-Dalivaiy, le niheo mb’amy Iesoà mb’eo o mpiama’eo nanao ty hoe: Aia ty hañalankaña’ay ho azo ty hikamañe i Fihelañey?
On the first day of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus with the question, "Where shall we make preparations for you to eat the Passover?"
18 le nanoa’e ty hoe: Akia, mb’an-drova ao mb’ami’ty indaty hanolo-batañe, le anò ty hoe: Hoe t’i Talè: An-titotse ty fotoako, le ama’o ao ty hañambenako i Fihelañey mindre amo mpiamakoo.
"Go into the city," He replied, "to a certain man, and tell him, 'The Teacher says, My time is close at hand. It is at your house that I shall keep the Passover with my disciples.'"
19 Aa le nanoe’o mpiama’eo, vaho hinalanka’ iereo i Fihelañey.
The disciples did as Jesus directed them, and got the Passover ready.
20 Naho hariva, nidegañe am-pandambañañe eo re mindre amy mpiama’e folo ro’amby rey.
When evening came, He was at table with the twelve disciples,
21 Ie nikama, le nanoa’e ty hoe: Taroñeko ama’ areo te, hifotetse ahy ty raike ama’ areo.
and the meal was proceeding, when Jesus said, "In solemn truth I tell you that one of you will betray me."
22 Niriroke iereo, sindre nanao ty hoe ama’e: O Talè, izaho hao?
Intensely grieved they began one after another to ask Him, "Can it be I, Master?"
23 Le hoe ty natoi’e: I mindre mampijon-tañañ’ amako am-ping’aoy ty handetak’ ahiko.
"The one who has dipped his fingers in the bowl with me," He answered, "is the man who will betray me.
24 Hoe t’i Iesoà tam’ iereo: Toe hionjoñe mb’ amy pinatetse ty ama’ey i Ana’ ondatiy, fe hekoheko ami’ty indaty te ie ty nifoterañe i Ana’ ondatiy! Nisoa ho a’ indatiy te tsy naterake.
The Son of Man is indeed going as is written concerning Him; but alas for that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It had been a happy thing for that man if he had never been born."
25 Hoe ty natoi’ i Jodasy nandentak’ azey: O Raby, izaho hao? Hoe re: Saontsi’o izay.
Then Judas, the disciple who was betraying Him, asked, "Can it be I, Rabbi?" "It is you," He replied.
26 Ie nikama, nandrambe mofo t’i Iesoà, le nañandriañe, naho finola’e vaho nazotso’e amo mpiama’eo ami’ty hoe: Intoy, ikamao, sandriko toy.
During the meal Jesus took a Passover biscuit, blessed it and broke it. He then gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take this and eat it: it is my body."
27 Rinambe’e i fitoviy, nandrenge an-dRae’e, le nazotso’e am’iereo vaho nanao ty hoe: Ikamao, inahareo iaby.
And He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, "Drink from it, all of you;
28 Lioko ami’ty fañina vao toy, ty hadoañe ho ami’ty maro ho fañeferan-kakeo.
for this is my blood which is to be poured out for many for the remission of sins--the blood which ratifies the Covenant.
29 Taroñeko ama’ areo te, tsy hinomako ka ty voka’ i vahey ampara’ ty andro hinomako aze vao mindre ama’areo am-pifehean-dikerañ’ ao.
I tell you that I will never again take the produce of the vine till that day when I shall drink the new wine with you in my Father's Kingdom."
30 Niavotse iereo, nimb’ am-bohi-Oliva mb’eo.
So they sang the hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Le hoe t’i Iesoà tamo mpiama’eo: Hene hanahelo ty amako nahareo te anito-hale, fa pinatetse te, Ho lafaeko ty mpiarake le hiparaitake o añondrio.
Then said Jesus, "This night all of you will stumble and fail in your fidelity to me; for it is written, 'I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered in all directions.'
32 Naho fa nitroatse amy havilasiy iraho, le hiaolo anahareo mb’e Galilia añe.
But after I have risen to life again I will go before you into Galilee."
33 Tinoi’ i Petera ty hoe: Ndra t’ie sindre hioje ty ama’o, izaho tsy ho lendeñe.
"All may stumble and fail," said Peter, "but I never will."
34 Hoe t’i Iesoà: Eka! to t’itaroñako, Aolo’ ty kekeo akoholahy an-kaleñe itoy, le ihe ty hitety ahy in-telo.
"In solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that this very night, before the cock crows, you will three times disown me."
35 Hoe t’i Petera ama’e: Naho alahatse t’ie hindre havetrake ama’o, izaho tsy hitety azo. Nanoe’ o mpiama’e iabio ka izay.
"Even if I must die with you," declared Peter, "I will never disown you." In like manner protested all the disciples.
36 Le nindre am’iereo mb’an-toetse atao Getsemane ao t’i Iesoà vaho nanao ty hoe amy mpiama’e rey: Miambesara etoa hey, fa homb’ey hoek’ ey iraho hihalaly.
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane. And He said to the disciples, "Sit down here, whilst I go yonder and there pray."
37 Nendese’e t’i Petera naho i ana’ i Zebedio roe rey, naho namototse ho monjetse vaho embetse.
And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zabdi. Then He began to be full of anguish and distress,
38 Le hoe re tam’ iereo, Manahelo, te hikenkañe ty fiaiko. Ikalaño naho mitraofa fijilovañe amako.
and He said to them, "My soul is crushed with anguish to the very point of death; wait here, and keep awake with me."
39 Nivike mora mb’eo re, niankotrake an-daharañe, le nihalaly ty hoe: Ry Raeko, naho mete; apitsoho amako ty fitovy toy; fe tsy ty lahako, fa o satri’oo.
Going forward a short distance He fell on His face and prayed. "My Father," He said, "if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou willest."
40 Nimb’amy mpiama’e rey mb’eo re, le zoe’e nirotse, vaho nanao ty hoe amy Petera: Hete! tsy nete niharo fijilo amako ora raike hao nahareo?
Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Alas, none of you could keep awake with me for even a single hour!
41 Mijilova naho mihalalia, hera hifoake am-panjiziañ’ ao; toe manatry ty troke, fe mavozo ty sandriñe.
Keep awake, and pray that you may not enter into temptation: the spirit is right willing, but the body is frail."
42 Nimb’eo indraike re nihalaly ty hoe: Naho tsy mahaloly ty fitovy toy amako, naho tsy nòmeko, le hanoeñe abey o satri’oo.
Again a second time He went away and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is impossible for this cup to pass without my drinking it, Thy will be done."
43 Tampetse izay, nibalike re le zoe’e mirotse iereo fa nigibeñe o fihaino’ iareoo.
He came and again found them asleep, for they were very tired.
44 Nenga’e indraike le nimb’eo nihalaly i tsaray fañintelo’e;
So He left them, and went away once more and prayed a third time, again using the same words.
45 vaho niheo mb’amo mpiama’eo, nanao ty hoe: Mirota henaneo, mitofà; Inge fa antitotse i nifotoañañey te haseseke an-tañam-panan-kakeo i Ana’ ondatiy.
Then He came to the disciples and said, "Sleep on and rest. See, the moment is close at hand when the Son of Man is to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men.
46 Mitroara, antao, heheke fa etoañ’ i hifotetse ahiy.
Rouse yourselves. Let us be going. My betrayer is close at hand."
47 Ie mbe nisaontsy, le niloneake eo t’i Jodasy, mpiamy folo ro’amby rey, reketse firimboñañe amam-pibara naho karavantsy, ie nahitri’ o mpisorom-beio vaho o roandria’ ondatio.
He had scarcely finished speaking when Judas came--one of the Twelve--accompanied by a great crowd of men armed with swords and bludgeons, sent by the High Priests and Elders of the People.
48 F’ie nitolora’ i nifotetse azey famantarañe, ty hoe: Ze orofako, ie ty ho tsepahe’ areo.
Now the betrayer had agreed upon a sign with them, to direct them. He had said, "The one whom I kiss is the man: lay hold of him."
49 Niharinè’e amy zao t’i Iesoà, le nanoa’e ty hoe: Akore, Raby, le norofa’e.
So he went straight to Jesus and said, "Peace to you, Rabbi!" And he kissed Him eagerly.
50 Hoe t’i Iesoà ama’e: Ino o nanoe’oo, Rañetse? Nomb’eo iereo, nañity fitañe amy Iesoà, nitsepake aze.
"Friend," said Jesus, "carry out your intention." Then they came and laid their hands on Jesus and seized Him firmly.
51 Ingo, te nahiti’ ty mpiamy Iesoà ty fità’e nanàrike ty fibara’e naho nibira ty mpitoro’ i talèm-pisoroñey, nampikitsike ty ravembia’e,
But one of those with Jesus drew his sword and struck the High Priest's servant, cutting off his ear.
52 le hoe t’i Iesoà tama’e, Ampiliro an-traño’e ao o meso’oo, fa ho rotsahem-pibara ty mitam-pibara.
"Put back your sword again," said Jesus, "for all who draw the sword shall perish by the sword.
53 He atao’o te tsy mahatoka an-dRaeko henaneo naho havotra’e etoa ty Lejionan’ Anjely mandikoatse ty folo-ro’amby?
Or do you suppose I cannot entreat my Father and He would instantly send to my help more than twelve legions of angels?
54 Fe aia amy zay ty hahaheneke i Sokitse Masiñey? amy te zao i nisafiriañey.
In that case how are the Scriptures to be fulfilled which declare that thus it must be?"
55 Añe izay le hoe t’i Iesoà tamy màroy: Niakatse hañoridañe malaso, minday fibara naho karavantsy hitsepake ahy hao nahareo? Tsy nitoboke añ’ anjomban’ Añahare ao handro an-kandro nañoke anahareo tsy amam-pañembetse hao iraho.
Then said Jesus to the crowds, "Have you come out as if to fight with a robber, with swords and bludgeons to apprehend me? Day after day I have been sitting teaching in the Temple, and you did not arrest me.
56 F’ie toe hene anoeñe, hañenefañe ty sinoki’ o mpitokio. Le fonga nienga aze o mpiama’eo, nibioñe.
But all this has taken place in order that the writings of the Prophets may be fulfilled." At this point the disciples all left Him and fled.
57 Nasese’ iareo mb’añ’anjomba’ i Kaiafa talèm-pisoroñe mb’eo t’i Iesoà, ie fa vory ao o Androanavio naho o Fariseoo.
But the officers who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the High Priest, at whose house the Scribes and the Elders had assembled.
58 Nañorike aze trehantreha’e t’i Petera pak’ an-kiririsa’ i talèm-pisoroñey, le nizilike ao vaho nitobòke marine o mpitoroñeo hahaoniñe ze hizò.
And Peter kept following Him at a distance, till he came even to the court of the High Priest's palace, where he entered and sat down among the officers to see the issue.
59 Nipay mpanao dramotse o mpisorom-beio naho i fivory iabiy hanisy Iesoà hañoho-doza ama’e,
Meanwhile the High Priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus in order to put Him to death;
60 f’ie tsy nahaoniñe, ndra te naneseañe mpanao kitomboke maro hiatreatre Iesoà. Fara’e pok’eo ty mpitalily vìlañe roe
but they could find none, although many false witnesses came forward. At length there came two
61 nanao ty hoe: Vinola’ i tìañe ty hoe: Maharotsake i Anjomban’ Añaharey iraho vaho hamboatse aze indraike naho afake telo andro.
who testified, "This man said, 'I am able to pull down the Sanctuary of God and three days afterwards to build a new one.'"
62 Niongake amy zao i talèm-pisoroñey, nanao ty hoe: Tsy mahatoiñe v’iheo, amo iseseha’ iereoo?
Then the High Priest stood up and asked Him, "Have you no answer to make? What is it these men are saying in evidence against you?"
63 Fe nianjiñe avao t’i Iesoà. Le hoe i talèm-pisoroñey ama’e: Ampifantàko aman’ Añahare veloñe irehe ty hivolañe ama’ay naho ihe i Norizañe, Anan’ Añaharey.
Jesus however remained silent. Again the High Priest addressed Him. "In the name of the ever-living God," he said, "I now put you on your oath. Tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God."
64 Le hoe t’i Iesoà tama’e: Ie nisaontsie’o; fe itaroñako te ho isa’ areo i Ana’ ondaty miambesatse am-pitàn-kavanan-kaozarañ’ ey miheo mb’etoañe amo rahon-dikerañeo.
"I am He," replied Jesus. "But I tell you that, later on, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Omnipotence, and coming on the clouds of the sky."
65 Rinia’ i talèm-pisoroñey o saro’eo le nanao ty hoe: Niteratera an’Andrianañahare itia, ino ty ipaian-tika valolombeloñe ka? Songa jinanji’ areo i fiteratera’e an’Andrianañahare,
Then the High Priest tore his robes and exclaimed, "Impious language! What further need have we of witnesses! See, you have now heard the impiety.
66 akore ty fisafiri’ areo te hanoeñe? Natoi’ iereo ty hoe: Mañeva havetrake re.
What is your verdict?" "He deserves to die," they replied.
67 Le nandrora’ iereo ty lahara’e naho finofo’ iereo ty lambosi’e, vaho rinarateha’ ty ila’e,
Then they spat in His face, and struck Him--some with the fist, some with the open hand--
68 nanao ty hoe: Ry Norizañe, mitokia; Ia ty nandafa Azo?
while they taunted Him, saying, "Christ, prove yourself a Prophet by telling us who it was that struck you."
69 Nijohañe am-pimoahan-kiririsa eo t’i Petera, le nimb’ama’e mb’eo ty mpitoro-ampela nanao ty hoe: Toy nitraoke am’ Iesoà nte-Galilia irehe!
Peter meanwhile was sitting outside in the court of the palace, when one of the maidservants came over to him and said, "You too were with Jesus the Galilaean."
70 Nandañitse añatrefa’ iereo iaby t’i Petera. ie nanao ty hoe: O rakembao, nofiko o enta’oo.
He denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you mean."
71 Ie nizilik’ amy lalambeiy mb’eo, le nahatrea aze ka ty mpitoro-ampela raike, nanao ty hoe amo nijohajohañeo: Nindre amy Iesoà nte Nazareta t’indaty tia-hòeke.
Soon afterwards he went out and stood in the gateway, when another girl saw him, and said, addressing the people there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene."
72 Nitety Iesoà am-panta indraike t’i Petera, nanao ty hoe te namoea’e ondatiy.
Again he denied it with an oath. "I do not know the man," he said.
73 Tsipaepae’ izay, nisitse mb’eo o nijohajohañeo, nanao ty hoe amy Petera: Toe mpiamy fiosoña’ i Mpitokiy irehe, adodea’ o fisaontsi’oo te mpiam’iareo.
A short time afterwards the people standing there came and said to Peter, "Certainly you too are one of them, for your brogue shows it."
74 Namototse nitety naho nifatse re nanao te tsy nifànta’e ndra mbia indatiy. Inay amy zao i kekeon’ akoholahiy.
Then with curses and oaths he declared, "I do not know the man." Immediately a cock crowed,
75 Nitiahi’ i Petera i saontsi’ Iesoày, te aolo’ i kekeoy ro hitety ahy in-telo. Niakatse añe re nangoihoy an-kafairam-piaiñe.
and Peter recollected the words of Jesus, how He had said, "Before the cock crows you will three times disown me." And he went out and wept aloud, bitterly.
