1 Teo t’indaty mpiamo Fariseoo, i Nikodemosy ty tahina’e, mpifehe amo Jiosio,
And there was a man of the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
2 niheo mb’amy Iesoà mb’eo hàleñe, le nanoa’e ty hoe: O Talè, fohi’ay te mpañòke hirik’ aman’ Añahare irehe; amy te tsy eo ty hahatafetetse o viloñe anoe’oo naho tsy aman’ Añahare.
this one came to Him by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we have known that You have come from God—a teacher, for no one is able to do these signs that You do, if God may not be with him.”
3 Hoe ty natoi’ Iesoà aze: Eka! To o itaroñakoo, naho tsy asamake indraike t’indaty, le tsy hahaoniñe i Fifehean’ Añaharey re.
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone may not be born from above, he is not able to see the Kingdom of God”;
4 Aa hoe t’i Nikodemosy ama’e: Aia ty hahatolia’ ondaty, ie fa bey? Hahafimoake an-tron-drene’e ao fañindroe’e hao re hasamake?
Nicodemus says to Him, “How is a man able to be born, being old? Is he able to enter into the womb of his mother a second time, and to be born?”
5 Tinoi’ Iesoà: Eka! to t’itaroñako t’ie tsy asamak’ ami’ty rano naho amy Arofoy le tsy hahazilike amy Fifehean’ Añaharey.
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone may not be born of water and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the Kingdom of God;
6 Ze nasama’ ty nofotse ro nofotse, fe ze nasama’ i Arofoy ro arofo.
that which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Ko ilatsà’o i nitaroñakoy ty hoe: Tsy mahay tsy asamake boak’ añ’abo nahareo.
You may not wonder that I said to you, It is required for you to be born from above;
8 Mitiok’ amy ze nahi’e i tiokey, mahajanjiñe ty feo’e irehe, fe tsy oni’o ty nihirifa’e ndra ty handoaha’e; izay ka ze hene nasama’ i Arofoy.
the Spirit blows where [that] One wills, and you hear [that] One’s voice, but you have not known from where [that] One comes, and to where [that] One goes; thus is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.”
9 Hoe ty natoi’ i Nikodemosy, Aia ty hahamete izay?
Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How are these things able to happen?”
10 Hoe ty natoi’ Iesoà: Ihe mpañoke Israele hao ro tsy maharendreke o raha zao?
Jesus answered and said to him, “You are the teacher of Israel and you do not know these things?
11 Eka! to t’itaroñako te volañe’ay o fohi’aio vaho talilie’ay o nitrea’aio, fe tsy antofe’ areo o taro’aio.
Truly, truly, I say to you, what We have known We speak, and what We have seen We testify, and you do not receive Our testimony;
12 Aa naho itaroñako raha an-tane atoio, fa tsy antofe’ areo, le aia ty hahatokisa’ areo te itaroñako rahan-dindìñe ao?
if I spoke to you of the earthly things, and you do not believe, how, if I will speak to you of the heavenly things, will you believe?
13 Toe tsy eo ty nionjoñe mb’andindìñe ey naho tsy i nizotso hirik’ andikerañey, toe i Ana’ Ondatiy.
And no one has gone up to Heaven, except He who came down out of Heaven—the Son of Man who is in Heaven.
14 Manahake ty nañonjona’ i Mosè i mereñe am-patrambey añey, ro tsi-mete tsy hañengañe i Ana’ Ondatiy.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up,
15 Soa te, hanan-kaveloñe nainai’e iaby naho tsy ho momoke ze miato ama’e. (aiōnios g166)
that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life, (aiōnios g166)
16 Akore ty hakokoan’ Añahare ty voatse toy, kanao nitolora’e i lahy bako-toka’ey, soa tsy haito ze miato ama’e fa hanan-kaveloñe nainai’e. (aiōnios g166)
for God so loved the world that He gave the only begotten Son, that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life. (aiōnios g166)
17 Tsy nirahen’ Añahare mb’ ami’ty voatse toy hamàtse ty voatse toy i Anakey; fa t’ie ho fandrombahañe ty voatse toy.
For God did not send His Son into the world that He may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through Him;
18 Tsy hafàtse ze miato ama’e; fa nafàtse ka ty tsi-miato, amy te tsy natokisa’e ty tahina’ i Ana-dahi-bako tokan’ Añaharey.
he who is believing in Him is not judged, but he who is not believing has been judged already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 Zao o fàtseo, te nivotrak’ an-tane atoy i hazavàñey fe nitea’ ondatio o ieñeo te amy hazavàñey, ie raty sata.
And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil;
20 Heje’ ze hene mpanao ratio i hazavàñey, ie tsy miheo mb’amy hazavàñey tsy mone ho ventareñe o sata-rati’eo.
for everyone who is doing wicked things hates the light, and does not come into the light, that his works may not be detected;
21 Fe mb’amo hazavàñeo ty manao to, hampidodeàñe o fitoloña’eo, t’ie nanoeñe aman’ Añahare.
but he who is doing the truth comes into the light, that his works may be revealed, that in God they are having been worked.”
22 Ie añe, le nomb’an-tane’ Iehodà mb’eo t’Iesoà rekets’ o mpiama’eo le nitamañe añe miharo am’ iereo vaho nampilipotse.
After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He tarried with them, and was immersing;
23 Nampilipotse e Ainone marine i Saleime añe ka t’i Jaona, amy t’ie maro rano, le nimb’ama’e mb’eo iareo vaho nampiliporeñe.
and John was also immersing in Aenon, near to Salem, because there were many waters there, and they were coming and were being immersed—
24 Mbe tsy nafetsak’ an-drohy ao hey t’i Jaona.
for John was not yet cast into the prison—
25 Ie amy zao nifandietse amo fañaliovañeo o Tehodao naho o mpiamy Jaonao.
there arose then a question from the disciples of John with [some] Jews about purifying,
26 Aa le nimb’ amy Jaona iereo, nanao ty hoe: O Raby, i nindre ama’o alafe’ Iordaneiy, i nitalilie’oy, inao, ie ka ro mampilipotse, le kila mb’ama’e mb’eo.
and they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you testified, behold, this One is immersing, and all are coming to Him.”
27 Hoe ty natoi’ i Jaona: Tsy maha-rambe ndra inoñ’ inoñe t’indaty naho tsy natolots’aze boak’ andindìñe añe.
John answered and said, “A man is not able to receive anything if it may not have been given him from Heaven;
28 Inahareo ro valolombeloñe te nitaroñeko ty hoe, Tsy izaho i Norizañey, fa nahitrike ho fiaolo’e.
you yourselves testify to me that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am having been sent before Him;
29 Talè’ ty enga-vao ty mpañenga; mijohañe eo naho mitsendreñe aze ty rañe’ i mpañengay, le mahavaranehake aze ty fiarañanaña’ i mpañengay; izay ty mañeneke o haehakoo.
He who is having the bride is bridegroom, and the friend of the bridegroom, who is standing and hearing Him, rejoices with joy because of the voice of the bridegroom; this, then, my joy has been fulfilled.
30 Mahity te ie ty haonjoñe vaho izaho ty hareke.
It is necessary [for] Him to increase, and me to become less;
31 Ambone’ ze he’e i hirik’ amboney. Le a ty tane toy ty hirik’an-tane atoy, vaho ty tane toy ro fisaontsie’e; lohà’ ze he’e i boak’ andindìñey.
He who is coming from above is above all; he who is from the earth, from the earth he is, and from the earth he speaks; He who is coming from Heaven is above all.
32 Ze nivazoho’e naho nijanjiñe’e ro taroñe’e; fe tsy eo ty mandrambe i taro’ey.
And what He has seen and heard—this He testifies, and none receives His testimony;
33 I niantoke i taro’eiy ty namolitomboke te to t’i Andrianañahare.
he who is receiving His testimony sealed that God is true;
34 Saontsie’ i nahitrin’ Añaharey o tsaran’ Añahareo, amy te tsy arañen’ Añahare ty fanolorañe i Arofoy.
for He whom God sent, He speaks the sayings of God; for God does not give the Spirit by measure;
35 Kokoan-dRae i Anakey vaho kila natolo’e am-pità’e.
the Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand;
36 Aman-kaveloñe nainai’e ty miato amy Anakey; fe tsy hahaisake i haveloñey ty manjehatse i Anakey, ie mb’e fehe’ ty haviñeran’ Añahare. (aiōnios g166)
he who is believing in the Son has continuous life; and he who is not believing the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (aiōnios g166)
