1 Nanoiñe Iobe boak’ an-talio amy zao t’Iehovà ami’ty hoe:
And after Elius had ceased from speaking, the Lord spoke to Job through the whirlwind and clouds, [saying],
2 Ia ze o mampaieñe vere añ’enta’e tsy aman-kilalao?
Who is this that hides counsel from me, and confines words in [his] heart, and thinks to conceal [them] from me?
3 Midiaña vania hoe ondaty; le hañontaneako, vaho ho toiñe’o.
Gird your loins like a man; and I will ask you, and do you answer me.
4 Taia v’iheo te najadoko o faha’ ty tane toio? Taroño kanao mahilala.
Where was you when I founded the earth? tell me now, if you have knowledge,
5 Ia ty nisafiry o zehe’eo naho fohi’o? he ia ty namavatse taly ama’e?
who set the measures of it, if you know? or who stretched a line upon it?
6 Najadoñe ami’ty inoñ’ o faha’eo? ia ka ty nampitsatoke ty vato-lahi’e?
On what are its rings fastened? and who is he that laid the corner-stone upon it?
7 Ie hene nitrao-pisaboañe o vasia-maraiñeo vaho fonga nipoñak’ an-drebeke o anan’ Añahareo.
When the stars were made, all my angels praised me with a loud voice.
8 Ke ia ty nampigabeñe i riakey an-dalam-bey, ie vaho niboloañe boak’an-koviñe ao.
And I shut up the sea with gates, when it rushed out, coming forth out its mother's womb.
9 Ie nitseneako saroñe an-drahoñe, naho sokotry an-kamoromoroñañe.
And I made a cloud its clothing, and swathed it in mist.
10 Ie nafepèko o efe’eo vaho nampijadoñe ty sikada’e naho o lala’eo,
And I set bounds to it, surrounding it with bars and gates.
11 Ami’ty hoe: Efets’ etoa ty homba’o, le tsy ilikoarañe; etoañe ty hanjirañe o onja’o mitoabotseo.
And I said to it, Hitherto shall you come, but you shall not go beyond, but your waves shall be confined within you.
12 Fa linili’o hao i maraiñey, sikal’am-pifotoran’ andro’o añe, he nampahafohine’o i fanjirik’androy hao i toe’ey,
Or did I order the morning light in your time; and [did] the morning star [then first] see his appointed place;
13 hamihina’e o indran-taneo, hañifihañe ama’e o lo-tserekeo?
to lay hold of the extremities of the earth, to cast out the ungodly out of it?
14 Ie miova hoe lietse ambanem-boli-pitomboke, miboake hoe volon-tsaroñe ty vinta’e.
Or did you take clay of the ground, and form a living creature, and set it with the power of speech upon the earth?
15 Fe tanañe amo tsereheñeo ty hazavà’iareo, vaho ampipozaheñe ty sira mizonjoñe.
And have you removed light from the ungodly, and crushed the arm of the proud?
16 Fa niziliha’o hao ty figoangoaña’ i riakey? hera nijelanjelañe an-goledo’ i lalekey?
Or have you gone to the source of the sea, and walked in the tracks of the deep?
17 Fa nibentareñ’ ama’o hao o lalam-bein-kavilasio? fa niisa’o hao o lalan-talinjom-pihomahañeo?
And do the gates of death open to you for fear; and did the porters of hell quake when they saw you? (questioned)
18 Apota’o hao ty fienene’ ty tane toy? abejaño naho hene fohi’o?
And have you been instructed in the breadth of the [whole earth] under heaven? tell me now, what is the extent of it?
19 Aia ty lalam-bam-pimoneña’ i hazavàñey? Naho i ieñey, aia ty akiba’e?
And in what kind of a land does the light dwell? and of what kind is the place of darkness?
20 Hanesea’o mb’am-pifaritsoha’e añe: hitinoña’o o lalam-ban-kiboho’e mb’eo?
If you could bring me to their [utmost] boundaries, and if also you know their paths;
21 Fohi’o kanao Izay ty nisamahañ’ azo, vaho tsivatse o andro’oo!
I know then that you were born at that time, and the number of your years is great.
22 Fa nimoaha’o hao ty fañajañe i fanalay? Nioni’o hao ty famandroñañe o havandrao?
But have you gone to the treasures of snow? and have you seen the treasures of hail?
23 I nahajako ho an-tsan-kasotriañey, ho amy andron-kotakotake naho fialiañey?
And is there a store [of them], for you against the time of [your] enemies, for the day of wars and battle?
24 Lalañe aia ty ifampirià’ i hazavàñey, ty ifampitsiriaria’ i tiok’atiñanañey an-tane atoy?
And whence proceeds the frost? or [whence] is the south wind dispersed over the [whole world] under heaven?
25 Ia ty nihaly talaha ho a i fisorotombahañey, ndra ty lalan-kombà’ i àmpin-kotrokey?
And who prepared a course for the violent rain, and a way for the thunders;
26 Hahavia’ ty orañe an-tane tsy ama’ondaty, ndra an-diolio pok’ olombeloñe,
to rain upon the land where [there is] no man, the wilderness, where there is not a man in it; so as to feed the untrodden and uninhabited [land],
27 hahaeneñe i fatram-bey mangoakoakey hitovoaña’ i ahetsey hitiry?
and cause it to send forth a crop of green herbs?
28 Manan-drae hao i orañey? Ke ia ty nampiareñe o tsopan-jonoo?
Who is the rain's father? and who has generated the drops of dew?
29 Boak’ an-kovi’ ia o fanalao? Le i pilitem-panalan-dikerañey, ia ty nisamak’ aze?
And out of whose womb comes the ice? and who has produced the frost in the sky,
30 Ie mihagàñe hoe vato ty rano, vaho mijihetse ty tarehe’ i lalekey?
which descends like flowing water? who has terrified the face of the ungodly?
31 Lefe’ o feheñe hao o silisili’ i Kimào, ndra ampibalaheñe ty vahots’ i Kesileo?
And do you understand the band of Pleias, and have you opened the barrier of Orion?
32 Hampiakare’o an-tsà’e hao t’i Mazarote? Ho tehafe’o hao t’i Aiìse rekets’ o ana’eo?
Or will you reveal Mazuroth in his season, and the evening star with his rays? Will you guide them?
33 Fohi’o hao o fañèn-dikerañeo? Ho lefe’o ajadoñe hao ty fifehea’ iareo ty tane toy?
And know you the changes of heaven, or the events which take place together under heaven?
34 Mahafipoña-peo mb’an-drahoñe mb’eo v’iheo, hahaliporañ’ azo an-drano bey?
And will you call a cloud with your voice, and will it obey you with a violent shower of much rain?
35 Mahafañirake hotroke v’iheo, hihiririña’e mb’eo, hanoa’iareo ty hoe: Intoan-jahay?
And will you send lightnings, and they shall go? and shall they say to you, What is [your pleasure]?
36 Ia ty nampipoke hihitse an-troke ao? Ia ka ty nanolotse hilala añ’ arofo?
And who has given to women skill in weaving, or knowledge of embroidery?
37 Ia ty mahafañiake o rahoñeo ami’ty hihi’e? ke mahafañiliñe o zonjon-dikerañeo,
And who is he that numbers the clouds in wisdom, and has bowed the heaven [down] to the earth?
38 ie ampibokobokoeñe ty deboke, vaho mifampipiteke o vonga’eo?
For it is spread out as dusty earth, and I have cemented it as one hewn stone to another.
39 Ho tsatsae’o haneñe hao ty liona? Ho eneñe’o hao ty hatea-hane’ o liona tora’eo,
And will you hunt a prey for the lions? and satisfy the desires of the serpents?
40 Ie mikoloto an-dakato ao, ie misimotse ami’ty mangongòñe ao?
For they fear in their lairs, and lying in wait couch in the woods.
41 Ia ty mamahan-tsindroke o koàkeo, ie mikoaik’ aman’Añahare o ana’eo, naho mikariokariok’ avao tsy aman-kaneñe?
And who has prepared food for the raven? for its young ones wander and cry to the Lord, in search of food.
