1 Natovo’ i Eliho, ty hoe:
And Elius continued, and said,
2 Janjiño o entakoo ry androanavy mahihitseo, anokilaño ravembia, ry mahafohiñeo.
Hear me, you wise men; listen, you that have knowledge.
3 fa mitso-tsara ty ravembia manahake ty fitsohan-dañilañy mahakama.
For the ear tries words, and the mouth tastes meat.
4 Antao tika hijoboñe ty soa, hisafirian-tika ty atao fanjàka.
Let us choose judgment to ourselves: let us know amount ourselves what is right.
5 amy nanoe’ Iobey, ty hoe: Vañon-draho, fe nasintan’ Añahare amako ty zoko;
For Job has said, I am righteous: the Lord has removed my judgment.
6 handañirako hao i zokoy; tsy mete melañe i trinofan-defoñey, ndra t’ie malio-tahiñe.
And he has erred in my judgment: my wound is severe without unrighteousness [of mine].
7 Ondaty ia ty rahamba’ Iobe? ie migenoke inje hoe rano,
What man is as Job, drinking scorning like water?
8 ie mpifañosoñe amo mpitolon-karatiañeo le mitrao-pañavelo am’ondaty mengokeo?
[saying], I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, to go with the ungodly.
9 ie nanao ty hoe, Tsy vente’e ama’ondatio te ifalea’e t’i Andrianañahare.
For you should not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, whereas [there is] a visitation on him from the Lord.
10 Aa le janjiño iraho, ry aman-kilálao, Lavits’ an’ Andrianañahare ty haratiañe, naho amy El-Sadai ty fandilarañe.
Therefore hear me, you that are wise in heart: far be it from me to sin before the Lord, and to pervert righteousness before the almighty.
11 Fa o sata’eo ty hanambeza’e ondaty, o fitoloña’eo ro hanoly aze ami’ty eva’e.
Yes, he renders to a man accordingly as each of them does, and in a man's path he will find him.
12 Toe tsy manao raty t’i Andrianañahare, vaho tsy mañolake ty hatò t’i El-Sadai.
And think you that the Lord will do wrong, or will the Almighty who made the earth wrest judgment?
13 Ia ty nampamandroñ’ aze ty tane toy, vaho ia ty nampivave aze ty voatse bey toy?
And who is he that made [the whole world] under heaven, and all things therein?
14 Aa naho nampoli’e ama’e ty fo’ ondaty naho natonto’e ama’e i tro’ey vaho i kofo’ey,
For if he would confine, and restrain his spirit with himself;
15 le fonga ho nitrao-pihomahañe ze atao nofotse; vaho kila ho nibalike ho lemboke ondatio.
all flesh would die together, and every mortal would return to the earth, whence also he was formed.
16 Fe naho mahilala, janjiño, tsendreño ty feo’ o entakoo.
Take heed lest he rebuke [you]: hear this, listen to the voice of words.
17 Hifehe hao ty malaiñe to? Hafà’o hao i Fanalolahy Vañoñey?
Behold then the one that hates iniquities, and that destroys the wicked, who is for ever just.
18 I manao ty hoe ami’ty mpanjaka: Ry Votro, naho amo ana-donakeo, Ty Piaroteñe!
[He is] ungodly that says to a king, You are a transgressor, [that says] to princes, O most ungodly one.
19 Ie tsy miasy roandriañe, tsy mañaom-pañaleale mandikoatse ty rarake, ie fonga satam-pità’e.
[Such a one] as would not reverence the face of an honorable man, neither knows how to give honor to the great, so as that their persons should be respected.
20 Mihomak’aniany iereo, te petsak’ale; troboeñe ondatio le mihelañe añe, asintake tsy am-pitàñe o maozatseo.
But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; for they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside [from their right].
21 Fa amo sata’ ondatio o fihaino’eo, vazoho’e iaby o lia’eo.
For he surveys the works of men, and nothing of what they do has escaped him.
22 Tsy eo ty ieñe ndra ty fimoromoroñañe hietaha’ o tsereheñeo.
Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves.
23 Le tsy ifotoañan’ andro ty hiatrefa’ ondaty aman’Añahare ho zakaeñe.
For he will not lay upon a man more [than right].
24 Demohe’e tsy an-dohy o fatratseo, le avotra’e an-toe’e eo ty handimbe aze.
For the Lord looks down upon all men, who comprehends unsearchable things, glorious also and excellent things without number.
25 Aa kanao arofoana’e o sata’eo, le avalitaboa’e te haleñe, vaho dorodoroe’e.
Who discovers their works, and will bring night about [upon them], and they shall be brought low.
26 Lafà’e manahake o tsereheñeo an-tameañe eo ho fisambàñe,
And he quite destroys the ungodly, for they are seen before him.
27 amy t’ie nitsile tsy nañorik’ aze, le tsy teo t’ie nañaoñe o lala’eo,
Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard his ordinances,
28 toly ndra nampombae’ iareo mb’ama’e ty fitoreova’ o rarakeo fa janji’e ty toreo’ o silofeñeo—
so as to bring before him the cry of the needy; for he will hear the cry of the poor.
29 naho mianjin-dre, ia ty hanìñe? Ie aeta’e ty lahara’e, ia ty hahaisak’ aze, ndra t’ie foko ndra te ondaty—
And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? and he will hide his face, and who shall see him? whether [it be done] against a nation, or against a man also:
30 soa tsy hifehe ty tsi-aman-Kàke, vaho tsy ho fandrik’ am’ ondatio.
causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people.
31 Ia ty nanao ty hoe aman’Añahare? Fa nililoveñe, izaho tsy nandilatse;
For [there is] one that says to the Mighty One, I have received [blessings]; I will not take a pledge:
32 Anaro ahy o tsy treakoo; naho niota faly, tsy hanoeko ka?
I will see apart from myself: do you show me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do [so] any more.
33 I satri’oy hao ty hamalea’e Azo, kanao liere’o? Ihe ‘nio ty hijoboñe, fa tsy izaho; aa le saontsio o fohi’oo.
Will he take vengeance for it on you, whereas you will put [it] far [from you]? for you shall choose, and not I; and what you know, speak you.
34 Hanao ty hoe amako ondaty mahilalao, Toe mahafijanjiñe ty androanavy mahihitse:
Because the wise in heart shall say this, and a wise man listens to my word.
35 Misaontsy tsy aman-kilala t’Iobe, vaho tsy hinotsohotso’e o enta’eo.
But Job has not spoken with understanding, his words are not [uttered] with knowledge.
36 Ee te ho hereherèñe pak’am-para’e t’Iobe ie nanoiñe hoe ondaty lo-tsereke.
Howbeit do you learn, Job: no longer make answer as the foolish:
37 Tompea’e fiolàñe o hakeo’eo; miteha-pitàn-dre añivon-tikañe eo, le manovon-tsaontsy hatreatre’e t’i Andrianañahare.
that we add not to our sins: for iniquity will be reckoned against us, if [we] speak many words before the Lord.
