< Joba 22 >
1 Le hoe ty natoi’ i Elifaze nte-Temane:
Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
2 Mahasoa an’Andrianañahare hao t’indaty? mahafitoloñ’aze hao t’ie bey moko?
Can a man be profitable unto God? surely he that is wise is profitable unto himself.
3 Mahafale i El-Sadai hao t’ie vantañe? aman-tambe’e hao te fonire’o tsy aman-kila o sata’oo?
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain [to him], that thou makest thy ways perfect?
4 Ty fañeveña’o ama’e hao ty añendaha’e azo hizaka’e?
Is it for thy fear [of him] that he reproveth thee, that he entereth with thee into judgment?
5 Tsy mitoabotse hao o tahi’oo? Tsi-vatse o hakeo’oo!
Is not thy wickedness great? neither is there any end to thine iniquities.
6 Nangala’o tsoake ami’ty tsy vente’e i rahalahi’oy, vaho hinoli’o hiboridañe.
For thou hast taken pledges of thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7 Tsy nanjotsoa’o rano ty taliñiereñe hinoma’e, vaho nitana’o amy salikoeñey ty mahakama.
Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
8 Tompo’ ty tane toy ty fanalolahy; vaho mpioneñe ao ty aman-kasy.
But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man, he dwelt in it.
9 Nampolie’o hara’e o vantotseo, vaho navitso’o ty taña’ o bode-raeo.
Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
10 Toly t’ie arikoboñem-pandrike, naho itsoborean-ka’endrahañe;
Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee,
11 an-kamoromoroñañe tsy hahaisaha’o, vaho mandipots’azo ty rano bey.
Or darkness, that thou canst not see, and abundance of waters cover thee.
12 Tsy andindin-dikerañe ao hao t’i Andrianañahare? Isaho ka ty haabo’ o vasiañeo, t’ie an-tiotiots’ eñe.
Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
13 Hoe irehe: Ino ty arofoanan’ Añahare? hahafiranga o ieñe milodolodoo hao ty fizakà’e?
And thou sayest, What doth God know? can he judge through the thick darkness?
14 Mañibok’ aze o rahoñe mikopokeo tsy hahavazohoa’e, vaho an-kivoho’ i likerañey ty fidraidraita’e.
Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
15 Horihe’o hao i lalañe haehae nilià’ ondaty tsereheñeoy?
Wilt thou keep the old way which wicked men have trodden?
16 O sinintoñe aolo’ ty andro’eo; ie sinaon-drano-vohitse o faha’eo,
Who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream:
17 ie nanao ty hoe aman’ Añahare: Ihankaño zahay; naho, Ino ty mete hanoa’ i El-Sadai?
Who said unto God, Depart from us; and, What can the Almighty do for us?
18 Mbe natsafe’e hasoa avao ty anjomba’e. Fe lavits’ ahy ty famerea’ o tsivokatseo.
Yet he fired their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
19 Oni’ o vañoñeo Izay, le fale, iankahafa’ o malioo añ’ inje,
The righteous see it, and are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn:
20 [ami’ty hoe]: Toe naitoeñe o malaiñe anaio, niforototoe’ ty afo o vara’ iareoo.
[Saying], Surely they that did rise up against us are cut off, and the remnant of them the fire hath consumed.
21 Aa le mifampilongoa ama’e, hanintsiña’o, hitotsaha’ ty soa.
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
22 Ehe, rambeso am-palie’e ty Hake, vaho ahajao añ’arofo’o ao o tsara’eo.
Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
23 Mimpolia amy El-Sadai le ho vaoen-drehe, ampisitaho lavitse i kiboho’oy ty tsy to.
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up; if thou put away unrighteousness far from thy tents.
24 Ahajao an-debok’ ao ty vara, ty volamena’ i Ofire amo vato an-torahañeo.
And lay thou [thy] treasure in the dust, and [the gold of] Ophir among the stones of the brooks;
25 Le i El-Sadai ty ho vara’o, ie ty volafoty ki’e ama’o,
And the Almighty shall be thy treasure, and precious silver unto thee.
26 vaho hifalea’o t’i El-Sadai, le hampiandrae’o aman’ Añahare ty lahara’o.
For then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
27 Hihalaly ama’e irehe, le hijanjiña’e, ie havaha’o o nifantà’oo.
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee; and thou shalt pay thy vows.
28 Hisafiry irehe, le ho tafetetse vaho hireandreañe amo lala’oo ty hazavàñe.
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and light shall shine upon thy ways.
29 Naho eo ty areke, le hanoa’o ty hoe: tsiringèvotse! ty mirè-batañe ro haha.
When they cast [thee] down, thou shalt say, [There is] lifting up; and the humble person he shall save.
30 Havotso’e hao ty tsy malio tahiñe, hañaha azo ty faliom-pità’o.
He shall deliver [even] him that is not innocent: yea, he shall be delivered through the cleanness of thine hands.
