1 Hirik’aia o aly naho fifandierañe ama’ areoo? Tsy o hasiji’ areoo hao ty mitrobo añ’ova ao?
From where come wars and fights among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Mikirañe f’ie tsy manañe, mamono; mihàñe fe tsy mahazo, naho mifandietse vaho mialy, f’ie tsy manañe amy te tsy mihalaly,
You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not.
3 Mihalaly fe kanao tsy tendreke, vàlañe i hatakey, ie ho nirite’areo an-kadrao avao.
You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your lusts.
4 Ty karapilo! Tsy apota’ areo hao te falaiñañe an’ Andrianañahare ty firañetañe ami’ty voatse toy? Aa le ze te ho rañe’ ty tane toy manao ty vata’e ho rafelahin’ Añahare.
You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Hera atao’ areo te tsy aman-tali’e ty itsara’ i sokitse masiñey t’y hoe: Mañiriñe am-pihàñañe ty Arofo mimoneñe aman-tikañe ao.
Do you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?
6 Fe itolora’e fañisoham-bey. Izay ty anoe’e ty hoe: Zeharen’ Añahare ty mpiebotsebotse, fe tolora’e arofo ty mpirèke.
But he gives more grace. Why he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
7 Aa le miambanea aman’ Añahare. Liero i mpañìnjey, le hibioñe.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Harineo t’i Andrianañahare, le hitotofa’e. Mandiova fitàñe ry mpanan-kakeo vaho mañefera arofo ry mpanao sadrò-lahiagao.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.
9 Mihontoha, mandalà naho mangololoiha; afotero ho firovetañe ty fitohafa’ areo vaho halonjerañe ty haeha’ areo.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Miambanea aolo’ i Talè le hongahe’e.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
11 O ry longo, ko mifamokafoka. Ty mañìnje Hake naho mizaka Hake ro mañìnje rahalahy Vaho mizaka longo; Aa kanao maniñe Hake irehe, le tsy mpañambeñe Hake, fa mpizaka.
Speak not evil one of another, brothers. He that speaks evil of his brother, and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law, and judges the law: but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 Raike t’i Mpanolotse Hake, Ie ty maharombake naho maharotsake. Ia v’iheo te hizaka ondaty?
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who are you that judge another?
13 Hete! ie manao ty hoe: Ke anito, he hamaray, le hionjoñe mb’an-drova an-koe añe zahay, ho tambatse añe taoñe raike hanao takinake vaho hanontom-bara.
Go to now, you that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Fe tsy apota’ areo te inoñe ty ho fiai’ areo te hamaray, ie toe zono miboak’ aniany vaho mimiañ’ añe.
Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
15 Fe hàmake te hanoe’o ty hoe: Naho satri’ i Talè, te ho velon-jahay le hanao zao naho zao.
For that you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 F’ie miroharoha am-pirengevohañe henaneo, toe raty o fisengeañeo.
But now you rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Le aman-kakeo ze mahafohiñe ty soa hanoe’e fe tsy anoe’e.
Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.
