< Hosea 13 >

1 Ie nisaontsy ama-nevenevetse t’i Efraime le nonjoneñe e Israele ao, fe nizoeñe te aman-kakeo ty amy Baale, vaho nihomake.
When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but when he became guilty through Baal, he died.
2 Ie henanekeo, mitolom-pandilatse avao, nampitranake saren-draha ami’ty volafoti’ iareoo, ty amo hilala’ iareo, toe samposampon-draha, fitoloña’ ty kante; anoa’iareo ty hoe: Angao horofa’ o mpanao soroñeo i bania rey.
Now they sin more and more, and have made themselves molten images of their silver, even idols according to their own understanding, all of them the work of the craftsmen. They say of them, ‘They offer human sacrifice and kiss the calves.’
3 Aa le hanahake ty zono maraindray iereo, naho i mika am-pangoàñ’andro mihelañey; hambañe an-kàfo’e asiotsion-talìo boak’an-toe-pifofohañe eo, vaho hatoeñe boak’an-toñak’ ao.
Therefore they will be like the morning mist, like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.
4 Fa izaho Iehovà Andrianañahare’o boak’ an-tane’ i Mitsraime añe; aa le tsy hahafohin-drahare ila’e nahareo naho tsy Izaho; fa tsy eo ty mpandrombake naho tsy Izaho avao.
“Yet I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no saviour.
5 Napotako an-dratraratra añe irehe, an-tane kankañe añe.
I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
6 Ie nifahanañe le niboboke, toe nianjañe, le nikavokavok’ an-troke, izay ty nandikofa’ iareo ahy.
According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.
7 Aa le liona am’ iereo iraho henaneo, hanampohako hoe farasy añ’olon-dalañeo.
Therefore I am like a lion to them. Like a leopard, I will lurk by the path.
8 Hipoke am’iereo iraho hoe dòbe mandala handrimitse ty saron’arofo’ iareo; vaho habotseko hoe liona; ho rimiteko hoe biby hako.
I will meet them like a bear that is bereaved of her cubs, and will tear the covering of their heart. There I will devour them like a lioness. The wild animal will tear them.
9 Ry Israele, mampianto vatan-drehe, fa amako ty fañolorañ’azo.
You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your helper.
10 Aia ty mpanjaka’o handrombak’ azo an-drova’o iaby? Naho o mpizaka’oo nanoe’o ty hoe: Añomezo mpanjaka naho roandriañe?
Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, ‘Give me a king and princes’?
11 Tinoloko mpanjaka irehe ami’ty habosehako; vaho nasintako ami’ty fifomboko.
I have given you a king in my anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.
12 Mifamahotse ty tahi’ i Efraime, mihaja ao o hakeo’eo.
The guilt of Ephraim is stored up. His sin is stored up.
13 Hivotrak’ama’e ty fitsongoan’ ampela; ie ana-dahy tsy mahilala, tsy ho nihenekenek’ ambavan-koviñe ao.
The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son, for when it is time, he doesn’t come to the opening of the womb.
14 Ho jebañeko ami’ty haozara’ i Tsikeokeokey hao? ho vilieko aiñe amy Havilasiy? O Havilasio, aia o angorosi’oo? O Tsikeokeokeo, aia o fandrotsaha’oo? Mietak’ amo masokoo ty tretre. (Sheol h7585)
I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death! Death, where are your plagues? Sheol, where is your destruction? “Compassion will be hidden from my eyes. (Sheol h7585)
15 Ndra te ie mibodobodo amo vindao, ho avy ty tiok’atiñanañe; hivovo boak’ am-patram-bey ao ty tio’ Iehovà, le ho maike i rano’e manganahanay, ho ritse i loha-rano’e nigoangoañey, ho haofe’e ty an-driha’e ao hañakatse ze hene vara’e sarotse.
Though he is fruitful amongst his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of the LORD coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.
16 Ho vave’ i Somerone o tahi’eo, amy t’ie niody aman’Añahare’e; hampikorovohem-pibara; ho demoheñe an-damilamy o anak’ ajaja’ iareoo, ho boraheñe an-drimitse o rakemba mivesatseo.
Samaria will bear her guilt, for she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.”
