< Eksodosy 1 >
1 Iretoañe ty tahina’ o ana’ Israele nivotrake e Mitsraime ao nindre amy Iakòbeo songa an-kasavereña’e:
These are the names of the sons of Israel that came into Egypt together with Jacob their father; they came in each with their whole family.
2 i Reòbene, i Simone, i Levy naho Iehodà,
Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Judas,
3 Isakare, i Zebolone naho i Beniamene,
Issachar, Zabulon, Benjamin,
4 i Dane naho i Naftalý, i Gade naho i Asere.
Dan and Nephthalim, Gad and Aser.
5 Fitom-polo ty ia’ ondaty nasama’ Iakòbeo. Fa te Mitsraime añe ka t’Iosefe.
But Joseph was in Egypt. And all the souls [born] of Jacob were seventy-five.
6 Ie nivilasy t’Iosefe naho i rahalahi’e rey iaby naho ze hene nimpirai-nono ama’e,
And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
7 le niraorao o ana’ Israeleo, nanarànake naho nitombo ho maro naho toe niha-ra’elahy vaho nahatsitsike i taney.
And the children of Israel increased and multiplied, and became numerous and grew exceedingly strong, and the land multiplied them.
8 Ie amy zao, nitroatse hifehe i Mitsraime ty mpanjaka tsy nahafohiñe Iosefe.
And there arose up another king over Egypt, who knew not Joseph.
9 Hoe re am’ondati’eo. Heheke, mandikoatse naho maozatse te aman-tika o ana’ Israeleo.
And he said to his nation, Behold, the race of the children of Israel is a great multitude, and is stronger than we:
10 Antao arè hinday iareo an-kihitse ke hitombo, hera mifetsak’ atoy ty aly le mete hirekets’ amo rafelahintikañeo iereo hialy aman-tika hienga an-tane atoy.
come then, let us deal craftily with them, lest at any time they be increased, and whenever war shall happen to us, these also shall be added to our enemies, and having prevailed against us in war, they will depart out of the land.
11 Aa le nampijadoña’ iareo mpifelek’ ondevo, hamorekeke iareo an-kilankañe, le namboara’ iereo rova famandroñañe t’i Parò: i Pitòme naho i Raamèse.
And he set over them taskmasters, who should afflict them in their works; and they built strong cities for Pharao, both Pitho, and Ramesses, and On, which is Heliopolis.
12 Aa ndra te nañindra i fampisilofañey, mbe nitombo naho nangetseketseke avao ondatio; toly ndra nampangebahebake iareo o ana’ Israeleo,
But as they humbled them, by so much they multiplied, and grew exceedingly strong; and the Egyptians greatly abhorred the children of Israel.
13 le nampitoroñe’ o nte-Mitsraimeo an-kabodongero’e o ana’ Israeleo.
And the Egyptians tyrannized over the children of Israel by force.
14 Naho nanoeñe afero ty fiai’iareo, am-pifanehafañe mafe ami’ty birìke naho làlotse vaho amy ze hene fitoloñañe an-kivoke ey, le fonga an-tsenge-hery ty fampitromahañe nampanoeñe iareo.
And they embittered their life by hard labors, in the clay and in brick-making, and all the works in the plains, according to all the works, wherein they caused them to serve with violence.
15 Le hoe ty mpanjaka’ i Mitsraime amo mpanaha-mampiterake o nte-Evreoo (i Siprahae ty añara’ ty raike naho i Poahae ty añara’ ty raike):
And the king of the Egyptians spoke to the midwives of the Hebrews; the name of the one was, Sepphora; and the name of the second, Phua.
16 Hoe re: Ie mampiterake ty rakemba nte-Evre naho mahaisak’ aze am-pitoboham-pisamahañe, ie lahilahy, vonò; fa naho ampela, apoho ho veloñe.
And he said, When you do the office of midwives to the Hebrew women, and they are about to be delivered, if it be a male, kill it; but if a female, save it.
17 Fe nimpañeveñe aman’ Añahare o mpanàhao, le tsy nanoe’ iareo i nandilia’ i mpanjaka’ i Mitsraimeiy, fa nenga’ iareo veloñe o lahilahio.
But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt appointed them; and they saved the male children alive.
18 Aa le kinoi’ i mpanjaka’ i Mitsraimey i mpanaha rey naho nanoa’e ty hoe, Akore ty anoa’ areo zao, te apo’ areo veloñe o lahilahio?
And the king of Egypt called the midwives, and said to them, Why is it that you have done this thing, and saved the male children alive?
19 Hoe i mpanaha rey amy Parò, Toe tsy hambañe amo rakemba nte-Mitsraimeo o rakemba ana’ Israeleo fa mavitrike mahatoly aolo’ ty ivotraha’ ty mpanaha.
And the midwives said to Pharao, The Hebrew women are not as the women of Egypt, for they are delivered before the midwives go in to them. So they bore children.
20 Aa le nanoan’ Añahare soa o mpanahao; vaho niha-tsiefa naho nitombo an-kaozarañe ondatio.
And God did well to the midwives, and the people multiplied, and grew very strong.
21 Aa kanao nañeveñe aman’ Añahare o mpanahao le nampisavereñe’e.
And as the midwives feared God, they established for themselves families.
22 Le hoe ty nafanto’ i Parò am’ondati’e iabio: Afetsaho amy Nailey ze hene anadahy samake, fa tano ho veloñe o anak’ampelao.
And Pharao charged all his people, saying, Whatever male [child] shall be born to the Hebrews, cast into the river; and every female, save it alive.
