< Daniela 1 >

1 Tamy taom-paha-telo’ Iehoiakìme mpanjaka’ Iehodày, le nionjomb’e Ierosalaime mb’eo t’i Nebokadnetsare mpanjaka’ i Bavele vaho niarikoboñe’e.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoyakim the king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 Natolo’ i Talè am-pità’e t’Iehoiakime, mpanjaka’ Iehodà reketse ty ila’ o fàna’ i anjomban’Añahareio vaho nendese’e mb’añ’akiban-drahare’e an-tane Sinare añe, naho nazili’e an-drihan-kibohon-drahare’e ao o fanakeo.
And the Lord gave up into his hand Yehoyakim the king of Judah, with part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shin'ar into the house of his god, namely, he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.
3 Le nisaontsie’ i mpanjakay amy Aspenaze, mpifehem-pitoro’e, ty hañandesa’e ana’ Israele naho tirim-panjàka vaho ana-donake;
And the king said unto Ashpenas, the chief of his eunuchs, that he should bring out of the children of Israel, and of the royal seed, and of the nobles,
4 ze ajalahy tsy aman-kila tsy aman-kandra, maràm-bintañe, naòke amy ze atao hilala, mahihitse am-paharendrehañe naho mahimbañe am-pitsikarahañe naho maozatse am-batañe hahafijohañe añ’ anjomba’ i mpanjakay vaho haòke ami’ty fanokirañe naho fisaontsi’ o nte Kasdìo.
[Certain] lads in whom there should be no kind of blemish, but who should be handsome in appearance, and intelligent in all wisdom, and acquainted with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as should have the ability to serve in the king's palace, and that these should be taught the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
5 Le tinendre’ i mpanjakay ho a’ iareo ty anjara boak’ andro amo raha mafiri’ i mpanjakaio naho amy divay fikama’ey; izay ty famahanañe iareo telo taoñe, soa t’ie modo le hiatrake i mpanjakay.
And the king ordered for them a daily provision for its day of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank, and to educate them three years, so that at the end thereof they should serve before the king.
6 Am’ iereo o ana’ Iehodào: i Daniele, i Kananià, i Misaele vaho i Azarià;
Now there were among these of the children of Judah, Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah.
7 le tinolo’ i mpifehe’ o mpitoroñeoy añarañe: natolo’e amy Daniele ty hoe Beltsatsare; le amy Kananià ty hoe: Sadrake naho amy Misaele ty hoe: Mesàke vaho amy Azarià ty hoe: Abednego.
And the chief of the eunuchs assigned them names; and he assigned to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Chananyah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to 'Azaryah, of 'Abed-nego.
8 Fe naereñere’ i Daniele an-troke te tsy handeo-batañe amy anjara mahakama’ i mpanjakaiy naho amy divay fikama’ey; aa le nihalalie’e i mpifehem-pitoroñey t’ie tsy handeo-batañe.
But Daniel resolved in his heart that he would not defile himself with the food of the king, nor with the wine which he drank: and therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not need to defile himself.
9 Ie amy zao, natolon’Añahare amy Daniele, añamy mpifehem-pitoroñey, fiferenaiñañe naho falalàñe.
And God gave Daniel kindness and mercy before the chief of the eunuchs.
10 Le hoe i mpifehem-pitoroñey amy Daniele, añeveñako i talèko mpanjakay, ie fa nanendre ty mahakama’ areo naho ty finoma’ areo; amy t’ie mahaisake ty lahara’ areo monjemonjetse te amo ajalahi’e ila’e mitraoke’ ama’ areoo, le ho ozoñe’ areo ty lohako añatrefa’ i mpanjakay.
And the chief of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath ordered your food and your drink; for why should he see your face sadder looking than that of the lads who are of your age? and ye would thus endanger my head with the king.
11 Aa le hoe t’i Daniele amy Meltsare, nampifeleha’ i mpifehem-pitoroñey i Daniele naho i Kananià, i Misaele, vaho i Azarià,
Then said Daniel to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had given charge over Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah,
12 Ehe, venteo heike ami’ty andro folo abey o mpitoro’oo, le fahano añañe ho fihina’ay naho rano ho finome’ay.
Prove, I beseech thee, thy servants, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink;
13 Le ampisarieñe añatrefa’o eo henane zay o tarehe’aio naho ty lahara’ o ajalahy mpikama amy anjara’ i mpanjakaio; le ano ty amy hahaoniña’o o mpitoro’oo.
And then let our countenances be looked at before thee, and the countenance of the lads that eat the food of the king: and as thou mayest see [fitting], so deal with thy servants.
14 Aa le niantofa’e, vaho niventè’e andro folo;
And he hearkened unto them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 ie nimodo i folo àndroy, le nisoa vintañe naho sometsetse ty sandri’ iareo te amo ajalahy nihinañe ami’ty anjara mahakama’ i mpanjakaio.
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared better and fuller in flesh than [that of] all the lads who ate the food of the king.
16 Aa le nasita’ i mpiatrakey ty anjara mahakama naho divay ho namahana’e iareo vaho nanjotsoa’e vokan-teteke.
And the steward took away their [apportioned] food, and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.
17 Le tinolon’ Añahare hilala naho hihitse amy ze atao taratasy naho fitsikarahañe i ajalahy efatse rey; mbore naharendreke ze aroñaroñe naho nofy iaby t’i Daniele.
But as regardeth all these four lads, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 Naho nitampetse i andro natao’ i mpanjakay ho faneseañe iareo rezay, le nampihovà’ i mpifehem-pitoroñey añatrefa’ i Nebokadnetsare eo.
And at the end of the days [after] which the king had said that they should be presented, the chief of the eunuchs presented them before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 Nifanaontsy am’ iereo i mpanjakay, fe tsy teo ty nañirinkiriñe i Daniele naho i Kananià naho i Misaele vaho i Azarià; aa le nijohañe añatrefa’ i mpanjakay iereo.
And the king spoke with them; and there was not found among them all any one like Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah: and so they served before the king.
20 Nioni’ i mpanjakay te nilikoare’ iereo im-polo ze hene ambiasa naho mpañorik’andro am-pifehea’e ao ami’ty hihitse naho hilala.
And in every matter of wise understanding, which the king required of them, he found them ten times superior above all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his kingdom.
21 Nitoloñe ao ampara’ty taom-baloha’ i Korese t’i Daniele.
And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
