< Asan'ny Apostoly 6 >

1 Tamy andro rezay, ie nihamaro o mpiama’eo le nionjoñe ty fiñeoñeo’ o Grikao amo nte-Evreo te tsy nahaeneñe o vanto’eo ty fiatrahañe boak’ andro.
Now in those days, the disciples being multiplied, there developed a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews because their widows were neglected in the daily assistance.
2 Aa le kinanji’ i folo-ro’ amby rey i valobohòm-piama’ey, le nanoa’e ty hoe: Tsy sazò anay te hapoke i tsaran’ Añaharey hanjotsoa’ay am-pandambañañe.
And the twelve, having summoned the multitude of the disciples, they said, It is not right for us, having left the word of God behind, to serve tables.
3 Ie amy zao ry longo, paiao ama’ areo ty lahilahy aman-kasy fito lifotse i Arofoy naho hihitse, hampifehea’ay o raha zao.
Therefore, brothers, seek ye out seven men from you being well reported, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this need.
4 Izahay ka ro hanolo-batañe hitoloñe am-pitalahoañe naho fitoroñañe i Tsaray.
But we will continue steadfastly in prayer, and in the service of the word.
5 Ninò’ i valobohòkey i tsara zay, le jinobo’ iereo t’i Stefana, lahilahy lifo-patokisañe naho i Arofo Masiñey, naho i Filipo, i Prokoro, i Nikanora, i Timona, i Parmena vaho i Nikoleo nte-Antiokia niova ho Jiosy.
And the word was pleasing before all the multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte, a citizen of Antioch,
6 Ie nampiheoveñe añatrefa’ o Firàheñeo, le nilolofeñe vaho nanampezam-pitàñe.
men whom they placed before the apostles. And having prayed, they laid hands upon them.
7 Aa le niraorao o tsaran’ Añahareo, naho nivangongo ty iam-piama’e e Ierosaleme ao vaho maro amo mpisoroñeo ty nivohotse amy fatokisañey.
And the word of God increased, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a large company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 I Stefana, lifo-patokisañe naho haozarañe, nanao halatsàñe naho viloñe ra’elahy añivo’ ondatio.
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.
9 Fe nitroatse naho nifandietse amy Stefana o mpiamy natao Fitontona’ o Lahimidadaoy (o nte-Kireniao miharo amo nte Aleksandria naho nte Kilkia vaho nte Asiao),
But some of those from the synagogue called Libertines, and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up disputing with Stephen.
10 F’ie tsy nahatohetse ty hihitse naho i Arofo nisaontsie’ey.
And they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke.
11 Aa le sinigi’ iareo añetake t’indaty hisara ty hoe: Tsinano’ay re nitera i Mosè naho an’Andrianañahare.
Then they instigated men who said, We have heard him speaking blasphemous sayings against Moses and God.
12 Aa le navalitsikota’ iereo ondatio naho o roandriañeo naho o mpanoki-dilio, le niambotrahañe, nikozozoteñe vaho nasese mb’am-pivory ao.
And they incited the people, and the elders, and the scholars. And after approaching, they seized him, and brought him to the council.
13 Natroa’ iereo ty mpifilo hanao kitombok’ aze ami’ty hoe: Tsy apo’ t’indaty tia ty manirìka ty anjomba miavake toy naho i Hake,
And they put forward false witnesses who said, This man does not cease speaking blasphemous sayings against the holy place, and the law.
14 le jinanji’ay nanao ty hoe te ho rotsahe’ Iesoà nte Nazareta ty anjomba toy vaho hovae’e o lilitse nitaroñe’ i Mosè aman-tikañeo.
For we have heard him saying that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place, and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.
15 Kiniro’ o mpivory iabio le nahaisake te nanahake ty laharan’ anjely i lahara’ey.
And all who sat in the council, having gazed upon him, saw his face like a face of an agent.
