1 Fe teo t’indaty atao Ananiasy; ie naho i Safirae vali’e ro nandeta-hanañañe,
But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 le nañaja’e i vili’ey ampahafohina’ i rakemba’ey naho nañendesa’e vaho napo’e am-pandia’ o Firàheñeo.
and kept back part of the price, his wife also being aware of it, then brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3 Aa le hoe t’i Petera: O Ananiasy, akore te nilifore’ i mpañìnjey ty tro’o handañitse amy Arofo Masiñey, ie nañajà’o i vilin-taney?
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Tsy tama’o avao hao t’ie mbe tsy naletake? le ie naletake, tsy ihe ty nanandily ama’e? Akore te nikililie’o an-trok’ ao o raha zao? Tsy ondatio ty nandañira’o fa i Andrianañahare.
While you kept it, didn’t it remain your own? After it was sold, wasn’t it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God.”
5 Ie jinanji’ i Ananiasy i tsaray le nikorovoke eo, nihomake; vaho nivotraha’ ty fangebahañe ze hene nahajanjiñe.
Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. Great fear came on all who heard these things.
6 Niongak’ amy zao o ajalahio, namolonkoñe naho nitakoñe aze mb’eo vaho nalenteke.
The young men arose and wrapped him up, and they carried him out and buried him.
7 Ie miha-telo ora añe, le nizilik’ ao ka ty vali’e, fa namoea’e ty nizò.
About three hours later, his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.
8 Aa hoe ty ontane’ i Petera tama’e: Naleta’ areo amy vili’e zao v’i taney? le hoe re: Eka, ie.
Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” She said, “Yes, for so much.”
9 Le hoe t’i Petera tama’e: Akore ty nikinia’ areo hitsoke ty Arofo’ Iehovà? Hehe te an-dalañe eo ty fandia’ o nandeveñe i vali’oio, hitakoñ’ azo ka.
But Peter asked her, “How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
10 Le nidoñe am-pandia’e eo re namoe’ay. Naho nizilik’ ao i ajalahy rey, zoe’ iereo t’ie nivetrake, le nitakone’ iareo vaho naleveñe añ’ila’ i vali’ey.
She fell down immediately at his feet and died. The young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband.
11 Nangebahebake iaby i fivoriy naho ze hene nahajanjiñe.
Great fear came on the whole assembly, and on all who heard these things.
12 Maro ty viloñe naho raha tsi-tantane nanoeñe am-pità’ o Firàheñeo añivo’ ondatio. Ie fonga nitrao-drehak’ an-kiririsa’ i Solomona ao.
By the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done amongst the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
13 Tsy nahavany hirekets’ am’ iereo ka o ila’eo, f’ie nonjone’ ondatio.
None of the rest dared to join them; however, the people honoured them.
14 Antsake te nitovoñe amy Talè o mpiatoo; toe lahialeñe: lahilahy naho rakemba.
More believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.
15 Aa le nasese añ’ olon-dalañe eo o matindrio, fonga nampandreañ’ an-tihy naho am-pan­dreañe, hera halofa’ ty talinjo’ i Petera t’ie niary eo.
They even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mattresses, so that as Peter came by, at least his shadow might overshadow some of them.
16 Maro ka ty nifanontoñe hirik’ amo rova amparipari’ Ierosalemeo ninday ty marare naho ze nitokoen-kokolampa vaho hene nijangañe.
The multitude also came together from the cities around Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits; and they were all healed.
17 Niongak’ amy zao ty talèm-pisoroñe naho ze vavea’e amo Tsadokeo, lifo-pamarahiañe,
But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy
18 le nipao-pitañe amo Firàheñeo vaho najorobo’ iareo am-balabei’ i màroy ao;
and laid hands on the apostles, then put them in public custody.
19 fe sinoka’ ty anjelin’ Añahare amy haleñey o lalam-beim-porozòo naho nakare’e vaho hoe ty asa’e:
But an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors by night, and brought them out and said,
20 Akia, mijohaña an-kiririsan’ anjomban’ Añahare ey vaho taroño am’ondatio ze hene enta’ ty haveloñe toy.
“Go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.”
21 Ie nahajanjiñe le nimoak’ añ’ anjomban’ Añahare ao te maraindrain-tsikiake, nañoke. Aa naho niavy ao ty talèm-pisoroñe naho o mpiama’eo le kinoi’ iereo i fivoriy hifanontoñe naho ze hene roandria’ o nte-Israeleo, vaho nañitrik’ am-porozò ao haneseañe iareo.
When they heard this, they entered into the temple about daybreak and taught. But the high priest and those who were with him came and called the council together, with all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 Fe naho pok’eo o mpifelekeo, tsy nahaoniñe iareo am-porozò ao, le nibalike vaho nitalily
But the officers who came didn’t find them in the prison. They returned and reported,
23 ty hoe: Toe nizoe’ay nigabeñe soa i porozòoy songa nijaridiñe amo lalañeo o mpigaritseo; fa ie sinoka’ay le tsy nahaoniñe ondaty ao zahay.
“We found the prison shut and locked, and the guards standing before the doors, but when we opened them, we found no one inside!”
24 Ie jinanji’ i talèn-anjombay naho o mpisorom-beio i hoe zay, le niveren-draha vaho nañarahara ze mete ho nizò.
Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these words, they were very perplexed about them and what might become of this.
25 Nimb’eo amy zao ty nitalily ty hoe: Inao, mijohañe añ’ anjomban’ Añahare ao mañòke ondatio indaty najò’ areo an-drohy ao rey!
One came and told them, “Behold, the men whom you put in prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.”
26 Aa le nimb’eo i mpifehey rekets’ o mpañambeñeo nangalake iareo mora fa nihembañe am’ ondatio, ke hametsaham-bato.
Then the captain went with the officers, and brought them without violence, for they were afraid that the people might stone them.
27 Ie nasese’ iareo, le navotra’ iereo añatrefa’ i fivoriy vaho hoe ty ontane’ i talèm-pisoroñey am’ iereo:
When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,
28 Tsy linili’ay mafe hao t’ie tsy hañoke amy añarañe zay? Te mone nitsitsihe’ areo t’Ierosaleme amo fañòha’ areoo, vaho kililie’ areo zahay hivave ty lio’ Indatiy!
saying, “Didn’t we strictly command you not to teach in this name? Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”
29 Hoe ty natoi’ i Petera naho o Firàheñeo: Tsy mete tsy mañorike an’ Andrianañahare zahay fa tsy ondaty.
But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
30 Natroan’ Añaharen-droaen-tikañey t’Iesoà vinono naho naradorado’areo an-katae.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.
31 Ie ro naonjon’ Añahare am-pità’e havana ho Talè naho Mpandrom­bake, hanolotse fisolohoañe naho fañahan-kakeo amy Israele.
God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.
32 Valolombeloñe amy rezay zahay naho i Arofo Masiñe natolon’ Añahare amo mpañorik’ azeoy.
We are his witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
33 Ie nahajanjiñe, le niondro­ñon­droñe naho nikilily t’ie hohofan-doza.
But they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and were determined to kill them.
34 Fe niongake amy fivoriy t’i Gamaliela, Fariseo, mpañoke Hake, niasia’ ze hene ondaty, le linili’e te hakareñe alafe ao heik’ indaty rey.
But one stood up in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, honoured by all the people, and commanded to put the apostles out for a little while.
35 Le hoe re am’iereo: Ry nte-Israeleo, mitaoa amy ze hikililiañe am’ indaty rey.
He said to them, “You men of Israel, be careful concerning these men, what you are about to do.
36 Ie omalemale, nitroatse t’i Teodasy le nirengevoke h’ondaty vaho nirekets’ ama’e t’indaty miha-efa-jato. F’ie vinono le fonga nabaibay o nañorik’ azeo vaho nihelañe añe.
For before these days Theudas rose up, making himself out to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves. He was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed and came to nothing.
37 Ie añe, niongake nandimbe aze t’i Jodasy nte Galilia amy andro fañiahañe rezay; nampañorihe’e t’indaty, f’ie nihomake naho niparaitake iaby ze nañorik’ aze.
After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the enrolment, and drew away some people after him. He also perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.
38 Aa le hoe ty taroko ama’ areo henaneo, isitaho ondatio, apoho; fa naho a ondaty i safiry naho fitoloñañey, le hihotrake;
Now I tell you, withdraw from these men and leave them alone. For if this counsel or this work is of men, it will be overthrown.
39 fe naho an’An­drianañahare, tsy ho mete’ areo harotsake, hera ho zoeñe te mifanjomotse aman’ Añahare.
But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow it, and you would be found even to be fighting against God!”
40 Niantofa’ iareo i namerea’ey; le kinanji’ iareo o Firàheñeo naho nilafaeñe naho nililieñe tsy hivolañe ami’ty tahina’ Iesoà ka, vaho nihahañe.
They agreed with him. Summoning the apostles, they beat them and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 Nienga i fivoriy iereo, niankahake te natao mañeva nisalareñe ho amy tahina’ey.
They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonour for Jesus’ name.
42 Boak’ andro iereo tañ’ anjomban’ Añahare ao naho nitsatsàk’ akiba nitolom-pañoke vaho nitaroñe te Iesoà i Norizañey.
Every day, in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and preaching Jesus, the Christ.
