1 Ie amy zao, naho fa honjone’ Iehovà an-tangololahy mb’an-dikerañe añe t’i Elià, le nindreza’ i Elià lia t’i Elisà mb’e Gilgale añe.
And it came to pass, when the Lord was going to take Eliu with a whirlwind as it were into heaven, that Eliu and Elisaie went out of Galgala.
2 Le hoe t’i Elià amy Elisà: Ehe, eo hey irehe, fa nampihitrife’ Iehovà mb’e Betele añe iraho. Aa hoe t’i Elisà, Kanao veloñe t’i Iehovà naho veloñe ty arofo’o, izaho tsy hieng’ azo. Aa le nizotso mb’e Betele mb’eo iereo.
And Eliu said to Elisaie, Stay here, I pray you; for God has sent me to Baethel. And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you; so they came to Baethel.
3 (Nimb’ amy Elisà mb’eo o anam-pitoky e Beteleo nanao ama’e ty hoe: Fohi’o hao te hasita’ Iehovà boak’ ambone’o ty talè’o te anito? Le hoe re: Eka ‘nio apotako; mianjina.)
And the sons of the prophets who were in Baethel came to Elisaie, and said to him, Do you know, that the Lord this day is going to take your lord away from your head? And he said, Yes, I know [it]; be silent.
4 Le hoe t’i Elià ama’e: O Elisà, Ehe eo hey irehe, fa nampisangitrife’ Iehovà mb’e Ieriko mb’eo iraho. Aa hoe re, Kanao veloñe t’i Iehovà naho veloñe ty arofo’o, tsy hengako. Aa le nimb’e Ieriko mb’eo iereo.
And Eliu said to Elisaie, Stay here, I pray you; for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. And he said, [As] the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you. And they came to Jericho.
5 (Nimb’ amy Elisà mb’eo o anam-pitoky e Ierikoo nanao ty hoe ama’e: Fohi’o hao te hasita’ Iehovà tsy ho ambone’o ty talè’o te anito? Le hoe re: Eka, apotako: mianjina.)
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho drew near to Elisaie, and said to him, Do you know that the Lord is about to take away your master today from your head? And he said, Yes, I know [it]; hold your peace.
6 Le hoe t’i Elià ama’e: Ehe, eo hey irehe, fa nirahe’ Iehovà mb’ am’ Iordaney mb’ eo iraho, le hoe re: Kanao veloñe t’i Iehovà, naho veloñe ty arofo’o, izaho tsy hieng’azo. Aa le nimb’eo i roroey.
And Eliu said to him, Stay here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to Jordan. And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you: and they both went on.
7 Nimb’eo ka ty limampolo amo anam-pitokio le nijohañe tandrife iareo ey; vaho nijohañe añ’ olo’ Iordaney i roey.
And fifty men of the sons of the prophets [went also], and they stood opposite afar off: and both stood on [the bank] of Jordan.
8 Rinambe’ i Elià i sarimbo’ey le naholonkolo’e naho linafa’e i ranoy naho nivaky roe mb’atia mb’ etia vaho nitsak’ an-tane maike ie roe.
And Eliu took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and struck the water: and the water was divided on this side and on that side, and they both went over on dry ground.
9 Naho tafatsake, le hoe t’i Elià amy Elisà; Halalio ze hanoeko ho azo, aolo’ te ho rambeseñe ama’o. Le hoe t’i Elisà: Ehe, te hanañ’ anjara roe amy arofo’oy iraho.
And it came to pass while they were crossing over, that Eliu said to Elisaie, Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken up from you. And Elisaie said, Let there be, I pray you, a double [portion] of your spirit upon me.
10 Le hoe re: Raha sarotse i nihalalia’oy f’ie mahaisak’ ahy te ampisitaheñe ama’o, le ho azo’o; fa naho tsy izay, le ho tsie.
And Eliu said, You have asked a hard thing: if you shall see me when I am taken up from you, then shall it be so to you; and if not, it shall not be [so].
11 Aa ie nitolom-pañavelo mb’eo nifanaontsy, le nisodehañe eo ty sareten’ afo naho soavalan’ afo nampiria iereo roe le nionjoñe an-tangololahy mb’ andikerañe añe t’i Elià.
And it came to pass as they were going, they went on talking; and, behold, a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and it separated between them both; and Eliu was taken up in a whirlwind as it were into heaven.
12 Niisa’ i Elisà, le hoe ty fipaza’e: Raeko, Raeko, o sarete’ Israeleo, naho o mpiningi’eo! le tsy nioni’e ka; rinambe’e amy zao o siki’eo vaho rinia’e roe.
And Elisaie saw, and cried, Father, father, the chariot of Israel, and the horseman thereof! And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his garments, and tore them into two pieces.
13 Rinambe’e ka i sarimbo’ i Elià nipok’ ama’ey le nibalike vaho nijohañe añ’ olo’ Iordaney eo.
And Elisaie took up the mantle of Eliu, which fell from off him upon Elisaie; and Elisaie returned, and stood upon the brink of Jordan;
14 Rinambe’e i sarimbo’ i Elià nipok’ama’ey le linafa’e i ranoy ami’ty hoe: Aia t’Iehovà Andrianañahare’ i Elià? aa ie linafa’e o ranoo, le nifampiria mb’atia, mb’etia; le nitsake t’i Elisà.
and he took the mantle of Eliu, which fell from off him, and struck the water, and said, Where is the Lord God of Eliu? and he struck the waters, and they were divided hither and there; and Elisaie went over.
15 Aa ie niisa’ o anam-pitoki’ Ieriko eio, le hoe iereo: Mipetak’ amy Elisà ty arofo’ i Elià. Le nimb’ ama’e mb’eo nifanalaka ama’e vaho nibokoboko an-tane añatrefa’e.
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho on the opposite side saw him, and said, The spirit of Eliu has rested upon Elisaie. And they came to meet him, and did obeisance to him to the ground.
16 Le hoe ty asa’ iareo ama’e: Ingo hey ty lahilahy maozatse limampolo amo mpitoro’oo; ehe, ampihitrifo, hipay i talè’oy, hera nampionjone’ i Kofò’ Iehovày vaho nahifi’e an-kaboañ’ ey ndra am-bavatane ao. Le hoe re. Ko mañitrike.
And they said to him, Behold now, [there are] with your servants fifty men of strength: let them go now, and seek your lord: perhaps the Spirit of the Lord has taken him up, and cast him into Jordan, or on one of the mountains, or on one of the hills. And Elisaie said, You shall not send.
17 F’ie nañosik’ aze am-para’ t’ie niheve, le hoe re: Iraho! le nirahe’ iereo i lahilahy limampolo rey; nitsoeaha’ iareo telo andro fa tsy nahatrea.
And they pressed him until he was ashamed; and he said, Send. And they sent fifty men, and sought three days, and found him not.
18 Nimpoly ama’e iereo ie nitambatse e Ieriko ao, le hoe re am’ iereo, tsy nivolañeko hao ty hoe: Ko mb’eo?
And they returned to him, for he lived in Jericho: and Elisaie said, Did I not say to you, Go not?
19 Nanao ty hoe amy Elisà ondati’ i rovaio: Ehe mahaisaha te fanjaka ty toe’ ty rova toy, ampahaoniñan- talèko; fe raty ty rano’e, vaho tsy mamokatse o taneo.
And the men of the city said to Elisaie, Behold, the situation of the city [is] good, as [our] lord sees; but the waters [are] bad, and the ground barren.
20 Aa le hoe re: Endeso korobo vao iraho le ajoño ama’e ty sira. Le nandesa’ iereo.
And Elisaie said, Bring me a new pitcher, and put salt in it. And they took [one], and brought [it] to him.
21 Le nionjomb’ amo rano manganahanao re naho nahifi’e ama’e i siray, vaho nanao ty hoe: Hoe t’Iehovà, fa jinangako o rano retoañe, tsy ama’e ka henane zao ty fampihomahañe ndra ty tsy havokarañe.
And Elisaie went out to the spring of the waters, and cast salt therein, and says, Thus says the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be any longer death thence or barren [land].
22 Aa le nivoatse i ranoy pake henane ty amy saontsi’ i Elisà nitaroñe’ey.
And the waters were healed until this day, according to the word of Elisaie which he spoke.
23 Nienga re vaho nionjomb’e Betele añe; aa ie nañavelo an-dalam-b’eo, teo ty ajaja niakatse i rovay nikizak’ aze ami’ ty hoe: Mionjona ty sola, mionjona ty sola;
And he went up thence to Baethel: and as he was going up by the way there came up also little children from the city, and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, bald-head, go up.
24 Nitolike mañamboho re nahaisake iareo le nozoñe’e ami’ty tahina’ Iehovà. Aa le niakatse boak’ amy alay ty dobe rene’e roe, nandrimitse ty efapolo-ro’ amby am’ iereo.
And he turned after them, and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And, behold, there came out two bears out of the wood, and they tore forty and two children of them.
25 Boak’ ao re nimb’e Karmele añe, le hirik’ao nimpoly mb’e Somerone añe.
And he went thence to mount Carmel, and returned thence to Samaria.
