1 Aa hoe ty fitsakorean-tro’ i Davide: Indraik’ andro ke ho faopaohem-pità’ i Saole iraho; aa ino ty hahasoa ahy mandikoatse te hibioñe mb’an-tane’ o nte-Pilistio mb’eo; toe hafoe’ i Saole iraho tsy hipay ahy an-tane Israele ao ka; aa le ho poliorako o fità’eo.
And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me to seek me any more within all the limits of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.
2 Niavotse amy zao t’i Davide nitsake mb’eo rekets’ i lahilahy enenjato mpiama’e rey; mb’ amy Akise, ana’ i Maòke, mpanjaka’ i Gate mb’eo.
And David arose and passed over, he and the six hundred men that were with him, to Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
3 Aa le nindre nimoneñe amy Akise e Gate ao t’i Davide, ie naho ondati’eo, songa an-kasavereña’e naho i Davide rekets’ i vali’e roe rey, i Akinoame nte-Iezreele, vaho i Abigale nte Karmele, nivali’ i Nabaley.
And David abode with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household; David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jizreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.
4 Ie natalily amy Saole te nivoratsake mb’e Gate añe t’i Davide; le tsy nipaia’e ka.
And it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath; and he sought no more for him.
5 Le hoe t’i Davide amy Akise: Aa naho nahatrea fañisohañe am-pihaino’o iraho, le anoloro toetse raik’ amo rova an-kalokeo; fa ino ty himoneña’ ty mpitoro’o an-drovam-panjaka mindre ama’o atoa?
And David said to Achish, If now I have found favour in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some country-town, that I may abide there; for why should thy servant abide in the royal city with thee?
6 Natolo’ i Akise aze ty Tsiklage amy andro zay; aa le atao hanañam-panjaka’ Iehodao pak’ androany ty Tsiklage.
And Achish gave him Ziklag that day; therefore Ziklag belongs to the kings of Judah to this day.
7 Le ty hamaro’ ty andro nimoneña’ i Davide an-tane’ o nte-Pilistio: taoñe raike-tsi-efa-bolañe.
And the time that David abode in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months.
8 Nionjoñe mb’eo amy zao t’i Davide rekets’ o mpiama’eo, naname o nte-Gesorio naho o nte-Gizrio vaho o nte-Amalekeo, amy t’ie nimoneñe an-tane haehae, amy fañaveloa’o boak’e Sore pak’an-tane Mitsraimey.
And David and his men went up and made a raid upon the Geshurites, and the Gerzites, and the Amalekites: for those were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, and as far as the land of Egypt.
9 Zinevo’ i Davide i taney, le tsy napo’e ho veloñe ndra lahilahy ndra ampela, naho tinava’e iaby o añondrio naho o añombeo naho o borìkeo naho o ramevao vaho o saroñeo. Le nimpoly mb’e Akise mb’eo.
And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
10 Le hoe t’i Akise: Aia ty nañatsafa’o lalañe anindroany? Le hoe t’i Davide: Añ’ila’ Iehodà atimo añe, naho atimo’ o nte-Ierakmileo mb’ atimo’ o nte-Kenio.
So Achish said, Have ye not made a raid to-day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.
11 Ndra lahilahy ndra ampela tsy nado’ i Davide ho veloñe hera hitaroñeñe amy Gate ty hoe: Zao ty nanoe’ i Davide. Ie ty nanoe’e amo hene andro naha-tan-tane’ o nte-Pilistio azeo.
And David left neither man nor woman alive, to bring [them] to Gath, for he said, Lest they should tell of us, saying, So did David. And such was his custom as long as he abode in the country of the Philistines.
12 Niantok’ i Davide t’i Akise, ie nanao ty hoe: Toe nampitrotrotse vatan-dre am’ondati’e Israeleo; aa le ho mpitoroko nainai’e.
And Achish trusted David, saying, He has made himself utterly odious among his people Israel; and he shall be my servant for ever.
