1 Petera 2
1 Aa ie fa napoke ze fonga filoa-tiñake, ze hene famañahiañe naho hasoa-piatrefañe naho ty fihàñañe vaho ze fañinjeañe iaby,
Having put aside, then, all evil, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all evil speakings,
2 manahake te ajaja-mena, salalao ty ronono hiringiri’ i tsaray, hitomboa’ areo amy rombakey,
as newborn babies, desire the reasonable, unspoiled milk, so that you may grow up to salvation,
3 kanao fa nitsopeke ty hasoa’ i Talè,
if [it] so be [that] you tasted that the LORD [is] good,
4 naho nimb’ama’e, i Vato veloñe nado’ ondatio fe jinobon’ Añahare vaho toe sarotse ama’ey,
to whom coming—a living stone—having indeed been disapproved of by men, but with God—choice [and] precious,
5 le ampitroareñe ka nahareo vato veloñeo, ho anjomban’ arofo, naho fisoroñañe miavake, hañenga soron’ arofo non’ Añahare añam’ Iesoà Norizañey.
and you yourselves are built up as living stones [into] a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 Ty amy pinatetse an-tsokitse masiñe ao: Ingo, apoko e Tsione ao ty vaton-kotsoke jinoboñe, vaton-kotsoke sarotse, le tsy ho salatse ty miato ama’e.
For this reason, also, it is contained in the Writing: “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, choice, precious, and he who is believing on Him may not be put to shame”;
7 I hasarota’ey ho ama’ areo mpiatoo, fe amo manjehatseo le: Nivalike ho vato-kotsoke i vato nado’ o mpandranjioy.
to you, then, who are believing—the preciousness; but to the unbelieving, [the] stone that the builders disapproved of—this One has become the head of [the] corner,
8 naho ty hoe: Ty vato mahatsikapy naho ty vato mahasirìka. Tsikapie’ i tsaray o mpanjehatseo; fa izay ty nanendreañe iareo.
and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense—who are stumbling at the word, being unbelieving—to which they were also set.
9 Fe tariratse jinoboñe nahareo, firimboñam-pisoroñe aman-kasy, fifeheañe miavake, famosora nambahañe ho hanaña’e, hitaroñe ty hasoa’ i nikanjy anahareo hiakatse i ieñey ho ami’ty fireandreaña’e fanjakay.
But you [are] a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that you may show forth the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light,
10 Amy t’ie tsy nifamosorañe taolo, fe famosoran’ Añahare henaneo; tsy nitretrezeñe fe iferenaiñañe henaneo.
who [were] once not a people, but [are] now the people of God; who had not found mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 O ry noroko, osiheko hoe t’ie ambahiny naho mpañialo, ty hifoneñe amo raha mahatsontso’ i nofotseio naho mifañotakotak’ am-betsevetse ao.
Beloved, I call on [you], as strangers and sojourners, to keep from the fleshly desires that war against the soul,
12 Mañaveloa an-kavañonañe amo kilakila’ ndatio, ie mañarinjèñe anahareo hoe tsy vokatse, naho misamba o sata soa’ areoo, ro handrenge an’ Andrianañahare amy androm-pitilihañey.
having your behavior right among the nations, so that whenever they speak against you as evildoers, seeing [your] good works, they may glorify God in [the] day of inspection.
13 Aa le miandalia amy ze fifelehañe noriza’ ondatio, ty amy Talè; naho ty mpanjaka, amy te manandily;
Be subject, then, to every human creation, because of the LORD, whether to a king, as the highest,
14 naho o ragovao amy t’ie nirahe’e handilo o manao ratio vaho handrenge o manao soao.
whether to governors, as to those sent through him, for punishment, indeed, of evildoers, and a praise of those doing good;
15 Izay ty satrin’ Añahare, t’ie mitolon-kasoa ro hampitsiñe ty habahimoa’ ondaty seretseo,
because, so is the will of God, doing good, to put to silence the ignorance of the foolish men—
16 toe haha nahareo, le ko atao fandrongonan-karatiañe i fidadàñey, fa iambaneo kanao mpitoron’ Añahare.
as free, and not having freedom as the cloak of evil, but as servants of God;
17 Hene iasio, kokò o rolongoo, mañeveña aman’ Añahare, iasio i mpanjakay.
give honor to all; love the brotherhood; fear God; honor the king.
18 Ry mpitoroñeo, iambaneo o tompo’ areoo am-pañeveñañe àmpoñe, tsy t’ie soa naho lem-po avao, fa o mengokeo ka.
Servants, be subject in all fear to the masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the crooked;
19 Inao ty mañeva isoke, t’ie mpañeveñe aman’ Añahare, ro mifeake sotry te ampisoañeñe tsy aman-katò.
for this [is] grace: if anyone endures sorrows because of conscience toward God, suffering unrighteously;
20 Ino ty tombo’e t’ie mahafifeake lafa ty amo tahiñeo? Ie manao soa te ampisoañeñe vaho mifeak’ am-pahaliñisañe, le hisohen’ Añahare.
for what renown [is it], if sinning and being battered, you endure [it]? But if, doing good and suffering [for it], you endure, this [is] grace with God,
21 Inao ty nikanjiañe anahareo, kanao nijalea’ i Norizañey, itsikombeo, hañoriha’ areo o lia’eo.
for to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving to you an example, that you may follow His steps,
22 Ie tsy nanan-tahiñe, naho tsy nioniñe am-palie’e ty famañahiañe,
who did not commit sin, nor was guile found in His mouth,
23 le ie nonjireñe, tsy namale añ’ ònjitse; ie nijale tsy nañebañe, fe nitolom-piato amy Mpizaka an-katòy.
who being reviled—was not reviling again, suffering—was not threatening, and was committing Himself to Him who is judging righteously,
24 Ie ty nivave o hakeon-tikañeo am-pañòva’e an-katae ajale eo, hampihomaheñe o tahiñeo soa te ho veloñe an-kavañonañe tika, fa o fere’eo ro mahajangañe anahareo.
who Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree that having died to sins, we may live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed;
25 Ie nitolom-panjike hoe añondry, fe nitampoly amy Mpiarake naho Mpisari’ o arofo’ areooy henaneo.
for you were as sheep going astray, but now you turned back to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
