< 1 Mpanjaka 18 >
1 Ie andro maro añe, le niheo amy Elià ty tsara’ Iehovà, amy taom-paha-teloy ami’ ty hoe: Akia, miatrefa amy Akabe, fa hampahaviako orañe ty tane toy.
And it lasted many days, when the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Achab; and I will give rain upon the face of the earth.
2 Aa le niheo mb’eo t’i Elià hiatrek’ amy Akabe. Toe nampalovilovy ty san-kerè e Somerone ao.
And Elijah went to show himself unto Achab; and the famine was grievous in Samaria.
3 Le kinanji’ i Akabe t’i Obadià mpamandroñe i anjombay (toe mpañeveñe am’Iehovà t’i Obadià;
And Achab called 'Obadiah, who was the superintendent of the house; —(now 'Obadiah feared the Lord greatly;
4 fa teo te nañitoa’ Iizebele o mpitoki’ Iehovào, le rinambe’ i Obadià ty mpitoky zato naho naeta’e ki-limampolo an-dakato ao vaho finaha’e mofo naho rano.)
And it happened, when Izebel cut off the prophets of the Lord, that 'Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them fifty each in one cave, and provided them with bread and water; )
5 Fa hoe ty asa’ i Akabe amy Obadià, Akia, tsitsiho i taney, mb’ amy ze rano manganahana naho mb’amo torahañeo hera hahaisak’ ahetse tika handrombahañe o soavalao naho o borìkeo ho veloñe, tsy mone ho motso aman-tika o hare iabio.
And Achab said unto 'Obadiah, Go through the land, unto all the springs of water, and unto all the brooks, peradventure we may find grass and keep alive horse and mule, that we lose not all the cattle.
6 Aa le nifanjarà’ iereo i taney hirangà’ iareo; nanjenge mb’ añ’ ila’e t’i Akabe, vaho nitakiokioke mb’añ’ ila’e t’i Obadià.
So they divided between them the land to pass through it: Achab went one way by himself alone, and 'Obadiah went another way by himself alone.
7 Aa ie amy fañaveloa’ey t’i Obadia le nifanalaka ama’e t’i Elià; ie niisa’e, le nihotrak’ an-dahara’e, nanao ty hoe: Tsy i Elià talèkoy v’iheo?
And as 'Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah came toward him; and he recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou here indeed, my Lord Elijah?
8 Le hoe ty natoi’e, Izaho ‘nio; akia, taroño amy talè’oy ty hoe, Atoy t’i Elià.
And he said unto him, I am: go, say unto thy Lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
9 Le hoe re, Ino o hakeokoo, te hasese’o am-pità’ i Akabe ty mpitoro’o hanjevoa’e?
And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldst deliver thy servant into the hand of Achab, to slay me?
10 Kanao veloñe t’Iehovà Andrianañahare’o, tsy eo ty fifeheañe ndra fifelehañe tsy nañiraha’ i talèkoy hitsoeha’e; le ie nanao ty hoe, Tsy atoy re, le nampifantae’e i borizàñey naho i fifeheañey t’ie tsy naharendrek’ azo.
As the Lord thy God liveth, there is not a nation or kingdom whither my Lord hath not sent to seek thee; and when they said, He is not here: he caused that kingdom and nation to take an oath, that no one could find thee.
11 Ie amy zao, hoe ty saontsi’o: Akia, taroño amy talè’oy. Inao, fa atoy t’i Elià.
And now thou sayest, Go, say unto thy Lord, Behold, here is Elijah.
12 Ie amy zay, vata’e hienga azo iraho le hasese’ ty Tio’ Iehovà mb’amy amoeako añey irehe; aa ie miheo mb’amy Akabe mb’eo hataliliko, vaho tsy mahatendrek’ azo, le havetra’e; toe mpañeveñe am’ Iehovà ty mpitoro’o sikal’ ami’ ty nahajalahy ahy.
And it may come to pass, that, when I go from thee, the spirit of the Lord may carry thee whither I know not; and when I come to inform Achab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me; but I thy servant have feared the Lord from my youth.
13 Tsy naboak’ amy talèkoy hao ty nanoeko, ie nanjamañe o mpitoki’ Iehovào t’Iizebele? t’ie nañetake ondaty zato, mpitoki’ Iehovào ki-limampolo an-dakato ao vaho nifahanako mofo naho rano?
Hath it not been told unto my Lord what I did when Izebel slew the prophets of the Lord, how I hid a hundred men of the prophets of the Lord, fifty each in one cave, and provided them with bread and water?
14 Le ihe manao ty hoe: Akia, taroño i talè’oy ty hoe: Inao, atoy t’i Elià, hanjevoa’e ahy.
And now thou sayest, Go say to thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he will slay me.
15 Aa le hoe t’i Elià: Kanao veloñe t’Iehovà’ i Màro fijohañakoy, toe hiatrek’ aze iraho te anito.
Then said Elijah, As the Lord of hosts liveth, before whom I have stood, surely today will I show myself unto him.
16 Aa le niavotse t’i Obadià hifanalaka amy Akabe, le tinaro’e ama’e vaho nimb’eo t’i Akabe hifañaoñe amy Elià.
So 'Ohadiah went to meet Achab, and he told it to him; and Achab went to meet Elijah.
17 Ie nitendreke i Elià t’i Akabe, le hoe t’i Akabe ama’e: Ihe v’zao, ty mpitrobo Israele?
And it came to pass, when Achab saw Elijah, that Achab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
18 Le hoe ty natoi’e: Tsy izaho ty mitrobo Israele fa ihe naho ty anjomban-drae’o, kanao tsinambolitio’ areo o lili’ Iehovào vaho norihe’o o Baaleo.
And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, through your forsaking the commandments of the Lord, and because thou hast followed the Be'alim.
19 Akia, ampañitrifo, vaho atontono amako mb’etoa iaby t’Israele an-kaboa’ i Karmele ey naho i mpitokim-Baale efa-jato-tsi-limampolo rey, naho i mpitoki’ i Aserà efa-jato mpikama am-pandambaña’ Iizebele rey.
And now send, assemble unto me all Israel at Mount Carmel, and the prophets of Ba'al four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the grove four hundred, who eat at the table of Izebel.
20 Aa le nampañitrife’ i Akabe o ana’ Israele iabio vaho natonto’e an-kaboa’ i Karmele eo o mpitokio.
And Achab sent round among all the children of Israel, and he assembled the prophets at Mount Carmel.
21 Nitotofe’ i Elià ondatio, le nanoa’e ty hoe: Ampara’ te ombia ty mbe hifejofejo añivon-tsafiry roe? Naho Iehovà ro Andrianañahare, oriho, fa naho i Baale ka, le oriho. Tsy nahakofò-bolan-draike ondatio.
And Elijah approached unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between the two opinions? if the Lord be the God, follow him; and if Ba'al—follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
22 Le hoe t’i Elià am’ ondatio. Izaho le izaho avao ty mpitoky honka’ Iehovà; fe ondaty efa-jato-tsi-limampolo ty mpitoki’ i Baale.
And Elijah said unto the people, I have been left a prophet of the Lord by myself alone; but the prophets of Ba'al are four hundred and fifty men.
23 Aa le ampanoloro bania roe zahay, ho joboñe’ iereo ty a iareo, naho ho lilie’ iareo vaho hasampe amo hatae’eo, fa tsy hasiañ’ afo ty ambane’e ao; le izaho ka ty hikotepe ty bania ila’e naho hapoko ambone’ ty hatae vaho tsy hamiañako afo ty ambane’e ao.
Therefore let there be given unto us two bullocks; and let them choose for themselves the one bullock, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire to it: and I will prepare the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire to it.
24 Tokavo amy zay ty añaran-drahare’ areo, le ho kanjieko ty tahina’ Iehovà; vaho ze Andrianañahare manoiñe an’afo, Ie ro Andrianañahare. Hene nanoiñe ondatio nanao: Saontsy soa izay.
And do ye call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and it shall be that the God who answereth by fire, he shall be the [true] God. And all the people answered and said, The proposal is good.
25 Le hoe t’i Elià amo mpitoki’ i Baaleo: Joboño’ areo ty bania’ areo, le hajario heike, amy t’ie maro, le tokavo ty añaran-drahare’ areo, fe ko mamiañ’ afo.
And Elijah said unto the prophets of Ba'al, Choose you for yourselves the one bullock, and prepare it first; for ye are the many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire to it.
26 Aa le rinambe’ iareo ty bania natolotse naho hinajari’ iereo vaho tinoka’ iareo ty añara’ i Baale mifototse amy maraindraiñey pak’ an-tsipinde mena, ami’ty hoe: O Baale, toiño. Fe leo feo raike tsy nanoiñe. Nitsamboatsamboañe an-tsinjake iereo añariari’ i kitrely namboare’ iereoy.
And they took the bullock which he had given to them, and they prepared it; and they called on the name of Ba'al from morning even until noon, saying, O Ba'al, answer us; but there was no voice, nor any answer: and they danced about the altar which had been made.
27 Ie tsipinde-mena, le kiniza’ i Elià ami’ty hoe: Ipazapazaho, kanao ‘ndrahare, he tondren-dre, ke miamontoñe, he nifokofoko añe; ke miroro ho tsekafeñe.
And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked at them, and said, Call with a loud voice; for he is a god; either he is holding council, or he is busy in some pursuit, or he is on a journey; or peradventure he sleepeth, and may thus awaken.
28 Aa le pinoña’ iereo ty fipazake, naho nandili-vatañe ama-meso naho lefoñe an-tsata’ iareo am-para’ te nidoandoan-dio.
And they called with a loud voice and cut themselves after their custom with knives and spears, till the blood gushed out over them.
29 Ie añe i tsingilingilieñey, mbe nitoky avao iereo sikal’ amy fisoroñañe harivay, f’ie tsy amam-peo, tsy amam-panoiñe, tsy amam-pañaoñe.
And it came to pass, when midday was past, that they practised their follies until near [the time of] the offering of the evening-sacrifice; but there was neither voice, nor any answer, nor any perceptible sound.
30 Le hoe t’i Elià am’ ondatio. Miharinea; le nañarivoa’ ondatio, vaho namboare’e i kitreli’ Iehovà rinotsakey.
And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me: and all the people came near unto him; and he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down.
31 Nandrambe vato folo-ro’ amby t’i Elià ty ami’ty ia’ i fifokoan’ ana’ Iakobe rey; ie niheova’ ty tsara’ Iehovày nanao ty hoe: Israele ty ho tahina’o;
And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the Lord was come, saying, Israel shall be thy name.
32 le namboare’e kitrely amy vato rey ami’ty tahina’ Iehovà; le nihalie’e talahake niarikatoke i kitreliy, nahaatseke fañaranan-tabiry roe ty habei’e.
And he built of the stones an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench as great as would contain two seahs of seed round about the altar.
33 Hinajari’e amy zao ty hatae, naho rinasa’e i baniay vaho nampipoha’e ambone’ o hataeo eo,
And he put in order the wood, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid them on the wood,
34 le nanao ty hoe: Atsafo rano ty sajoa efatse vaho adoaño amo hisoroñañeo naho amo hataeo. Le hoe re, Ano fañindroe’e, le nanoe’ iereo fañindroe’e. Le hoe re: Ano fañintelo’e, vaho nanoe’ iareo fañintelo’e.
And he said. Fill four jars with water; and they had to pour it on the burnt-offering, and on the wood: and he said, Do it the second time: and they did it the second time: and he said, Do it the third time; and they did it the third time.
35 Aa le nikararak’ añ’ ariseho’ i kitreliy i ranoy, nañatsake i talahay an-drano.
And the water ran round about the altar; and the trench also he filled with water.
36 Ie amy fisoroñan-karivay le nañarine mb’eo t’i Elià mpitoky nanao ty hoe: Ry Iehovà Andrianañahare’ i Avrahame naho Ietsake vaho Israele, ampaharofoano anito te Ihe ro Andrianañahare e Israele ao naho te izaho ro mpitoro’o vaho amy tsara’oy ty nanoeko ze he’e zao.
And it came to pass, at [the time of] the offering of the evening-sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, O Lord, God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, this day let it be known that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that at thy word I have done all these things.
37 Janjiño iraho, ry Iehovà, janjiño, hahafohina’ ondaty retoañe te Ihe ro Iehovà Andrianañahare, mpampipoly ty arofo’ iareo.
Answer me, O Lord, answer me, and let all this people know that thou, O Lord, art the [true] God, and thou wilt [then] have turned their heart back again.
38 Nipozak’ eo amy zao ty afo’ Iehovà namorototo i engan-koroañey naho o hataeo naho o vatoo naho i debokey vaho nitsela ty rano an-kaly ao.
And there fell a fire of the Lord, and consumed the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust; and the water also that was in the trench did it lick up.
39 Ie nahaisake izay ondatio, le songa niankotrak’ an-dahara’e nanao ty hoe: Iehovà, ie ro Andrianañahare; Iehovà, ie ro Andrianañahare.
And when all the people saw this, they fell on their faces; and they said, the Lord—he is the God; the Lord—he is the God.
40 Le hoe t’i Elià am’ iereo: Vahoro o mpitoki’ i Baaleo; ko apo’ areo hienga ndra raike; le tsinepa’ iareo; nindese’ i Elià nizotso mb’amy Kidrone torahañe mb’eo vaho zinama’e.
And Elijah said unto them, Seize the prophets of Ba'al; not one of them must escape; and they seized them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slaughtered them there.
41 Le hoe t’i Elià amy Akabe: Mionjona, mikamà naho minoma; fa inao ty feon-oram-bey.
And Elijah said unto Achab, Go up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
42 Aa le nañambone ey t’i Akabe nikama naho nitohoke. Nanganike mb’an-kaboa’ i Karmele mb’eo ka t’i Elià le nibokoke mb’an-tane, ty lahara’e añivo’ o ongo’eo;
So Achab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down toward the earth, and put his face between his knees;
43 le hoe re amy mpitoro’ey, Mionjona, le mitalakesa mb’ an-driake eñe. Nionjom-beo re vaho nanao ty hoe: Tsy ama’e. Le hoe re: Mibaliha mb’eo im-pito.
And he said to his servant, Go up, I pray thee, look in the direction of the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, Not the least [is visible]. And he said, Go again, seven times.
44 Ie amy faha-fitoy, le hoe ty asa’e: Hehe ty rahoñe hoe lela-pità’ ondaty miakatse an-driake eñe. Le hoe re, Akia, ano ty hoe amy Akabe: Hentseño i sarete’oy le mizotsoa, soa tsy hanebañ’ azo i orañey.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there is a little cloud like a man's hand arising out of the sea. And he said, Go up, say unto Achab, Harness up [thy chariot], and come down, that the rain may not detain thee.
45 Ie amy zao nigobon-drahoñe naho tioke i likerañey vaho nikojojoake ty orañe. Aa le niningitse mb’e Iezreele mb’eo t’i Akabe.
And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heavens were blackened with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Achab rode, and went to Yizre'el.
46 Tamy Elià ty fità’ Iehovà, le nidian-tohake vaho nilay aolo’ i Akabe mb’eo pak’ am-pimoahañe e Iezreele añe.
And the inspiration of the Lord came over Elijah, and he girded up his loins; and he ran before Achab up to the entrance of Yizre'el.
