1 Nitroatse am’ Israele amy zao i mpañinjey nañosike i Davide hañiake Israele.
And Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
2 Le hoe t’i Davide am’ Ioabe naho amo mpiaolo’ ondatio; Akia volilio t’Israele boake Beer-Sevà pake Dane añe; vaho andeso amako ho isako. Fa hoe t’Ioabe:
And David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan, and bring me word that I may know the sum of them.
3 Ehe te hampitomboe’ Iehovà in-jato ty hamaro’e, f’ie tsy songa mpitoron-talèko hao ry talèko mpanjaka? ino ty paia’ i talèko o raha zao? Ino ty hampanaña’e hakeo Israele?
And Joab said, Jehovah make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?
4 Fe naharekets’ Ioabe ty saontsi’ i mpanjakay. Aa le niavotse t’Ioabe, nanitsike Israele vaho nimpoly mb’e Ierosalaime mb’eo.
Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5 Le natolo’ Ioabe amy Davide ty fitonto’ i famoliliañe ondatioy. Aa naho Israele iaby, le rai-tampetrisa-tsi-rai-hetse t’indaty nahafitsoa-pibara vaho am’Iehodà, efats-etse-tsi-fito-ale t’indaty nahafitsoa-pibara.
And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people to David. And all those of Israel were a million and a hundred thousand men who drew a sword. And Judah was four hundred seventy thousand men who drew a sword.
6 Fe tsy vinolily am’ iereo t’i Levý naho i Beniamine; amy te nampitorifike Ioabe ty saontsi’ i mpanjakay.
But he did not count Levi and Benjamin among them, for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
7 Nihejen’Añahare i raha zay; le linafa’e t’Israele.
And God was displeased with this thing, therefore he smote Israel.
8 Le hoe t’i Davide aman’ Añahare: aman-kakeo bey iraho, amy nanoeko i rahay; ehe apoho henaneo i tahim-pitoro’oy; amy te nanao hadagolàñe.
And David said to God, I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant, for I have done very foolishly.
9 Le nitsara amy Gade, mpitoki’ i Davide, t’Iehovà, nanao ty hoe:
And Jehovah spoke to Gad, David's seer, saying,
10 Akia saontsio amy Davide ty hoe: Hoe ty nafè’ Iehovà: Azotsoko ama’o ty raha telo, ijoboño ty hanoako.
Go and speak to David, saying, Thus says Jehovah, I offer thee three things. Choose thee one of them, that I may do it to thee.
11 Aa le nimb’ amy Davide mb’eo t’i Gade le nanoe’e ty hoe; Hoe ty nafè’ Iehovà: Joboño ze tea’o,
So Gad came to David, and said to him, Thus says Jehovah, Take which thou will:
12 ke t’ie ho san-kerè telo taoñe, ke ho fafàñe aolon-drafelahi’o telo volañe, ie manjomòts’ azo ty fibaran-drafelahi’o, he ho telo andro am-pibara’ Iehovà, rekets’ angorosy amy taney, ie tsitsife’ ty Anjeli’ Iehovà rotsake ty an-tane’ Israele. Aa le ereñereño henaneo ty vale’e hampoliko amy nañirak’ ahiy.
either three years of famine, or three months to be consumed before thy foes while the sword of thine enemies overtakes thee, or else three days the sword of Jehovah, even pestilence in the land, and the agent of Jehovah destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.
13 Le hoe t’i Davide amy Gade, Vata’e dobo iraho; apoho hikorovok’ am-pità’ Iehovà, amy te ra’elahy o fiferenaiña’eo; fa ko ado’o hivarinjonjok’ am-pità’ondaty.
And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait. Let me fall, I pray, into the hand of Jehovah, for his mercies are very great, and let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 Aa le nirahe’ Iehovà am’ Israele ty angorosy; le ondaty fito-ale ty nitsingoritrìtse.
So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel, and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 Nampihitrifen’ Añahare am’ Ierosalaime ty anjely handrotsake, aa ie ho nanjevo le najihe’ Iehovà; niferenaiña’e tsy hanao i hankàñey vaho nanoe’e ty hoe i anjely mpandrotsakey, Soa izay, agebaño henaneo ty fità’o. Le nijohañe marine’ ty tanem-pifofoha’ i Ornane nte-Iebosý eo i anjeli’ Iehovày.
And God sent an agent to Jerusalem to destroy it. And as he was about to destroy, Jehovah beheld, and he relented of the evil, and said to the destroying agent, It is enough. Now halt thy hand. And the agent of Jehovah was standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 Nampiandra fihaino amy zao t’i Davide le nioni’e nijohañe añivo’ ty tane toy naho i likerañey i anjeli’ Iehovày, ie natorakitsi’e ambone’ Ierosalaime eo ty fibara tsinoake am-pità’e. Nibabok’ an-daharañe amy zao t’i Davide naho o androanavi’ Israeleo songa nisikin-gony.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the agent of Jehovah standing between earth and heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
17 Le hoe t’i Davide aman’ Añahare, Tsy izaho hao ty nandily ty fañiahañe ondatio? Izaho avao ty nandilatse, nanao i haratiañey; fa o añondry retoañe, ino ty nanoe’ iareo? Ehe te ho amako naho añ’ anjomban-draeko ty fità’o ry Iehovà Andrianañahareko, fa tsy am’ondati’oo, hanjamañe iareo.
And David said to God, Is it not I who commanded the people to be numbered? Even I it is who have sinned and done very badly. But these sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand, I pray thee, O Jehovah my God, be against me, and against my father's house, but not against thy people, that they should be plagued.
18 Aa le nampisaontsie’ i anjeli’ Iehovày i Gade amy Davide, te hampitroare’ i Davide am’ Iehovà ty kitrely an-tanem-pamofoha’ i Ornane nte-Iebosý eo.
Then the agent of Jehovah commanded Gad to say to David that David should go up, and rear an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Le nionjomb’eo t’i Davide ty amy nitaroña’ i Gade ami’ty tahina’ Iehovày.
And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of Jehovah.
20 Ie nitolike t’i Ornane le nioni’e i anjeliy, le niharo nietake, ie naho ty ana-dahi’e efatse. Namofoke vare-bolè t’i Ornane henane zay.
And Ornan turned back, and saw the agent, and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
21 Ie nimb’e Ornane mb’eo t’i Davide, le niandra t’i Ornane, nahaisake i Davide, le niavotse mb’ an-tanem-pamofohañe mb’eo vaho nibokok’ amy Davide, ty lahara’e mb’an-tane.
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing-floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
22 Le hoe t’i Davide amy Ornane, Atoloro ahy ty toem-pamofohañe toy hañamboarako kitrely am’Iehovà; atoloro ahy ami’ty vili’e do’e, hampijihetse i angorosiy am’ ondatio.
Then David said to Ornan, Give me the place of this threshing-floor, that I may build thereon an altar to Jehovah. For the full price thou shall give it me, that the plague may be stopped from the people.
23 Le hoe t’i Ornane amy Davide, Endeso ho azo le hanoa’ i talèko mpanjakay ze soa am-pihaino’e. Ingo atoloko azo o añombeo ho soroñe naho o haraom-pamofohañeo ho hatae vaho o vare-bolèo ho enga mahakama; fonga itolorako.
And Ornan said to David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Lo, I give thee the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.
24 Le hoe t’i Davide mpanjaka amy Ornane, Aiy avao! tsy mete tsy vilieko ami’ty vili’e do’e, fa tsy ho rambeseko ho a Iehovà o azoo, ndra hañenga soroñe tsy amam-bily.
And king David said to Ornan, No, but I will truly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is thine for Jehovah, nor offer a burnt offering without cost.
25 Aa le natolo’ i Davide amy Ornane ho amy toetsey ty sekelem-bolamena enenjato ami’ty lanja’e
So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.
26 naho nandranjy kitrely am’ Iehovà eo t’i Davide le nañenga soroñe naho engam-panintsiñañe naho nikanjy Iehovà vaho natoi’e boak’ andikerañe ey, nampidoiñ’ afo ambone’ i kitrely fisoroñañey.
And David built there an altar to Jehovah, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon Jehovah. And he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
27 Ie linili’ Iehovà i anjeliy le naombe’e an-kotra’e ao i fibara’ey.
And Jehovah commanded the agent, and he put up his sword again into the sheath of it.
28 Nioni’ i Davide henane zay te nanoiñe aze an-toem-pamofoha’ i Ornane nte-Iebosý eo t’Iehovà le eo ty nañenga’e soroñe.
At that time, when David saw that Jehovah had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29 Amy te mbe an-toets’ abo’ i Gibone añe ty kivoho’ Iehovà niranjie’ i Mosè am-patrambey añe naho i kitrelim-pisoroñañey henane zay.
For the tabernacle of Jehovah, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
30 Fe tsy nete niatrek’ ama’e eo t’i Davide hañontane an’ Andrianañahare fa nampirevendreveñe aze i fibaran’ anjeli’ Iehovày.
But David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid because of the sword of the agent of Jehovah.
