1 Mampahatsiarova azy hanaiky izay manapaka sy manam-pahefana, hanoa tsara, ho vonona ho amin’ ny asa tsara rehetra,

Remind the believers to submit to rulers and authorities, to be obedient and ready for every good work,

2 tsy hiteny ratsy olona, tsy ho mpila ady, fa ho mpandefitra, maneho ny halemem-panahy rehetra amin’ ny olona rehetra.

to malign no one, and to be peaceable and gentle, showing full consideration to everyone.

3 Fa isika koa dia adala fahiny, tsy nanaiky, voafitaka, dia andevon’ ny filàna sy ny fahafinaretana maro, ary velona teo amin’ ny lolompo sy ny fialonana, sady hala no nifankahala.

For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, and enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures—living in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

4 Fa rehefa niseho ny fahamoram-panahin’ Andriamanitra, Mpamonjy antsika, sy ny fitiavany ny olona,

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,

He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

This is the Spirit He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

7 mba hohamarinina amin’ ny fahasoavany isika ka ho tonga mpandova araka ny fanantenana ny fiainana mandrakizay. (aiōnios g166)

so that, having been justified by His grace, we would become heirs with the hope of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

8 Mahatoky izany teny izany, ary izany zavatra izany dia tiako hitompoanao mafy, mba hotandreman’ izay efa mino an’ Andriamanitra ny hanao asa tsara. Sady tsara no mahasoa ny olona izany zavatra izany.

This saying is trustworthy. And I want you to emphasize these things, so that those who have believed God will take care to devote themselves to good deeds. These things are excellent and profitable for the people.

9 Fa halaviro ny fanontaniana adala sy ny tantaram-pirazanana sy ny fifandirana sy ny ady teny ny amin’ ny lalàna; fa tsy mahasoa sady zava-poana izany.

But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, arguments, and quarrels about the law, because these things are pointless and worthless.

10 Izay mpanao hevi-diso, rehefa nanarinao indray maka na indroa, dia ialao,

Reject a divisive man after a first and second admonition,

11 satria fantatrao fa voavadika izay manao izany ka sady manota no manamelo-tena koa.

knowing that such a man is corrupt and sinful; he is self-condemned.

12 Rehefa maniraka an’ i Artema ny Tykiko ho atỳ aminao aho, dia mazotoa hankany amiko any Nikopolia ianao, fa mikasa handany ny ririnina any aho.

As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there.

13 Mazotoa hamoaka an’ i Zena mpahay lalàna sy Apolosy, mba tsy hisy zavatra hilainy.

Do your best to equip Zenas the lawyer and Apollos, so that they will have everything they need.

14 Ary aoka ny antsika koa hianatra hanao asa tsara hahazoany izay ilainy, fandrao tsy hisy vokatra izy.

And our people must also learn to devote themselves to good works in order to meet the pressing needs of others, so that they will not be unfruitful.

15 Manao veloma anao izay rehetra atỳ amiko. Manaova veloma izay rehetra tia anay amin’ ny finoana. Ho aminareo rehetra anie ny fahasoavana.
