Rota 4

1 Ary rehefa tafakatra teo am-bavahady Boaza ka nipetraka teo, dia, indro, nandalo ilay havana mahavotra voalazany, dia hoy Boaza: Ranona iry ô! maitia kely ange; mipetraha eto. Dia nanatona izy ka nipetraka.

But Bo'az went up to the gate, and sat down there; and, behold, the kinsman of whom Bo'az had spoken came passing by; and he said unto him, Turn aside hither, sit down here, such a one. And he turned aside, and sat down.

2 Dia naka folo lahy tamin’ ny loholona tao an-tanàna Boaza ka nanao hoe: Mipetraha eto ianareo. Dia nipetraka ireo.

And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

3 Dia niteny tamin’ Ilay havana akaiky izy ka nanao hoe: Naomy, izay niverina avy tany amin’ ny tany Moaba, dia mivarotra ny tany izay an’ i Elimeleka rahalahintsika.

And he said unto the kinsman, Na'omi, that is returned out of the field of Moab, hath to sell a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's.

4 Ary izaho nikasa hampandre anao hoe: Vidio eto anatrehan’ izay mipetraka eto sy eto anatrehan’ ny loholona amin’ ny fireneko izany. Raha hanavotra ianao, dia avoty; fa raha tàhiny tsy hanavotra ianao, dia lazao amiko mba ho fantatro; fa tsy misy tokony hanavotra afa-tsy ianao, ary izaho no manarakaraka anao. Ary hoy izy: Hanavotra ihany aho.

And I thought to inform thee of it, saying, Buy it before those sitting here, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it; but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know; for there is none beside thee to redeem it, and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

5 Dia hoy Boaza: Amin’ izay andro ividiananao ny tany amin’ ny tànan’ i Naomy, dia amin’ i Rota koa, vehivavy Moabita, vadin’ ny maty, no hividiananao azy, mba hamelo-maso ny anaran’ ny maty ao amin’ ny lovany ianao.

Then said Bo'az, On the day that thou buyest the field out of the hand of Na'omi, thou buyest it also from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

6 Fa hoy ilay havana mahavotra: Tsia, tsy mahazo manavotra ho an’ ny tenako aho, fandrao mahasimba ny lovako; avoty ihany ho anao ny ahy, fa tsy mahavotra aho.

And the kinsman said, I am not able to redeem it for myself, lest I injure my own inheritance: redeem thou what I should redeem for thyself; for I am not able to redeem it.

7 Ary ny amin’ ny fanavotana sy ny fanakalozana teo amin’ ny Isiraely fahiny hahamafy ny teny rehetra dia izao: nesorin’ ny lehilahy ny kirarony ka nomeny ho an’ ny namany; dia vavolombelona teo amin’ ny Isiraely izany.

Now this was formerly the custom in Israel at a redeeming and at an exchanging, to confirm any thing, that a man pulled off his shoe, and gave it to the other; and this was the manner of testimony in Israel.

8 Ary hoy ilay havana mahavotra tamin’ i Boaza: Vidio ho anao izany. Dia nanaisotra ny kirarony izy.

Thereupon said the kinsman unto Bo'az, Buy it for thee. And he pulled off his shoe.

9 Ary hoy Boaza tamin’ ny loholona sy ny vahoaka rehetra: Hianareo no vavolombelona androany fa efa novidiko tamin’ ny tànan’ i Naomy izay rehetra an’ i Elimeleka sy izay rehetra an’ i Kiliona sy Malona.

And Bo'az said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that belonged to Elimelech, and all that belonged to Kilyon and Machlon, out of the hand of Na'omi.

10 Ary Rota koa, vehivavy Moabita, vadin’ i Malona, dia lasako ho vadiko hamelo-maso ny anaran’ ny maty ao amin’ ny lovany, mba tsy ho faty maso ny anaran’ ny maty eo amin’ ny rahalahiny sy eo amin’ ny vavahadin’ ny fonenany; ianareo no vavolombelona androany.

And also Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Machlon, have I obtained for myself as my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

11 Dia hoy ny vahoaka rehetra izay teo amin’ ny vavahady sy ny loholona: Eny, vavolombelona izahay; hataon’ i Jehovah tahaka an’ i Rahely sy tahaka an’ i Lea anie izay vehivavy efa ho tonga ao an-tranonao; fa izy roa vavy no nanangana ny tranon’ ny Isiraely; ary aoka ho lehibe any Efrata anie ianao, ary halaza any Betlehema anie ny anaranao;

And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, [We are] witnesses. The Lord grant that the woman that is coming into thy house be like Rachel and like Leah, who did both build up the house of Israel: and acquire thou wealth in Ephrathah, and let thy name become famous in Beth-lechem;

12 ary ho tahaka ny taranak’ i Fareza, izay naterak’ i Tamara tamin’ i Joda, anie ny taranakao avy amin’ ny zanaka izay homen’ i Jehovah anao amin’ ity vehivavy ity.

And may thy house be like the house of Perez, whom Thamar bore unto Judah, through the seed which the Lord will give thee of this young woman.

13 Ary Boaza dia nampakatra an’ i Rota ka nanambady azy; ary Jehovah nampanan’ anaka azy, ka niteraka zazalahy izy.

And Bo'az took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in unto her: and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son.

14 Ary hoy ireo vehivavy tamin’ i Naomy: Isaorana anie Jehovah, Izay tsy namela anao androany tsy hanan-kavana mahavotra, ary aoka halaza ny anarany eo amin’ ny Isiraely.

And the women said unto Na'omi, Blessed be the Lord, who hath not allowed to be wanting unto thee a kinsman this day: and may his name become famous in Israel.

15 Dia hamelona ny ainao sy hitaiza anao izy, rehefa antitra ianao; fa niteraka azy ny vinantonaovavy, izay tia anao, ilay tsara lavitra aminao mihoatra noho ny zanaka fito lahy.

And may he be unto thee one who refresheth thy soul, and who nourisheth thy old age; for thy daughter-in-law, who loveth thee, hath born him, she who is better to thee than seven sons.

16 Dia nandray ny zaza Naomy ka nitrotro azy, dia tonga mpitaiza azy.

And Na'omi took the child, and laid it in her lap, and she became a nurse unto it.

17 Ary ny vehivavy namany nifidy ny anarany ka nanao hoe: Misy zazalahy teraka ho an’ i Naomy; ary ny anarany nataony hoe Obeda; izy no rain’ i Jese, rain’ i Davida.

And the neighboring women gave him a name, saying, There hath been a son born unto Na'omi: and they called his name 'Obed, who is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18 Ary izao no taranak’ i Fareza: Fareza niteraka an’ i Hezrona;

And these are the generations of Perez: Perez begat Chezron;

19 ary Hezrona niteraka an’ i Rama; ary Rama niteraka an’ i Aminadaba;

And Chezron begat Ram; and Ram begat 'Amminadab;

20 ary Aminadaba niteraka an’ i Nasona; ary Nasona niteraka an’ i Salmona;

And 'Amminadab begat Nachshon; and Nachshon begat Salmah;

21 ary Salmona niteraka an’ i Boaza; ary Boaza niteraka an’ i Obeda;

And Salmon begat Bo'az; and Bo'az begat 'Obed;

22 ary Obeda niteraka an’ i Jese; ary Jese niteraka an’ i Davida.

And 'Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
