Salamo 39
1 Ho an’ ny mpiventy hira. Ho an’ i Jedotona Salamo nataon’ i Davida. Hoy izaho: hitandrina ny lalako aho ka tsy hanota amin’ ny lelako; hasiako fehim-bava ny vavako, raha mbola eo anatrehako ny ratsy fanahy.
To the Chief Musician. For Jeduthun. A Melody of David. I said, [to myself, ] I will take heed to my ways, That I sin not with my tongue, —I will put on my mouth a muzzle, So long as the lawless is before me.
2 Nangina mihitsy aho, namihim-bava ka tsy nilaza na dia ny tsara aza, dia nihetsika mafy ny fanaintainan’ ny aretiko.
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, afar from happiness, But, my pain had been stirred:
3 Nafana ny foko tato anatiko; raha nieritreritra aho, dia nisy afo nirehitra, ka niteny tamin’ ny lelako aho.
Hot was my heart within me, While I was musing, there was kindled a fire, I spake with my tongue!
4 Jehovah ô, ampahafantaro ny farako aho sy izay ohatry ny androko; aoka ho fantatro fa olon-kandalo aho.
Let me know, O Yahweh, mine end, And the measure of my days—what it is, I would know how short-lived I am.
5 Indro efa nataonao vodivoam-pelatanana ny androko, ary ny fiainako toy ny tsinontsinona eo anatrehanao. Zava-poana ihany tokoa ny olon-drehetra, na dia matanjaka aza. (Sela)
Lo! as hand-breadths, hast thou granted my days, and my life-time, is as nothing before thee, —Surely, a mere breath, are all men, [even] such as stand firm. (Selah)
6 Aloka tokoa no fandehandehan’ ny olona; zava-poana tokoa no itabatabàny; mihary harena izy nefa tsy fantany izay ho tompon’ izany.
Surely as a shadow, doth every man wander, Surely in vain, do they bustle about, he heapeth things up, and knoweth not who shall gather them in.
7 Ary ankehitriny, inona no andrasako Tompo ô? Hianao no antenaiko.
Now, therefore, for what have I waited, O My Lord? My hope, is, in thee.
8 Manafaha ahy amin’ ny fahadisoako rehetra; aza manao ahy ho fanakoran’ ny adala.
From all my transgressions, rescue thou me, —The reproach of the base, oh do not make me!
9 Mangìna aho ka tsy miloa-bava fa ianao no nanao izao.
I am dumb, I cannot open my mouth, for, thou, hast done it.
10 Aoka hitsahatra ny fikapohanao ahy; reraka aho azon’ ny famelin’ ny tananao.
Remove from off me thy stroke, Because of the hostility of thy hand, am, I, consumed.
11 Anatra noho ny fahadisoany no ananaranao ny olona, ka manimba ny hatsaran-tarehiny tahaka ny kalalao ianao; zava-poana tokoa ny olona rehetra. (Sela)
When, by rebukes for iniquity, thou hast corrected a man, Then hast thou consumed, as a moth, all that was delightful within him, Surely, a breath, are all men. (Selah)
12 Mandrenesa ny fivavako Jehovah ô, ary mihainoa ny fitarainako; aza mangìna amin’ ny ranomasoko fa vahiny aminao aho sy mpivahiny tahaka ny razako rehetra.
Hear my prayer, O Yahweh, And, unto my cry for help, give ear, At my tears, do not be silent, —For, a sojourner, am, I, with thee, A stranger, like all my fathers.
13 Aza atrehinao aho aloha, dia ho miramirana indray, dieny aho tsy mbola lasa ka tsy ho eto intsony.
Look away from me that I may brighten up, Ere yet I depart and am no more.
