< Ohabolana 5 >
1 Anaka, tandremo ny fahendreko, Ary atongilano ny sofinao ho amin’ ny fahalalako,
[My] son, attend to my wisdom, and apply thine ear to my words;
2 Hiheveranao tsara ny fisainana mazava Sy hitandreman’ ny molotrao ny fahalalana.
that thou mayest keep good understanding, and the discretion of my lips gives thee a charge. Give no heed to a worthless woman;
3 Fa ny molotry ny vehivavy jejo dia mitete toy ny tantely avy amin’ ny tohotra, Ary ny vavany dia malama noho ny diloilo;
for honey drops from the lips of a harlot, who for a season pleases thy palate:
4 Nefa ny farany mangidy tahaka ny hazo mahafaty Ary maranitra hoatra ny sabatra roa lela.
but afterwards thou wilt find her more bitter than gall, and sharper than a two-edged sword.
5 Ny tongony midìna ho any amin’ ny fahafatesana, Ary ny diany mizotra ho any amin’ ny fiainan-tsi-hita. (Sheol )
For the feet of folly lead those who deal with her down to the grave with death; and her steps are not established. (Sheol )
6 Tsy mahazo mandia ny lalan’ aina mihitsy izy, Fa manjenjena, ka tsy fantany akory izay halehany.
For she goes not upon the paths of life; but her ways are slippery, and not easily known.
7 Koa mihainoa ahy, ry zanaka, Ary aza miala amin’ ny teny aloaky ny vavako.
Now then, [my] son, hear me, and make not my words of none effect.
8 Ampanalaviro azy ny alehanao, Ary aza manakaiky ny varavaran’ ny tranony;
Remove thy way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house:
9 Fandrao omenao ho an’ ny sasany ny voninahitrao, Ary ny taonanao ho an’ izay lozabe;
lest thou give away thy life to others, and thy substance to the merciless:
10 Fandrao hivokisan’ ny vahiny ny fanananao; Ary izay nisasaranao ho tonga ao an-tranon’ ny vahiny;
lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours come into the houses of strangers;
11 Ka dia hitoloko ianao any am-parany, Raha mihalevona ny nofonao sy ny tenanao;
And thou repent at last, when the flesh of thy body is consumed,
12 Dia hanao hoe ianao: Nahoana re no nankahala famaizana aho? Ary nahoana no naniratsira fanaranana ny foko,
and thou shalt say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart avoided reproofs!
13 Ka tsy nihaino ny tenin’ ny mpanoro hevitra ahy, Ary tsy nanongilana ny sofiko hihaino ny mpampianatra ahy?
I heard not the voice of him that instructed me, and taught me, neither did I apply mine ear.
14 Efa saiky azon’ ny ratsy rehetra aho Tao amin’ ny fiangonana sy ny fivoriana.
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Misotroa rano avy amin’ ny lavaka famorian-dranonao ihany Sy rano miboiboika avy amin’ ny fantsakanao.
Drink waters out of thine own vessels, and out of thine own springing wells.
16 Hipasaka eny ivelany va ny rano avy amin’ ny loharanonao, Ary eny an-dalambe ny rano velonao?
Let not waters out of thy fountain be spilt by thee, but let thy waters go into thy streets.
17 Aoka ho anao irery ihany izany, Fa aza iombonana amin’ ny hafa.
Let them be only thine own, and let no stranger partake with thee.
18 Aoka hotahina ny loharanonao, Ary mifalia amin’ ny vadin’ ny fahatanoranao.
Let thy fountain of water be [truly] thine own; and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Fa dieravavy mahate-ho-tia sy osi-dia tsara bika izy, Dia aoka ny tratrany no hahafeno fifaliana anao mandrakariva, Ary aoka ho feno faharavoravoana lalandava amin’ ny fitiavany ianao.
Let [thy] loving hart and thy graceful colt company with thee, and let her be considered thine own, and be with thee at all times; for ravished with her love thou shalt be greatly increased.
20 Nahoana ianao, anaka, no ho renoka amin’ ny fitiavana vehivavy jejo Ka hanohona ny tratran’ ny vahiny janga?
Be not intimate with a strange woman, neither fold thyself in the arms of a woman not thine own.
21 Fa eo imason’ i Jehovah ny alehan’ ny olona, Ary ny diany rehetra dia dinihiny avokoa.
For the ways of a man are before the eyes of God, and he looks on all his paths.
22 Ny heloky ny ratsy fanahy dia mahazo ny tenany ihany, Ary ny kofehin’ ny fahotany no itanana azy
Iniquities ensnare a man, and every one is bound in the chains of his own sins.
23 Maty noho ny tsi-fahazoany famaizana izy, Eny, mikorapaka noho ny haben’ ny fahadalany.
Such a man dies with the uninstructed; and he is cast forth from the abundance of his own substance, and has perished through folly.
