< Ohabolana 29 >
1 Izay olona anarina matetika ka mihamafy hatoka Dia ho torotoro tampoka, ka tsy hisy fahasitranana.
A reprover is better than a stiff-necked man: for when the latter is suddenly set on fire, there shall be no remedy.
2 Raha mihamaro ny marina, dia faly ny vahoaka; Fa raha ny ratsy fanahy no manapaka, dia misento kosa izy.
When the righteous are praised, the people will rejoice: but when the ungodly rule, men mourn.
3 Izay tia fahendrena no mahafaly ny rainy; Fa izay misakaiza amin’ ny vehivavy janga dia mandany harena.
When a man loves wisdom, his father rejoices: but he that keeps harlots will waste wealth.
4 Ny rariny no ampandrian’ ny mpanjaka ny tany; Fa izay mandray tambitamby no mandrava azy kosa.
A righteous king establishes a country: but a transgressor destroys [it].
5 Izay olona mandrobo ny namany Dia mamela-pandrika ny tongony.
He that prepares a net in the way of his own friend, entangles his own feet in it.
6 Misy fandrika amin’ ny heloky ny olon-dratsy; Fa ny marina mihoby sy mifaly.
A great snare [is spread] for a sinner: but the righteous shall be in joy and gladness.
7 Ny marina mihevitra ny adin’ ny malahelo; Fa ny ratsy fanahy tsy hahalala fahendrena.
A righteous man knows how to judge for the poor: but the ungodly understands not knowledge; and the poor man has not an understanding mind.
8 Ny mpaniratsira mampihotakotaka ny tanàna; Fa ny hendry mampionona fahatezerana.
Lawless men burn down a city: but wise men turn away wrath.
9 Raha iadian’ ny hendry ny adala, Dia tezitra sy mihomehy izy, ka tsy hisy fitsaharana.
A wise man shall judge nations: but a worthless man being angry laughs and fears not.
10 Ny olona mpandatsa-drà mankahala ny tsy misy tsiny; Fa ny mahitsy kosa miahy ny ainy.
Bloody men hate a holy [person], but the upright will seek his soul.
11 Ny fahatezeran’ ny adala dia avoakany avokoa; Fa ny hendry kosa manindry fo.
A fool utters all is mind: but the wise reserves his in part.
12 Raha mihaino lainga ny mpanapaka, Dia ho ratsy fanahy ny mpanompony rehetra.
When a king hearkens to unjust language, all his subjects are transgressors.
13 Mihaona ny malahelo sy ny mpampahory; Jehovah no manazava ny mason’ izy roa tonta.
When the creditor and debtor meet together, the Lord oversees them both.
14 Izay mpanjaka mitsara marina ny malahelo, Dia haharitra mandrakizay ny seza fiandrianany.
When a king judges the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for a testimony.
15 Ny tsorakazo sy ny anatra no manome fahendrena; Fa ny zaza aranana mampahamenatra ny reniny.
Stripes and reproofs give wisdom: but an erring child disgraces his parents.
16 Raha maro ny ratsy fanahy, dia mitombo ny ota; Fa ny marina ho faly mahita ny fahalavoany.
When the ungodly abound, sins abound: but when they fall, the righteous are warned.
17 Faizo ny zanakao, dia ho famelombelomana ny fonao izy Sy ho fifalian’ ny fanahinao.
Chasten your son, and he shall give you rest; and he shall give honour to your soul.
18 Raha tsy misy fahitana, dia atondraka hanaram-po amin’ izay tsy mety ny olona; Fa raha mitandrina ny lalàna kosa izy, dia sambatra.
There shall be no interpreter to a sinful nation: but he that observes the law is blessed.
19 Raha teny fotsiny ihany, dia tsy ampy hananarana ny mpanompo; Fa na dia fantany aza, tsy hankatoaviny.
A stubborn servant will not be reproved by words: for even if he understands, still he will not obey.
20 Hitanao va ny olona faingam-bava? Ny adala aza misy hantenaina kokoa noho izy.
If you see a man hasty in [his] words, know that the fool has hope rather than he.
21 Ny mpanompo izay nampihantaina hatry ny fony mbola kely Dia hihambo ho zanaka any am-parany.
He that lives wantonly from a child, shall be a servant, and in the end shall grieve over himself.
22 Ny olona mora tezitra manetsika ady; Ary ny olona masiaka dia be fahadisoana.
A furious man stirs up strife, and a passionate man digs up sin.
23 Ny fiavonavonan’ ny olona no hampietry azy; Fa hahazo voninahitra kosa ny manetry tena.
Pride brings a man low, but the Lord upholds the humble-minded with honour.
24 Izay miray tetika amin’ ny mpangalatra dia manary tena; Mandre ny fampianianana izy, nefa tsy mety milaza.
He that shares with a thief, hates his own soul: and if any having heard an oath uttered tell not of it,
25 Mamandrika ny tahotra olona; Fa izay matoky an’ i Jehovah no hovonjena.
[they] fearing and reverencing men [unreasonably] have been overthrown, but he that trusts in the Lord shall rejoice. Ungodliness causes a man to stumble: but he that trusts in his master shall be safe.
26 Maro no mila sitraka amin’ ny mpanapaka; Fa avy amin’ i Jehovah ny fitsarana ny olona.
Many wait on the favour of rulers; but justice comes to a man from the Lord.
27 Ny meloka dia fahavetavetana eo imason’ ny marina; Ary ny mahitsy lalana dia mba fahavetavetana eo imason’ ny ratsy fanahy kosa.
A righteous man is an abomination to an unrighteous man, and the direct way is an abomination to the sinner.
