< Ohabolana 21 >
1 Rano velona eo an-tànan’ i Jehovah ny fon’ ny mpanjaka, Ka tarihiny amin’ izay tiany.
The king's heart in the hands of the Lord is like the water streams, and by him it is turned in any direction at his pleasure.
2 Ataon’ ny olona ho marina avokoa ny lalana rehetra alehany; Fa Jehovah ihany no Mpandanja ny fo.
Every way of a man seems right to himself, but the Lord is the tester of hearts.
3 Ny hanao izay marina sy mahitsy No sitrak’ i Jehovah mihoatra noho ny fanatitra alatsa-drà.
To do what is right and true is more pleasing to the Lord than an offering.
4 Ny fiandranandran’ ny maso sy ny fiavonavon’ ny fo Izay jiron’ ny ratsy fanahy dia ota.
A high look and a heart of pride, of the evil-doer is sin.
5 Ny hevitry ny mazoto dia mampanan-karena; Fa ny maimaika rehetra dia halahelo ihany.
The purposes of the man of industry have their outcome only in wealth; but one who is over-quick in acting will only come to be in need.
6 Ny fahazoan-karena amin’ ny lela mandainga Dia fofonaina mihelina ho an’ izay mitady fahafatesana.
He who gets stores of wealth by a false tongue, is going after what is only breath, and searching for death.
7 Ny fitohatohan’ ny ratsy fanahy hamongotra azy, Satria mandà tsy hanao izay marina izy.
By their violent acts the evil-doers will be pulled away, because they have no desire to do what is right.
8 Miolikolika ny lalan’ ny mavesa-keloka; Fa mahitsy ny ataon’ ny madio.
Twisted is the way of him who is full of crime; but as for him whose heart is clean, his work is upright.
9 Aleo mitoetra eo an-joron’ ny tampon-trano Toy izay hiray trano amin’ ny vehivavy tia ady.
It is better to be living in an angle of the house-top, than with a bitter-tongued woman in a wide house.
10 Ny fanahin’ ny ratsy fanahy maniry ny ratsy, Ka na dia ny havany aza tsy mahita fitia eo imasony.
The desire of the evil-doer is fixed on evil: he has no kind feeling for his neighbour.
11 Raha ampijalina ny mpaniratsira, dia ho hendry ny kely saina; Ary raha toroan-kevitra ny hendry, dia hahazo fahalalana izy.
When the man of pride undergoes punishment, the simple man gets wisdom; and by watching the wise he gets knowledge.
12 Ny Iray Marina no mandinika ny tranon’ ny ratsy fanahy Ka mamarina azy ho amin’ ny loza.
The Upright One, looking on the house of the evil-doer, lets sinners be overturned to their destruction.
13 Izay manentsin-tadiny amin’ ny fitarainan’ ny malahelo, Dia mba hitaraina kosa izy, fa tsy hohenoina.
He whose ears are stopped at the cry of the poor, will himself get no answer to his cry for help.
14 Ny fanomezana mangingina mampionona ny fahatezerana, Ary ny kolikoly amin’ ny takona mampitsahatra ny fahavinirana mafy.
By a secret offering wrath is turned away, and the heat of angry feelings by money in the folds of the robe.
15 Fifalian’ ny marina ny hanao araka ny rariny; Fa zava-mahatahotra ny mpanao ratsy kosa izany.
It is a joy to the good man to do right, but it is destruction to the workers of evil.
16 Ny olona izay mivily miala amin’ ny lalan’ ny fahendrena Dia hitoetra ao amin’ ny fivorian’ ny fanahin’ ny maty.
The wanderer from the way of knowledge will have his resting-place among the shades.
17 Izay tia fanaranam-po dia olona halahelo, Eny, izay tia divay sy diloilo tsy mba hanan-karena.
The lover of pleasure will be a poor man: the lover of wine and oil will not get wealth.
18 Ny ratsy fanahy dia ho avotry ny marina, Ary ny mpivadika ho solon’ ny mahitsy.
The evil-doer will be given as a price for the life of the good man, and the worker of deceit in the place of the upright.
19 Aleo mitoetra any an-efitra Toy izay amin’ ny vehivavy tia ady sady foizina.
It is better to be living in a waste land, than with a bitter-tongued and angry woman.
20 Harena mahafinaritra sy diloilo no ao amin’ ny tranon’ ny hendry; Fa ny adala mandany azy.
There is a store of great value in the house of the wise, but it is wasted by the foolish man.
21 Izay fatra-panaraka fahamarinana sy famindram-po Dia hahazo fiainana sy fahamarinana ary voninahitra.
He who goes after righteousness and mercy will get life, righteousness, and honour.
22 Ny hendry mananika ny vohitry ny mahery Ka mandrodana ny fiarovana mafy izay itokiany.
A wise man goes up into the town of the strong ones, and overcomes its strength in which they put their faith.
23 Izay miambina ny vavany sy ny lelany Dia miaro ny fanahiny tsy ho azom-pahoriana.
He who keeps watch over his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.
24 Izay mirehareha sy miavonavona no atao hoe mpaniratsira, Dia izay olona fatra-piavonavona.
The man of pride, lifted up in soul, is named high-hearted; he is acting in an outburst of pride.
25 Ny fanirian’ ny malaina hahafaty azy, Satria ny tànany tsy mety miasa tsinona;
The desire of the hater of work is death to him, for his hands will do no work.
26 Maniry fatratra mandritra ny andro izy; Fa ny marina kosa manome ka tsy mba mahihitra.
All the day the sinner goes after his desire: but the upright man gives freely, keeping nothing back.
27 Ny fanatitry ny ratsy fanahy dia fahavetavetana, Ka indrindra raha amin’ ny sain-dratsy no itondrany azy.
The offering of evil-doers is disgusting: how much more when they give it with an evil purpose!
28 Ho faty ny vavolombelona mandainga; Fa izay mihaino dia hiteny mandrakariva.
A false witness will be cut off, ...
29 Ny ratsy fanahy mampiseho ny fahasahisahiany amin’ ny tarehiny; Fa ny marina kosa dia mihevitra izay halehany.
The evil-doer makes his face hard, but as for the upright, he gives thought to his way.
30 Tsy misy fahendrena, na fahalalana, Na fisainana mahaleo an’ i Jehovah.
Wisdom and knowledge and wise suggestions are of no use against the Lord.
31 Voaomana ny soavaly ho amin’ ny andro iadiana; Fa an’ i Jehovah ihany ny fandresena.
The horse is made ready for the day of war, but power to overcome is from the Lord.
