1 Ny famaliana mora dia mampianina ny fahatezerana mafy; Fa ny teny maharary mahatonga fahasosorana.
By a soft answer wrath is turned away, but a bitter word is a cause of angry feelings.
2 Ny lelan’ ny hendry mampiseho fahalalana tsara; Fa ny vavan’ ny adala miboiboika fahadalana.
Knowledge is dropping from the tongue of the wise; but from the mouth of the foolish comes a stream of foolish words.
3 Ny mason’ i Jehovah amin’ izao rehetra izao, Mijery ny ratsy fanahy sy ny tsara fanahy.
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
4 Ny teny malemy dia hazon’ aina; Fa ny vava ratsy mandratra ny fanahy.
A comforting tongue is a tree of life, but a twisted tongue is a crushing of the spirit.
5 Ny adala maniratsira ny famaizan-drainy; Fa izay mitandrina ny fananarana no hita ho hendry.
A foolish man puts no value on his father's training; but he who has respect for teaching has good sense.
6 Ao an-tranon’ ny marina misy harena be; Fa ny fitomboan’ ny haren’ ny ratsy fanahy dia misy loza.
In the house of the upright man there is a great store of wealth; but in the profits of the sinner there is trouble.
7 Ny molotry ny hendry mampiely fahendrena; Fa tsy mba toy izany ny fon’ ny adala.
The lips of the wise keep knowledge, but the heart of the foolish man is not right.
8 Ny fanatitry ny ratsy fanahy dia fahavetavetana eo imason’ i Jehovah; Fa ny fivavaky ny marina no sitrany.
The offering of the evil-doer is disgusting to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright man is his delight.
9 Fahavetavetana eo imason’ i Jehovah ny lalan’ ny ratsy fanahy; Fa izay fatra-panaraka ny fahamarinana no tiany.
The way of the evil-doer is disgusting to the Lord, but he who goes after righteousness is dear to him.
10 Famaizana mafy no hihatra amin’ izay mivily lalana. Eny, izay mankahala anatra dia ho faty.
There is bitter punishment for him who is turned from the way; and death will be the fate of the hater of teaching.
11 Ny fiainan-tsi-hita sy ny fandringanana aza dia miharihary eo anatrehan’ i Jehovah, Koa mainka ny fon’ ny zanak’ olombelona! (Sheol h7585)
Before the Lord are the underworld and destruction: how much more, then, the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Tsy tian’ ny mpaniratsira izay mananatra azy, Ary tsy mety manatona ny hendry izy.
The hater of authority has no love for teaching: he will not go to the wise.
13 Ny fo ravoravo mahamiramirana ny tarehy; Fa ny alahelon’ ny fo mahareraka ny fanahy.
A glad heart makes a shining face, but by the sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14 Ny fon’ ny manan-tsaina mitady fahendrena; Fa ny vavan’ ny adala mankamamy ny fahadalana.
The heart of the man of good sense goes in search of knowledge, but foolish things are the food of the unwise.
15 Ratsy avokoa ny andron’ ny ory; Fa ny faharavoravoam-po dia fanasana mandrakariva.
All the days of the troubled are evil; but he whose heart is glad has an unending feast.
16 Aleo ny kely misy ny fahatahorana an’ i Jehovah Toy izay harena be misy ahiahy.
Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great wealth together with trouble.
17 Aleo sakafo anana ampian-tsetsetra Toy izay omby mifahy asian-dromoromo.
Better is a simple meal where love is, than a fat ox and hate with it.
18 Izay malaky tezitra manetsika ady; Fa izay mahatsindry fo mampitsahatra fifandirana.
An angry man makes men come to blows, but he who is slow to get angry puts an end to fighting.
19 Ny lalan’ ny malaina dia toy ny fefy tsilo Fa ny lalamben’ ny marina dia voalamina tsara.
Thorns are round the way of the hater of work; but the road of the hard worker becomes a highway.
20 Ny zanaka hendry mahafaly ny rainy; Fa ny adala manao tsinontsinona an-dreniny.
A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish man has no respect for his mother.
21 Ny fahadalana dia fifalian’ ny tsy ampy saina; Fa ny manan-tsaina kosa mizotra mahitsy
Foolish behaviour is joy to the unwise; but a man of good sense makes his way straight.
22 Ho foana ny fikasana, raha tsy misy mpisaina; Fa raha maro ny mpanolo-tsaina, dia tanteraka izany.
Where there are no wise suggestions, purposes come to nothing; but by a number of wise guides they are made certain.
23 Faly ny olona, raha mahavaly tsara ny vavany, Ary endrey ny hatsaran’ ny teny atao amin’ izay andro mahamety azy!
A man has joy in the answer of his mouth: and a word at the right time, how good it is!
24 Làlan’ aina ho any ambony no alehan’ ny hendry, Hanalavirany ny fiainan-tsi-hita any ambany, (Sheol h7585)
Acting wisely is the way of life, guiding a man away from the underworld. (Sheol h7585)
25 Ravan’ i Jehovah ny tranon’ ny mpiavonavona; Fa ny fari-tanin’ ny mpitondra-tena aoriny mafy.
The house of the man of pride will be uprooted by the Lord, but he will make safe the heritage of the widow.
26 Fahavetavetana eo imason’ i Jehovah ny hevi-dratsy; Fa madio ny teny mahafinaritra.
Evil designs are disgusting to the Lord, but the words of the clean-hearted are pleasing.
27 Izay fatra-pila harena dia mampidi-doza amin’ ny ankohonany; Fa izay mankahala kolikoly no ho velona.
He whose desires are fixed on profit is a cause of trouble to his family; but he who has no desire for offerings will have life.
28 Ny fon’ ny marina mihevitra vao mamaly; Fa ny vavan’ ny ratsy fanahy kosa miboiboika faharatsiana.
The heart of the upright gives thought to his answer; but from the mouth of the evil-doer comes a stream of evil things.
29 Jehovah dia lavitra ny ratsy fanahy; Fa ny fivavaky ny marina no henoiny.
The Lord is far from sinners, but his ear is open to the prayer of the upright.
30 Ny tarehy miramirana mahafaly ny fo; Ary ny filazan-tsoa mamelombelona ny taolana.
The light of the eyes is a joy to the heart, and good news makes the bones fat.
31 Ny sofina izay mihaino anatra mahavelona Dia miara-mitoetra amin’ ny hendry.
The man whose ear is open to the teaching of life will have his place among the wise.
32 Izay mandà anatra dia manary tena; Fa izay mihaino ny fananarana no mahazo fahalalana.
He who will not be controlled by training has no respect for his soul, but he who gives ear to teaching will get wisdom.
33 Ny fahatahorana an’ i Jehovah dia fananarana mampahahendry; Ary ny fanetren-tena mialoha ny fisandratana.
The fear of the Lord is the teaching of wisdom; and a low opinion of oneself goes before honour.
