1 Ny mizana mandainga dia fahavetavetana eo imason’ i Jehovah; Fa ny vato marina no ankasitrahany.
A false balance is an abomination to Adonai, but accurate weights are his delight.
2 Raha tonga ny fiavonavonana, dia tonga koa ny fahafaham-baraka; Fa ao amin’ ny manetry tena no misy fahendrena.
When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.
3 Ny fahitsian’ ny mahitsy no mitarika azy; Fa ny faharatsian’ ny mpivadika mahatonga fandringanana amin’ ny tenany.
The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.
4 Ny harena dia tsy mahasoa amin’ ny andro fahatezerana; Fa ny fahamarinana no mamonjy tsy ho azon’ ny fahafatesana.
Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
5 Ny fahamarinan’ ny marina mandamina ny alehany; Fa ny ratsy fanahy lavon’ ny haratsiany ihany.
The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6 Ny fahamarinan’ ny mahitsy mamonjy azy; Fa ny mpivadika dia voafandriky ny filàny.
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but the unfaithful will be trapped by evil desires.
7 Raha maty ny ratsy fanahy, dia foana ny fanantenany, Eny, foana ny fanantenan’ ny mpanao ratsy.
When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and expectation of vain striving of iniquity comes to nothing.
8 Ny marina dia vonjena amin’ ny fahoriana; Fa ho avy kosa ny ratsy fanahy hisolo azy.
A upright person is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked takes his place.
9 Ny vavan’ ny mpihatsaravelatsihy no animbany ny namany; Fa ny fahalalana no hanafahana ny marina.
With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the upright will be delivered through knowledge.
10 Raha miadana ny marina, dia ravoravo ny tanàna; Fa raha ringana ny ratsy fanahy, dia velona ny hoby.
When it goes well with the upright, the city rejoices. When the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11 Ny fisaoran’ ny marina no isandratan’ ny tanàna; Fa ny vavan’ ny ratsy fanahy no aharavany.
By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12 Tsy ampy saina izay manamavo ny namany; Fa izay hendry dia mangìna.
One who despises his neighbor is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding holds his peace.
13 Izay mandehandeha manaratsy dia manambara ny hevitra afenina; Fa ny olona mahatoky tsy mba tia lazalaza.
One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.
14 Raha tsy misy mpitondra, dia rava ny firenena; Fa handry fahizay, raha maro ny mpanolo-tsaina.
Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory.
15 Hahita loza tokoa ny mianto-bahiny: Fa mitoetra tsy manana ahiahy ny tsy tia antoka.
He who is collateral for a stranger will suffer for it, but he who refuses pledges of collateral is secure.
16 Ny vehivavy tsara tarehy mahazo dera; Ary ny mpanao an-keriny mahazo harena.
A chen ·gracious· woman obtains kavod ·weighty glory·, but violent men obtain riches.
17 Ny olona mamindra fo dia mahazo soa ho an’ ny tenany; Fa ny lozabe dia todin’ ny halozany.
The man of chesed ·loving-kindness· does good to his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.
18 Ny ratsy fanahy dia mahazo valiny tsy mahasoa; Fa izay mamafy fahamarinana no mahazo izay tena tambiny tokoa.
Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
19 Ny tena fahamarinana dia mamantana any amin’ ny fiainana; Fa izay fatra-panaraka ny ratsy dia iharan’ ny fahafatesana.
He who is truly upright gets life. He who pursues evil gets death.
20 Fahavetavetana eo imason’ i Jehovah ny meloka am-po; Fa ankasitrahany kosa izay mandeha tsy misy tsiny.
Those who are perverse in heart are an abomination to Adonai, but those whose ways are blameless are his delight.
21 Azo itompoana tokoa fa tsy maintsy hampijalina ny ratsy fanahy; Fa ny taranaky ny marina no hovonjena.
Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the offspring of the upright will be delivered.
22 Toy ny kavim-bolamena eo amin’ ny oron-kisoa Ny vehivavy tsara tarehy tsy manam-pahendrena.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout, is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.
23 Ny soa ihany no irin’ ny marina; Fa fahatezerana no fanantenan’ ny ratsy fanahy.
The desire of the upright is only good. The expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 Misy mahafoy, nefa mitombo fananana ihany; Ary misy fatra-pahihitra loatra, nefa tonga malahelo ihany.
There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.
25 Izay manisy soa olona hohatavezina; Ary izay mandena dia mba holemana kosa.
The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.
26 Izay tsy mamoaka ny variny dia ozonin’ ny olona; Fa saotra no ho amin’ ny lohan’ izay mivarotra.
People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
27 Izay fatra-pikatsaka ny tsara no mitady ny mahafinaritra; Fa izay mitady ny ratsy dia hiharan’ izany.
He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.
28 Izay matoky ny hareny dia ho lavo; Fa ny marina ho tahaka ny ravina maitso.
He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the upright shall flourish as the green leaf.
29 Izay mampidi-doza amin’ ny ankohonany dia mandova ny rivotra; Ary ny adala dia tonga mpanompon’ ny hendry.
He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind. The foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30 Ny vokatry ny marina dia hazon’ aina, Ary ny hendry dia mahataona olona.
The fruit of the upright is a tree of life. He who is wise wins souls.
31 Indro, ny marina aza dia valiana etỳ an-tany, Koa mainka fa ny ratsy fanahy sy ny mpanota!
Behold, the upright are paid what they deserve here on earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner ·deviant (from the standard goal) person·!
